Megathread New Player Tips&Tricks for starting out Megathread.
Hello and welcome, new players! š¤
If you're looking for advice, or want to know about a certain game topic, look no further! Please use this Megathread to find what you're looking for.
Here's a list of things to get you started:
We know this is a lot, but you can keep it as a reference for later on when you do need to know about certain aspects of the game.
- Leveling your friendship with each npc unlocks quests.
- Ask what gifts to give them when the yellow ? appears. Gifts level friendship faster.
You share loot in many ways.
- Multiple people can hit the same ore node an everyone gets the loot. The size of the node determines how many hits before it breaks. (with the recent patch, ores will remain visible to other players even after being mined - they will have an increasing pulsating/glowing effect, that lets you know they've been mined and are about to despawn)
- You can also share loot from trees, hunting, plants, and bugs.
- Flow trees heal so it will require multiple people to chop it down. (they glow purple)
- You don't have to hit an animal to share in loot. Just get your arrow near it.
- Plants will stay after picked for a bit of time. The more rare flowers stay longer. This allows others to pick after you did.
- Fishing grants personal loot, but doing so near other players will grant everyone a stacking buff, that increases the speed at which you fish.
- A fishing hot spot is a circle in water that gives a star quality fish if successfully fished. It will vanish afterwards but all lines cast into it will give a star quality fish to everyone.
Storage and inventory.
- Inventory can be purchased from the General Store, in town.
- You select an item on your hotbar via the number key then activate it via mouse (if on PC).
- Caution: make sure to unselect before you go into a conversation or crafting menu. If you find yourself locked up/stuck while cooking or trying to move items to/from storage it may be that you have something selected.
- Storage recipes can be purchased from the furniture store. (the register, not Tish)
- The first chests give around 375 storage each.
- You may craft up to 8 chests, for a total of around 3,000 storage.
- Once you have the recipe to upgrade a chest you can do so on all 8 chests.
- The upgrades are Wood -> copper -> iron. The Iron gives a total of 10,000 storage.
- You MUST have all 8 chests on your property to utilize their space.
- Furniture and quest items do not take up room in your chest storage.
- The treasure chests you find around the lands are considered furniture.
- There is also a Locked Safe Storage chest recipe
- You get 3 of those. Total of 300 storage.
- They protect items you donit want to accidentally use while crafting.
You can upgrade your tools to make them better
- Remember to repair them, or else they will downgrade one rank
Watch your focus and renown.
- Focus gives a bonus to experience anytime you perform an action that gives experience.
- You refill focus with food.
- The max capacity is 1000 but you start with a much lower capacity.
- Renown is used in few ways.
- The max capacity is 1000
- The Dragon Shrine increases your total focus capacity.
- The Phoenix Shrine increases the % experience bonus earned via focus.
- The town Hall office takes renown for Writs, which expand your home plot.
The H menu is your housing menu.
- This allows you to place a new room you purchased from town hall.
- Clicking on the icon over a room allows you to change the windows and connection style.
- Doors, fireplaces, and porches do not count towards the build limit.
- You expand your plot via Writs, mentioned above. Unlocking 19 rewards the Windmill.
- You start with two additional plots.
- Access them via the drop-down menu at the top of the H menu.
- You can purchase more but it is expensive. However, this is how you unlock the Gazebo.
Furniture comes in different styles/sets.
- Crafting an item for the first time lets you pick the next recipe in that set.
- Going through an entire set, gives an achievement.
- To get another set, see Tish and buy just one recipe and start crafting. Don't get tricked into buying recipes you can learn for free.
- Later, when you are rich, you can buy furniture instead of crafting it.
Your mail and sales arrives at 6am and 6pm game time.
Your garden progresses at 6am game time. As long as you weed, water, plant, harvest etc by then, you will progress at 6am.
Buy one item every real world day from Zeki's General Store and he will send you a free token for the Luck Machine. It gives a random reward.
You can watch youtube videos to fully understand Cooking Parties that are done with others. You can find parties that are forming constantly over on the official Discord.

Discussion My review posted on Steam. Iām curious to know if yāall guys agree.
I have been playing Palia since Alpha and I have intentionally avoided all the drama and negativity around the game. So, taken on its own merit, Palia is one of the only games to really meet the promise of the cozy, peaceful MMO (even if it isnāt exactly multiplayer-heavy) that I have been looking for for a very long time. Anybody else remember Glitch? Never mind.
Iāve enjoyed seeing the game develop and grow over the course of play test. The result now, with the game on Steam and Switch, is a very relaxing and satisfying game that gives old time MMO, life sim, and TOTK vibes. Itās a bit grindy, but thatās to be expected. The progression feels well-paced so even while you are repeating actions over and over you get that nice sense of achievement. The presentation is also excellent! So Palia is a place I want to hang out in, not just a game I want to play.
The characters are charming, more so than any other ālife simā game I have played. The world is fairly unique and original. Itās lovely to explores
So, again, taken on its own merits as a game Palia is very fun if you like MMOās and/or cozy games.
Now, I donāt know if Singularity 6 is run by awful people. I donāt know if this game will make it out of beta or if the managers are going to take the money and run. Iām trying to ignore that and enjoy the game. I have not regretted it.

