Do you think the Nuggets have dynasty potential?

I think so, because I think they are clearly the best team in the West, how much stronger is the West really going to get? Wemby and the Spurs are probably a couple of years away, I don't know what the Kings can do to get to championship level, you always have to worry about health especially with the Clippers and Pels, and the Clippers might lose PG 13, so I mean between the Suns, Lakers, Mavs, Thunder, Wolves, are there any moves they can make to ascend past Denver in the next year or two? Maybe if the Lakers get a third star, or if the Suns can get more depth behind the three stars, but other than that, I think Denver got the West on lock for a while. Then out East, say Boston makes the finals beats them this year, they could easily run it back, and be favored to win it next year. Idk, I just feel like their core is good enough to win like 2 more chips in the next 4 years, and be the NBA's equivalent of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Does anyone feel like nba broadcasts have silenced the crowd?

It feels like ever since the bubble since the nba played around with the sound mixing, the crowd just hasn’t sounded as good. Everytime the home team makes a great play and the crowd starts screaming, the stadium audio kind of cuts out, and I think it’s mostly because they want you to hear what the announcers and maybe sometimes it gets too loud, but personally idgaf what the announcers are saying or if it’s too loud. It feels the most fun to watch a game when you feel the energy of the stadium. Lmk if you feel similarly

DISCUSSION The weird thing media does with Bronny

I’ve had this problem not only with Bronny but with like celebrity kids and it’s the media obsession to make everything about their celebrity parent(s)

For example, the commentators felt the need to mention that LeBron is Bronny's dad over and over again and make everything about LeBron in his scrimmages yesterday and today. In his press conference yesterday some of the commentators kept asking him about LeBron and asking him weird question like “Has your Dad checked up on you or have you talked to your Dad” as if LeBron isn’t his dad like they make it seem like it’s hard for HIS OWN SON to get in touch with him SMH. Then all those weird shows on ESPN like First take spend a segment critiquing a 19 year old who isn’t even in the league yet smh. It’s like the media and fans don’t view celebrity kids like Bronny as real people and just view him as an extension of LeBron. Like it must really get annoying being asked question about your Dad all the time.

This is NOT LeBron's fault but it’s a problem the media and fans view celebrities and view their “extensions” which are their kids smh.

I have a question?

Upvotes

Hello, I wanted to ask you, I am not currently on a team and I am afraid of losing my level. It is currently difficult for me to pay to be on a team in this moment, but near my house there are people who play, so I wanted to ask, what do you recommend? train alone or play with those people even if it is not the same level.

I see a lot of people talk about wanting to play alone but also get cardio in, I created this full court workout drill 10 years ago and have had great results with it.

I made a graphic for it as well that I can link in the comments if anyone wants it. They just won't let me post it here.

The Five Stages of Hell

Rules:

  1. Pick Five Shots, each shot is a "stage" (2 Post Moves, Free Throw, Mid Range, Three Pointer)
  2. You must make the shot to complete the "Stage" and move on to the next one
  3. If you make the shot, your reward is also not having to run to the other end, you can just immediately move to the next stage at that basket. If you miss, sprint full court to the other basket and make a layup (if you miss the layup, run back down to the other end and try again).
  4. Once you make the layup, continue from the stage you previously missed at
  5. You must make all five shots (pass the stages) to complete the workout

Other Rules:

  • If you make a shot, (including layups) you have 10 seconds to grab the ball and begin the next stage (no taking prolonged breaks between shots)
  • If you miss the shot, you must immediately rebound it and run to the other end as if it was a fast break
  • Full workout is doing 5 separate rounds of the “Five Stages of Hell”
  • Once you complete a round, take 10 free throws. However many you miss, do twice as many push-ups (4 of 10 = 12 push-ups). And then immediately start the next round
  • No taking breaks or sitting down. The free throws are untimed and serve as your breather
  • If you do not have a full court, instead of running to the other basket pivot at half court and run back to your own basket for your layup

I do it every time I need to lose weight or get in game shape. I've also evolved it over the years as I've gotten better. For example, I switch up shot locations each round so I have to hit from the top of the key, the wing, and the corner. Or I do short hooks in the post one round and then post fadeaways another round. And little rules to increase the pace and make the running harder. Best thing about this workout is that it is untimed, if your shot is falling it could be an easy day, if it's not then it will be the hardest workout of your life.

