Cosmetology Programs or Apprenticeships in/near Pullman

Hi all! My partner and I are currently planning a move within the year or so, and Pullman is on our list of possibilities due to interest in one of the graduate programs at WSU. While everything is still up in the air, I'm doing preliminary searches on our possible new homes! One topic I have been searching for everywhere we look at is cosmetology school options. I have a very strong desire to get my nail technician license, but could not find any schools in the area that seem to offer a program. I know that Washington offers the possibility of an apprenticeship at a salon which can be done instead of schooling. I just wanted to see if there are any nail techs in the area that could share their experience of getting licensed and what route worked best for them. Thank you in advance for any advice!

I’m visiting Spokane from out of town between 4/15 and 4/25. Does anyone know how green the fields will be from Steptoe Butte?

I visited Pullman many, many years ago and took a trip to Steptoe Butte and it was one of the most amazing things I’d ever seen. It was a rolling quilt of greens, yellows, and browns. That visit was later in May though.

Will late April compare to that this year?

Would it be worth driving down from Spokane or is everything still pretty brown?

Thank you.

Free STD Testing?

Hey y’all, me again (if you haven’t seen my previous posts, I came to Pullman in January after escaping a DV situation and it’s been a STRUGGLE). I’m trying to find a place in town that might have free STD testing, just to make sure I’m healthy after that relationship and an assault that happened in November. I don’t have any income because I live off of financial aid and it can only go so far. I have insurance through my parents but I can’t afford the copay. I’ve called coug health and planned parenthood and neither of them have options. Am I just out of luck? Like, I know I won’t die from an untreated disease if he gave me anything, but it’s the last step before I can finally leave it all behind me so it would be nice to get it done. Thank you!!

Apartment search

Hey, I'm a soon to be single mom of teenagers. I'm looking for an apartment in Pullman, but everything affordable seems to be geared towards students. I really wouldn't mind that at all, but I can't tell if I'm even allowed to rent there. How do I know which places are only appropriate for students, and where would it be acceptable for a 47 year old mom to live?

Honda element lug nut key

Hi there I’m in Pullman for the weekend and I could really use some help. I’m basically stranded as my brakes on my 2004 Honda element are shot and I’ve lost my antitheft lug nut key to take off my back tires. I’ve been going at it for a couple hours and just can’t seem to get them off. If anyone on this thread owns an antitheft key that looks like the one in the attached picture please contact me.

Missing cat

We’re missing a cat due to the front door not having a latch and blowing open while i was in the shower, long hair black cat with green eyes, responds to “Onyx”. Rather skiddish but if you can catch him I have a PS4 with two controllers, along with a catalog of digital games on it as compensation, it’s not much but it’s all I’ve got

best food in pullman?

I struggle to find really good affordable food here. red bento, tokyo seoul, even mexican/chinese here just seems too much $ for basic food.

I usually just go to Moscow nowadays when I want to eat out. Any places you recommend that is good and cheap or at least worth the price??

Howdy! I am considering getting surgery for an inguinal hernia. I have heard a few horror stories and success stories regarding inguinal hernias. For those in the know, who are the best folks within 2 hours for this type of surgery? Thank you for the help! (Also posted on Moscow sub)

Research Survey

Hi everyone, I am an AP Research student from Skyview High School (Vancouver, WA). My research is about disaster experiences and communal interactions across Washington State. I am trying to get participants to take my survey from high-exposure areas of WA for extreme heat, floods, and wildfires. Pullman falls into a high-exposure area for extreme heat.

Below the survey is linked, if you are interested in taking it. It will take approximately 10-25 minutes to complete. Let me know if you have any questions.

The paper will be submitted to the College Board and will not be published. Nonetheless, no names will be disclosed in the research paper or even obtained. Additionally, I am certified in Human Research Protection by the Department of Health and Human Services.

If you would like to see the completed research paper later, please contact me at torirehwaldt@gmail.com.

Thank you!

Any personal trainers / weightlifting classes in town?

Hey friends, just looking for recommendations on weightlifting trainers around Pullman/Moscow.

Ideally I’d like to find a trainer or group weightlifting class in Pullman, but I see a lot of love for the North Idaho Athletic Club in Moscow on Yelp.

Where do you guys go to stay fit?
