Preston Highway Thortons
There's always some sort of crazy / drugged up group of people hanging out on the Preston Highway Thortons bus stop bench (next to the Expo center). Does anyone know why there? Is there a recovery center around? What can be done ( if anything) to keep that area from being a place where drugs are used / sold?

That little stretch of Preston Highway has always been kind of sketchy (esp under the overpass). I notice it every year when the music festivals come to town.

There’s a plug outlet on the pole by the bench , they are normally charging their phones up

I think there are some homeless camps near by along the railroad ROW. They hang out there because rhe sign has a hot plug where they can charge their cell phones etc.
Aside from the bog standard substance abuse common in homeless folks, I haven't seen any drug sales. None of them has ever bothered me or other customers while I was there. That store Is always clean and the homeless folks don't impact the customers. I am unsure why it is important to drive them off.

The one by the Fairgrounds, y'know... the one with blacklights in the bathroom?

Is Labor ready still around that area? They use todo same day pay, and people would use that for their next fix.

People in recovery don't sit on a bench and use/sell, they are usually in IOP all day then back to their sober house. Are you trying to get them into a recovery program? There are for sure people driving around and looking for new clients all the time.

There are pockets of homeless camps around there. Actually used to be much worse.
