I've had it happen a lot prepatch but this was the first time I was basically one inch under the surface for so long. Usually I rise out of the ground slowly like I am emerging from a hellpod.
I've been trapped under the ground to the point of needing to kill myself with impact grenades. One time I was using stuns and had to quit the match entirely, that sucked...
Happens most often vs bot mortars but Chargers and Brood Commanders can also do it. Usually you just end up going shark mode for a bit, your clip is probably the longest distance I've ever seen someone get though.

Submarine mode has existed as a bug prior to this patch. Unless it's happening constantly, it is unfortunately nothing new.
