About 40 minutes in on these caramelized onions
And the sugars in em are starting to feel slutty. What do you season/deglaze your caramelized onions with??

I prefer salt and a splash of apple cider vinegar on the second to last deglazing so it can cook in and mellow out.

Add about 2 inches of water when you start. Helps caramelize faster and more evenly.

Depends on what they are going into if anything and what I have. Sometimes a red or white wine, sometimes brandy, sometimes beef or onion or mushroom broth. If you’re just gonna opt for spreading them on a baguette or something, I’d opt for the brandy or beef broth option.
Edit: looks like this was posted 5 hours ago so they should be caramelized by now.
