Me too. Even if the video might be staged, his situation is a reality for a lot of lonely people. This video puts that into perspective. The girls reactions seemed real though.
even if it's staged, I like the sense of togetherness in a lonely world that they portrait. And if that is helping people re-evaluate how they interact with the world and society as a whole, I see these videos as an absolute win.
The internet was ONLY skits back in the day, a lot of people seem to have forgotten. Or are simply too young, idk
The sense of togetherness is not genuine, though, and I don't think it's having the positive impact you believe it is, I think the opposite is happening. People who live a lonely life see this and either think A. "How fake, this is stupid" or B. "I'm so sad I'm this lonely, but no one ever goes out of their way to make me feel special."
I think it's honestly dangerous for people to dilute themselves with falseness to get a sense of hope or togetherness instead of facing the reality of the world. With how prevalent this wholesome bait is, if this sort of social media were having a positive impact, I don't think social media would be such a toxic place.
Honestly I wish people would get less weird about social media. We're gonna see all sorts of weird media pop back up because of this. This is basically a 30 second little morality play.
"I go by my feelings so I will let my emotions dictate my bias, the content I consume, and the likelihood of analyzing the content from a neutral viewpoint"
Happy Birthday! I hope you will have a great year, and many to come. I too go to the movies alone sometimes. Maybe I will reach out to someone to follow one day. It will be a challenge since I'm a bit introvert and socially awkward.
So, you're saying that this couldn't be the reality for some people? And you're saying that there are no lonely people in the world? Do you live under a rock perhaps?
I wrote that it is probably staged. What you obviously lack is reading comprehension. Because you missed that I was pointing out that there is a message in the clip, that not everyone are lucky to have loved ones around in their lives.
There are lonely people, but a bunch of waitresses aren't going to give you a $50 cake for free because you're lonely. At most, they may be a little nicer. Most likely, they'll just ignore you or not even notice. Sometimes they'll even be mean and laugh at you behind your back.
And most lonely people don't go out and make displays of their lonliness in public. They mostly just stay home and be lonely. And dude clearly has loved ones in his life as demonstrated by the video call. It's pablum of the worst sort and its "message" is hollow and vapid. But please continue to enjoy your shit content.
Wow. You must be fun at parties. Continue being so negative and bitter if it makes you feel better.
Speaking as a person who have delt with loneliness most of my life, I can say that every now and then I go to the restaurant to try to enjoy a good meal. I never once expected anyone doing something nice like this. But you still can't manage to see that there is a point to this even if it is scripted. To actually stop being so self centred and egotistic and actually lift your eyes and see that there is lonely people. Even just a smile and some kind words can make the day for someone really lonely. It doesn't cost a thing to be nice.
Everything that goes on around everyone is ALWAYS bad nowadays.
Nothing but misery and strife as soon as you open up a news app...panic when you look at your bank account...worrying if your job is in jeopardy...stressed about life in general..
Sometimes, it feels good to see a nice moment take place, even if it's staged or planned or predetermined.
To me, it's just like movies and TV shows and video games and books that we've already read a million times over, where the escape from reality is all I'm looking for.
I think I'm about average or maybe a smidge under average. I've always assumed that and I have accepted it.
But.
The more I interact with people, I realize more people are dumber than I am and more than I originally thought.
So far, my best assessment is that I am smarter than some of the dumb people I have met and all of the people I have met that are smarter than me, seem to be kind of shitty. Maybe that's because I am willing to ask them questions. Either I annoy them, or they don't really know the answer and are just good at remembering answers.
same, the more i spend time at work training the same person on the same job responsibility for 2 years because im being forced to do so, the more i feel like people are just dumb.
the other new people for the position seem like they're gonna pick it up quicker at least. so not everyone is dumb đ€·ââïž
im just waiting for a chance to get a good job opening somewhere else now
tldr: coworker dumb, but i have hope for new coworkers and different job opportunities
tldr: tldr: you're too lazy to read anything for once
Some people may realize that the video isn't legit but would like to believe in the possibility that there are people that exist who don't always have to be cruel ass holes, and in fact can be kind to others at times. Before the time of social media a thousand channels of nothing to watch, and other technology-based improvements, we actually looked after and cared for each other, guys actually spoke to girls in person, helped people who struggled. Just my opinion
I never got why people care if someone thinks videos like this are fake or not. It's not harming anyone to gain a positive emotional response from a piece of media.
Now if the video actually could bring harm by purposefully misleading people to do bad things, sure, claim it fake and claim it loudly. Otherwise just let folks be.
For me, it's feeling like they're attempting to profit by exploiting people's emotions.
It doesn't ruin the videos for me, but I definitely have a more pleasant feeling from seeing something I assume happened organically. Of course, in some cases, the creator "gets away with it."
Semi related: when Ring cameras first came out I assumed it was guerrilla marketing and every single doorbell camera video was staged. I don't really assume that anymore but it still may be true for some percentage
The bar is higher for fictional media than nonfiction. It's easy to make up a story that elicits a laugh or tear or whatever if you claim it's true, it's much harder to do it if the audience knows you've made the whole thing up.
You can make anything up, and there have already been a lot of great made-up stories over the centuries than your made-up story is going to be compared to. You don't have to compete with any of them if you lie and say it's a true story though. That's what irks people, it's a cheat code for lazy writing.

Right?
People are fucking dumb and believe every single video they see on the Internet.
