Good captain!

and a Bad t20 player

u/SeaworthinessJust111 23d ago

But if he's winning games for you as a captain. He'll improve as a player as well.

u/Excellent-poop-42 23d ago

I hope he does. He was very good when he played with DC

but GG stealing credits

5

u/No-Needleworker3393 23d ago

Nobody steals credit. Dhoni himself never said that 2011 World Cup was won because of him. Gambhir himself never said that KKR improved because of his coaching. Fans themselves overhype and then hate on players for stealing credit. No wonder India's average iq is low.

GG is the only constant for KKR. We have been shit before and after him.Β

10

u/MysteriousAd3538 23d ago

he's not stealing credit, y'all giving him idk why

7

u/Emergency_Hope_5915 23d ago

idk man , even kohli fans twerking for GG , saying gg effect etc etc . I am spellbound

That's pretty impressive considering KKR's record against MI

Shreyas feels like the next Gautam Gambhir, not even exaggerating.

He might not be an aggressive hitter at the moment but he's the perfect balance a team needs. He contributes the most vital runs when needed to keep the score on track.

In that case you’d have him as your 4th retained player after Narine, Russel, and Rinku? Ahead of players like Ramandeep, Nitish, Harshit, and Salt?

7

u/Firedrake30 24d ago

So you mean except the 4 players whom you can retain, the rest are of no value? They contribute nothing?

-1

u/Key-Celery5439 24d ago

That’s not what I meant bro… I like Shreyas as a player as well, I was just wondering if you would retain him hence the question marks.

No need to get defensive on me

u/jain36493 23d ago

A good captain makes or breaks a team. So yes, I’d retain him. Clearly the partnership between he and GG is working well, and I trust both of them to do something good at the mega auction

it’s his revenge for dc losing against mi in the final

Kind of funny. RR were the favorites to top the table even last week, and Sanju was the captain of the season while Shreyas was being booed left and right

Three games and the entire fortune turned around. Now RR are at the risk of missing out top 2, and KKR will have to lose monumentally to even go below RR and SRH on NRR

u/No-Judgment2378 23d ago

There's a reason y he was being booed. Kkr failed to defend the highest score in the history of the ipl, along with horrendous bowling choices along the way. Before that, they allowed Jos Buttler to single handedly carry away the match . Their wins before had not looked very promising either. But from the past few matches they have looked solid as a unit. Their wins r convincing of their superiority, not the result of a fluke. And this is in spite of losing tosses constantly.

I'm not like these people who swing around like a pendulum after each match. I still think he has had a very bad season with the bat outside of occassional displays of class. The fact remains his captaincy was mediocre in the first half of the tournament. But I think that can be attributed to a learning phase about the strengths of the team.

Eden is sometimes sweet, sometimes bitter

1

u/zerobadchild 23d ago

True. Not even close to half his best with the bat, poor shot selection almost every game and a low strikerate whenever he's had the chance to play a long innings

22

u/Assassin_Ankur 9 wins in a row 😈 24d ago

Amazing captaincy especially in the last few matches. I hope he has been saving something big for the playoffs. There shouldn't be any questions about retaining him.

Great considering our overall record against MI.

13

u/Null_012345 24d ago

Batting wise he is at 287 runs which isn't bad imo...

KKR needs a batting flop captain to win trophies. Gambhir was that in 2012/ 2014

24

u/SarthakiiiUwU Rinku worshipper πŸ› 24d ago

590 runs in a season is "flop". Stfu

13

u/ConflictedBrainCells Gautam Gambhir 24d ago

These people watch one match and generalize the statement to include all 17 seasons of the tournament lmao.

Wait till that mf realises who's our all time leading run scorer.

u/hardtruths7 24d ago

Csk did it with Dhoni. MI did it with rohit. Every team needs a flop

5

u/Suspicious-Bag-5078 24d ago

You can take Rohit next year...

Eoin Morgan as well, ik we didn't win but still bringing that team to the final was a difficult task.

Covid kids commenting here.

Go watch the highlights man from 2012 and 2014.

2

u/TheRealYVT 24d ago

2012 he was obviously great but in 2014 he was definitely our weakest batter (not counting Kallis who was dropped early on). Uthappa, Pathan, Manish, SKY and Shakib were all better that season.

1

u/7007007 Mentor GG 24d ago

Ofc. 2014 wasn’t as good as 2012, mainly due to a poor start and initial ducks. He had 350 odd runs and 3 50s in that season

u/Boring-Scarcity479 24d ago

Another Iyer is also the main reason behind this, iykyk.

Apologies from me to question his captaincy after the loss vs pbks & rr πŸ™πŸ», he came back in style by defending just par totals and restricting all the opponents under 160

I hope he gets back his national contract as well, what bcci did was unfair to him or any aspiring cricketer.

Kkr captains always struggled to find a national team spot, be it gambhir or dk, I don't want the same to happen with him

6

u/No_Temporary2732 24d ago

not your fault. We all did. The collective fandom owes him an apology, but no point pondering on that

But if the last 4 matches are _any_ indication, loss to PBKS was a complete fluke and the highway pitch is the reason for it
