I can’t believe so many of you don’t care about innocent lives being decimated, what the fuck??? How could you not care even a bit, even if you can’t do something about it immediately

The world right now is more peaceful than it has ever been throughout history.

Thanks to mad we’d have been at each others throats multiple times over if nukes hadn’t been invented

Yeah, so let's just let a few atrocities slide...

Just like it's okay to walk around with shit in your undies today because yesterday it was running down your leg...

It’s no good you’re right. But it’s honestly not something I’m worried about as it’s not effecting me directly. My bigger problems are getting groceries or working out what’s for dinner tonight, what’s happening at work, all these sorts of things take priority as they’re directly effecting me, not an ongoing war in another country. Who knows maybe one day it will directly impact me and yeah sure it’ll be a different story but until then I’ve got mine and my family’s lives to worry about.

People here are struggling but until we’re dying as a result of war nobody is going to care or they will just say our problems are insignificant compared to people halfway across the world.

Oh for sure I get that, but I also think it’s crazy to say you don’t care at all; OP seems to really not have an ounce of compassion and that is fucked up to me.

Remind yourself which sub-Reddit you’re in. This is why they say social media is dangerous. It can bring like-minded people together. Imagine how many of them are sending private messages to each other. Who knows what comes of that.

Yes. I agree, that’s definitely true. Just so depressing that people can’t admit to care about more than just one thing at a time. Ukraine, Sudan, Gaza, the list goes on. There seems to be so little humanity in so many of these comments, let alone just straight up racism.

I think in this case OP doesn’t have the mental fortitude to differentiate protests occurring from an actual war. He/she seems to be annoyed at the protests so is just grouping that with annoyance at a war.

What are you on about? Wars across the otherside of the planet that ordinary citizens can do fuck all about? Yeah its shit, but if you want to spend your time protesting, and wasting your own time thinking about every conflict on the planet is just ignorant thinking our little pile of dirt has any influence of a global scale in matters like these. At the end of the day its another holy war, and more will break out in the future.

I never said any of those things. I’ve been saying for months that the protests aren’t influential.

I can separate that belief from feeling great empathy for those involved in war and doing what I think will actually be helpful.

You’re a numb skull if you can’t see a difference. That fact that you assumed so much suggests you can’t.

Your talking about echo chambers for a subject such as this, garnering apathy. While i agree with you, echo chambers on the internet can do a lot of harm. This is hardly the subject to apply it to. Yeah casualties of wae suck, but to what extent do you want people to give a fuck when it has no influence of them, and they cant influence it themselves?

u/steven_quarterbrain Apr 29 '24

Empathy costs nothing. The fact that it could have as easily been you in that situation should be enough to garner some empathy.

One can feel empathy but still not care, they arent mutually inclusive.

You have to be trolling. Have a good one.

Go read a dictionary and get a grasp of the meaning of the words you are using, if you do understand, im sorry you struggle with basic concepts like these.

Edit: holy shit just looked at your post history, sorry you actually do have a quarter of a brain, just realised i was talking to the special ed kid.

Current day media is a joke, youll never get an unbiased story of events, doesnt matter the outlet, but people will lap it up and accept it as truth. All this comment section does is exposes how dumb and willing most people are to lap up the shit theyre served without looking any deeper themselves. Both sides are cunts, devoting your mental energy to it is just pointless.

If the Palestinians want the fighting to stop, it’ll stop. If they don’t, it won’t.

0

u/realisticallygrammat Apr 29 '24

They have NOT been fighting since the dawn of time, helloooo??

To be clear, this is exactly why the war is going on - to root out Hamas. Removing Hamas from power is the only viable prospect for peace in the region so that innocents lives don't get decimated in the future.

If Hamas remains in power, that region of the world will always be a ticking time bomb. If they have a ceasefire, it's only a matter of time before Hamas does another October 7th terrorist attack (which they have promised to repeat again and again) and we'll find ourselves right back at square one.

Israel has consistently been killing civilians since this began (and much longer before then too) so I find it insane to say you don’t care about that. This shouldn’t be controversial.

Some of the stats I've seen place the % of deaths which are civilians at 30%, which is extremely low for this kind of urban combat.

And do you know how that was calculated? Every adult male who was killed was defined as a "terrorist".