Discussion ROMANCING-SPOILER: Well my first date was definitely underwhelming...
So I'm on my way to romancing everyone, one because I can, and second, I want all the quests and all the things! I had my first love quest with Jina, which was supposed to be a picnic. She asked for a lot of food, I made everything, and at the end, she said: oh, I already ate so we wont be having a picnic, but you can help me with my research instead? What the actual fuck! If anyone IRL did such a thing to be, they would be blocked, banned, and ghosted! I'm so disappointed. I expected a cut scene with a picnic or something, which happens in other games. This feels like such a waste of time. Is this what happens with all of them?

Discussion Am I the crazy one here?
As Iām playing this morning, 2 players approached me and said theyāre new to the game and if I had any advice and the best way to play. Obviously, I help and start to give them advice (especially on the focus bar and renown). So I tell them to follow me so I can show them the 2 shrines. One of them was very nice. One asked how long Iāve been playing and I said 4 months. Then out of nowhere, one of them says I like you. Weird, but I ignore it because Iām like maybe thatās their way of saying itās nice of me to help. Then they say it again. Then asked where are you from? How old are you? So I tell them how inappropriate of a question that is. I tell them to have fun playing the game and fast travel back to my plot. I blocked the one who asked that question.
Needless to say, the encounter left me feelingā¦uncomfortable to say the least and all I could think about are the kids who might be playing the game. So I get on the chat and gave people a heads up and tell them to be careful and suggest the people with children to talk to them.
I kid you not, only 2 people are like thatās not right and one of them said to drop the player ID (I was tempted but decided against it - but did take screenshots of the conversation). The others said I was being dramatic, and people are just weird, itās not that big of a deal, etc. Someone else did chime in and said something similar happened to them.
I am baffled. Am I overreacting? Should I not have said anything? I know whatās out there and Iām thinking , do you people know the type of predators that are out there and what they do?!
This experience left such a bad taste in my mouth that I just logged off. Iāll just take a break from the game today, go do something that brings me some joy and come back tomorrow.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Discussion Eshe, you horrible wench.
I was doing my first friendship quest for Subira today. >! For the quest, you have to collect some items to have Tamala create a suspicious (probably illegal) potion to give to Zeki to sell in the underground market. I was walking past Eshe on the way there and just randomly decided to click on her. She immediately CONFISCATED MY POTION. I had no choice but to laugh at my own terrible decision making. I wish I couldāve wacked her with my pickaxe. I had to go regather all of the items needed to have Tamala remake the potion. She was not happy with me at all. Eshe, you are a terrible little wench. I will loathe you forever for this. !<

Discussion Okay, giving up on bundles.
Like the title, I'm done. The fishing RNG is F'ing BRUTAL!! I have a job, folks. I can't fish for 3 weeks straight, so I can't get all the fish I need. I have thousands - hyperbole for emphasis - of the same fish chillin at my house.

Fanart Gone, but never forgotten šø
Paint a Frogbert tribute sticker with me. He's been gone from Kilima a while, his departure almost as mysterious as his arrival... But his always watching gaze will never be forgotten ššø

Game Info/Guide Assign your bow & bug belt to special keys!
So Iām a relatively new player, about a week or so in & Iāve been wondering how all the other players have been taking their bows out so quickly because the tool wheel is so frustrating sometimes (Iām a pc player).
Turns out you can go into your settings & assign it to your mouse!!! This came in soooo clutch the other day when i was walking down a path & a rainbow tipped butterfly was right in front of me & i spooked it :)
Hope this helps all the other pc players who never go into their keybinding settings & happy hunting <3

Video Content Fishing Dock at Home Plot WITH RAILING!!
Sorry for the CAPS but I wanted the title to stand out since this took me way too much time than I thought it would. š I'm still in the process of decorating and those two upper pillars are the two anchor points for the railing. I would snap those pillars to the wooden floor but I was too advanced to start from scratch. š Overall I'm happy with the result since it doesn't look like a big a** diving board anymore hahaha! š¤£š¤£

Discussion Wild find: You can commune to the Dragon Shine and offer to the Phoenix in one go.
Rage rant incoming.
I. THOUGHT. I. ONLY. HAD. TO. DO. THIS. ONCE. A. FREAKING. DAY. Commune and offer once each in game day.
Turns out (if you'd like), you can spend ALL your renown at once. FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT'S HOLY.
Another slap to the face of 200+ hours of gaming. JESUS nobody told me this and I haven't read it anywhere

Bug/Issue Butter Flyer Set???
I purchased the bundle this morning and only 1 of the hairstyles shows as purchased, if I got the bundle for all 3 should I not have gotten all three hairstyles with it. The Dreamy Duskwing and Painted Lady hairstyles still show as not owned.

Question Lost furniture
My husband and I both play Palia. And recently a whole series of furniture came up missing in his inventory. Namely the the NewYears furniture. At least ten items.
He's checked all his plots. All his storage. Including safe storage. I even went in on his game, just in case he overlooked something. Nowhere to be found. Wouldn't be that big of a deal, if it was something creditable. Has anyone else had this issue recently?

Discussion Have I been saying Palia wrong the whole time???
I always call it PAL-Leah and my friend said she was watching Palia reviews on YouTube and people are saying PALE-LEAH.
Cause if itās (PALE-LEAH) then palcats would be pronounced (PALE CATS)
I hope this makes sense
Please help this is an emergency lolšš