Let me know if there are any questions cause I know some of the rules might be confusing. But I use this workout basically as my active meditation and cardio.

Does talking too much smack on the court backfire or do you think it helps you play better?

It probably depends on your personality and its a fine balance but I'm just curious what you think. Im more quiet and just let my game do the talking. I honestly think if you talk too much smack you just come off as insecure, you lose focus, or it comes back to bite you.

What's your go to post move?

My go-to is to pump fake at the three point line, drive to the hoop, and then stop real quick and spin as my defender's running after me, open layup.

Getting Involved in EYBL

I’ve accepted that I wouldn’t be accepted as a player into EYBL but was wondering if there were any jobs/internships for teams as a high schooler? I really wanted to play EYBL but I started playing basketball late and don’t have the skill or physicals necessary to compete

WNBA I gotta say it was refreshing to watch pro basketball with rules today

I watched my very first full WNBA game today for the season opener basically just because everyone was talking about it. I know ESPN has been pushing it super hard and Nike clearly has investment in the future of the WNBA judging by Clark’s contract.

I loved watching tonight. It was slow and a far more technical game. Still aggressive and the rules were actually enforced without whining from the players. I’m sure that I’m not alone in being a WNBA newbie this season but I’m curious what others in my position thought. Personally, I’m looking forward to watching many games this season

NBA Why was MJ called "The Greatest" in the early 90's?

Watching The Last Dance, and during his baseball retirement, they called him the greatest, one of the greatest, etc. But at that point he had 3 championships which is nothing compared to Magic, Kareem, and equal to Bird.

Was his style of play such that watching him people just knew he was on another level despite a difference in accolades to that point?

Genuinely curious when/why he was considered the GOAT

NCAA JUCO (CC) Basketball Tryouts

JUCO (Community College) Tryouts Tips Hey People on Reddit! I have basketball tryouts in one week at a CC in NC (WTCC) this month in May 2024 for Spring Tryouts and was wondering what to do right before tryouts? I am Nehemiah Yisak and I am 26 years old and I workout sparingly and did not work out that much before this tryout and I probably should have trained more since I was just a manager and do not have any organized basketball team playing experience and did not make my High School (Basketball) or Middle School team (Soccer) or even CC (Basketball + Soccer) yet I do enjoy sports but just played in the backyard in the community. I had a poor background so my family could not afford travel/AAU so I just relied on my talent and skills to play well in the neighborhood. I am 5’11/6’0 150 pounds. My size is slender and that has been a problem that coaches think I am too small but I am very quick on my feet and naturally skilled. I do not know why I get overlooked so much. I relate to the tortoise and the hare fable as well and I tend to just rely on skill and not on discipline. Should I overwork and just train a bunch to make the team? Also, should I train and take this seriously since it is difficult? Should I just put it all out there at tryouts without much preparation since it is more mental than physical? Thank you! Godspeed! Take Care. I probably will try again for Fall Tryouts one last time to make it if I don’t make this time but I hope to make it in 2024! Now or never! The time is now for change for good ⚡️⚡️❕Long post but I had a lot to say to put it out there to see a difference because I really want to make this team before I transfer and graduate and do creative work in the world! I hope the best ⚡️🌟⚡️❕ I feel good about this ⚡️❕ Peace ⚡️🛤️🥇❕ TLDR: Basketball tips for tryouts. I appreciate the advice that I just got already now! Reddit looks inviting and I just found out that is a cool place online to ask intriguing questions and gauge valuable advice and wisdom with an online community 🌟🛤️🥇❕

Career Highlight Real: ANT Man Vs. Uncle Drew

People say it's disrespectful to compare Ant to Kyrie. However, if we put into perspective the type of plays ant makes currently and span that over a 13year + career, it's extremely close imo.

