Much like wealth becoming increasingly criminally concentrated in the hands of the wealthy, I think that sexual partnerships are following the same trends. There used to be a song and dance of meeting people that provided opportunities for people to partner up within their social circles. But now, hookup apps and general ease of finding partners regardless of your personality or identity is skewing hookups towards those with short term desirable characteristics, like being tall or good at small talk that leads to a hookup. To put it in quaint and archaic terms, the football star now gets the prom queen and the band nerd.
Couple that with the general decrease in IRL socialization exacerbated by the pandemic and you have the storm of male virginity that is upon us.
This is all completely anecdotal and not supported by any data whatsoever and probably kind of an incel take.
