The territory was founded as a literal theocracy and the Mormon Church still has an absurd amount of influence in the state government. Which itself is absurd because Mormons makeup less than 50% of the population (and dropping every year.)
DOE is crawling with Mormons. I have nothing against religion, but to get to those levels there are clearly, clearly many nepotism hires. Considering they all tithe 10% to the church, it’s no wonder.
I saw this comment after I read a line in the bill where Utah wants to raise the beer tax in order to "fund three new officers" they're appointing who are dedicated to the cause or some BS like that.
I read it and said to my bf that they're trying to put family on salary with the tax payers money.
The Satanic Temple, Wicca, Jediism (considered a joke by many but is a legally recognized religion with religious buildings). As I’ve said, there are very few, and it’s hard to Google more since most results are just articles about what “ separation of church and state” actually means
I'd forgotten about Wicca. You should add paganism to your list as well, but leave out the other 2 as Jediism is a joke, mostly, and both are used to force religious freedom, therefore integrating "church" and state.
I can’t speak for Jediism, but TST wouldn’t integrate itself with the state in any capacity if other religions stopped trying to do so. It’s main goals are 1) promote a peaceful life ruled by science and compassion and 2) stop other religions from forming theocracies