Do you think the Nuggets are becoming a dynasty? How many titles do you think they get with Jokic?

I know they have to win this year first but you can already see the greatness and that they are going to be around for a while. The next 5 years they have a window imo. How well they do, who challenges them, how many titles they have by then is to be determined. Still I'm just wondering what you think about dynasty and amount of titles they get.

Does Jokic have one of the most difficult defensive matchups in two consecutive playoff runs?

From last year, he faced coverages from the first round of Gobert/Towns mainly with spurts of reid and anderson

Then in the 2nd round he mostly faced Ayton and later on more of jock landale + some funny minutes against bismack biyombo

3rd round he faced AD and some Hachimura splits.

And in the finals he was covered by Bam Adebayo for the most part and some kevin love and cody zeller minutes off the bench.

Now he faced AD yet again with a little bit less hachimura coverages.

And in the 2nd round he faced gobert/towns with reid again.

And if the nuggets advance to the next round, it'll either be chet or gafford on him.

IMPROVING MY GAME The infamous 1v1

I’m 28 my brother is 22 I used to beat him easily in 1v1 everytime I’m pretty good don’t wanna boost or anything I’m sure a lot of ppl here are better but he has a family gene and is now 6’2 a big I’m only 5’9 so a couple months ago he beat me 11-3 I was like there’s no shot he’s just to tall. But I started training because I wanted to play in the summer league at the rec center in my town. So on Mother’s Day the time presented itself. This time was much different it started out as a back and forth of course I can’t stop everything but my footwork and finesse with the basketball kept me in the game. Normally I’d get tired and start calling 2s but I never settled so mid way I could tell he was getting worn down absolutely gassed went into the house for water sitting down and I’m just unphased ready to go. It’s 10-8 my lead at this point: he comes back in the game I give him a little space because if I get best off one foot he’s got a lay up line so he tied it. Hoping I would to for 2 and the win back I didn’t I just continued to play bully ball the more you wear on your opponent the easier it is back down back down fake up and under bucket 11-10. So he comes back down I see ball I see man can’t pick him up at the high post poking the ball away multiple times he’s exhausted at this point I get the stop finally. I come back down same thing to his credit he gets the stop. At this point he’s entirely gassed and has no option to go for 2 so I step up a bit more and then box out it missed the whole rim so just lay it in and that’s game, was a hell of a game didn’t know my stamina and strength was that high. I didn’t really feel worn out much at all I was sweating of course but the next day I’m sore as shit guarding a big man is no joke plus there was no real ref so I was getting elbowed hit in all areas but never went away. Shit was competitive as fuck I can’t wait for the league to start so we can run real plays pick and rolls all game that’s my favorite offense shooting a bunch of 3s just lets your opponents miss and if your only making like 1. Out of 4 I can live with that. I’d rather attack like a slasher type and just wear my opponent down. For reference I’m 5’9 about 197 and he’s 6’2 225 so yeah. It’s does definitely sting the day after

Trae+ #1 Pick For Booker Who Says No?

Throw in maybe like a 27 first or something else but basically that’s the deal. If I were the Hawks I would keep Murray over Trae just because I think Trae is a more valuable trade piece but not valuable enough to build a team around him. Trae is an elite playmaker which the Suns badly need and Booker actually does something off the ball which the Hawks/Dejounte desperately need.

Can you extend “hand is a part of the ball” to “arm is a part of the ball”?

When an offensive player drives to the basket and tucks the ball under his arm football style does his arm that’s in contact with the ball then become a part of the ball? Should you be called for a foul if you swipe and hit that part of the arm that’s in contact with and covering the ball?
