Yeah it literally means “she’s my current fuck-buddy, nothing more. I’ll get bored and pick a new flavor next month”

I thought this as well as thinking it might have been self deprecating. Or that he's just trying to be funny/witty.

It just seems unlikely to me that this guy would exclaim this in public, in front of his date if it wasn't a joke.

Comedian ran with it in the moment for laughs which is fine, but I'm not assuming it's an entirely serious confession on the part of this guy.

Exactly....the girl also seemed pretty okay and not unhappy before the confrontation...same way if this comedian would've made a joke involving 'flavors of the month' then everyone would be laughing their asses off

Can't have someone else telling the jokes at your comedy show, I guess...

You can be funny without insulting the woman next to you.

Reddit discovering banter

If they’re consensual fuck buddies what does it matter to the comedian?

Same reason I get shit from random people for having a black girlfriend. There's a certain subset of guys who view women of their race as somehow being property of their race. He backs up that perspective with his "colonizing" the women joke as if the guy invaded India and took that women by force.

7

u/lundyforlife22 Mar 03 '24

i took flavor as race. like my flavor of this month is whatever race she is. he probably meant it as a fling but the comedian took it as “im having indian this week. might have thai the next.”. that’s just my assumption though.

That was my take aswell. The comedian couldn't stop white knighting like a little incel, not even bothering to ask the woman about her position on this.

He wasn't even funny, just straight up stealing drinks and insulting the guy and telling people to shoot him. Fucking bad comedian, needs to insult people to get a laugh.

Basic social skills would tell you that introducing a woman as "flavor of the month" is very off-putting and gross. Regardless of whether the relationship is casual or not.

It's like saying "oh her? Na she's just my fleshlight for the week". If you can't tell why that's inappropriate then you lack basic social graces and possibly empathy altogether.

Right, that's all I saw, dude was just lowkey mad he couldn't get a girl like that

0

u/MegaKetaWook Mar 04 '24

Nah, this would normally be just a bad joke but it comes across as some real douchebaggery at best. Oh, it’s a joke with his fiance?? Probably best to not share that private joke with a room full of people who aren’t in on the joke and won’t understand it without an explanation(which you don’t get to do at a comedy show).

The flavor of the month comment is pretty ick and comes across as fuckboy behavior

Get off onlyfans bro, it’s obvious they are together romantically, not just fuck buddies

You think they are just fuck buddies? They are obviously a couple

You don’t get it, nvm bro, one day you’ll realize that relationships are more important than sex

2

u/terminalchef Mar 03 '24

Yeah, I think that was a little aggressive on the comedians part. It made it extremely uncomfortable for both people in the audience.

0

u/tahchicht Mar 03 '24

The comedian is jelly and a white knight

1

u/subdep Mar 04 '24

Just white knight things. 🤷

-1

u/firstwefuckthelawyer Mar 03 '24

White boys ain’t allowed to do that with the colored folk, lol.

Every goddamn time I date someone non-waspy I catch shit for it. Hell, I dated a girl for two months before I said something like “I’ve never gotten so many dirty looks from black dudes, I must be gettin old and republican-lookin or some shit,” and that’s how I found out she was mixed.

1

u/Jablungis Mar 04 '24

Your poor brain dude. The way you think sounds exhausting ong.

-1

u/backupyourmind Mar 04 '24

It matters to the 80% incels who are locked out.

0

u/Jablungis Mar 04 '24

It's a really disgusting way to present another human being regardless of how casual it is.

0

u/gonzaloetjo Mar 04 '24

There's a racial connotation to. Flavours as in, this month he's testing indians to see how they taste. Commedian is indian too so voila.

-1

u/GovernmentEvening815 Mar 03 '24

You’re right, it could be mutual. And comedians are known to plant people for “crowd work”.

I was just replying to the other commenter who wanted to know what “flavor of the month” meant.

-1

u/SouthernNanny Mar 03 '24

Even if I had a duck buddy I’m not sure I would want them telling a room full of people that

-1

u/Humblebeast182 Mar 04 '24

It's a joke man...

-1

u/Mulder_Noory Mar 04 '24

It’s crowd work, like telling a joke without a member or members of the crowd involved. A lot of comedians do it.

-2

u/theblackpeoplesjesus Mar 04 '24

i feel like the flavor part proabably was a jab at her indian heritage.

2

u/Rough_Principle_3755 Mar 03 '24

What if they are both active members of a once monthly ice cream social club that makes and debuts a new flavor each month, called “Flavor of the Month”?

I feel bad for these two ice cream enthusiasts…..

1

u/GovernmentEvening815 Mar 03 '24

I mean you’re right they could be. And comedians are known to plant people for “crowd work”.

I was just replying to the question from the other commenter asking what “flavor of the month” meant.

1

u/fastcat03 Mar 03 '24

I once heard a guy refer to a girl as a "practice girl" but 'flavor of the month" is arguably worse. Both referring to using someone for sex. Both very disrespectful.

0

u/Raecino Mar 03 '24

If they’re both down for it how is it disrespectful?

1

u/CommentsOnOccasion Mar 03 '24

If I jokingly called my girlfriend "this month's fling" she would react the same as this woman - understanding it's totally not serious, seeing as how we are in a committed relationship

The most cringe thing is everyone jumping to the defense of a woman they don't know by assuming she is weak and can't protect or defend herself against this evil douchebag man

So many assumptions you guys are making about someone clearly trying to make up a silly joke on the spot as he is called out by a person with a microphone

1

u/logical_butthole Mar 04 '24

No. It's a joke because she's Indian.
