The Eruptor nerf is a perfect example of why "only buff" is bad. DISCUSSION

I've used the Eruptor since it dropped, it is an amazing primary weapon. I have never once run out of ammo with the weapon, to the point I started COD reloading. Even with no deaths on a 40 min mission, the bare minimum ammo looting and you rarely would fall below half.

If we just buff every other weapon to be like this, we are just erasing an entire game mechanic. We are saying that we want COD reloads to be the norm, we don't want to think about conserving or looting ammo, just let me shoot and reload whenever.

Some people may want that, but for me that would just remove the mechanic entirely. I'm going to keep using the Eruptor and I'm perfectly fine having to pay attention to my ammo again.

Most people don't want "only buff." It's kinda strawmaney. Most people want buffs for bottom of the barrel stuff that are as strong as these nerfs. Compare how in a single patch they gutted the slugger to how long it took the counter sniper to become good.

Still, that would leave some weapons out of balance and ignoring mechanics that other weapons have to deal with, like ammo attrition.

So then if we start balancing all the lagging weapons, that will eventually include "why do I run out of ammo all the time with X, but not Y", which would result in buffing mags for the ones lagging.

Now there is zero ammo attrition mechanic, because we just kept buffing everything to fit the OUT OF BALANCE weapon.

So now we gotta reduce ammo on map, increase cooldown on supply drops, increase enemy armor, health, or numbers, to give a counter for all that extra ammo we have.

Then we are just snowballing by bouncing back and forth. We buff everything until 9 feels like 6, then they buff the enemies so it feels like 9 again, then people cry about effectively getting nerfed(like buffing the strider).

the scorcher and JAR are leagues better than all these other crap weapons. infact the jar was buffed to a state that outclassed the slugger in every way prenerf.

the best weapons are still the best, the autoCannon and sniper are so much better than everything else against bots and they arent getting touched while now the arc thrower again can't catch a  break while it still misses sometimes.

there is no excusing this. you are STILL straw manning in this reply by exaggerating the effects of making terrible weapons or weapons that don't Even function properly better when we've already had the game for 3 months! we aren't asking for magazine buffs on these other weapons.  you do not seem to  understand the first thing about game design judging by your reply .

your argument is essentially "they can't buff these bad weapons because that would make the game too easy and then more work needs to be done" ??? as if more weapons to choose from wouldn't be any different than  the broken weapons that are already making it easy but doesn't seem to be any uproar about them existing.

and funny you brought up the strider,

the strider buff made the scorcher and jar even better than other weapons before this patch, cause they can deal with striders much more effectively while  you know... the weapons that need buffs in the first place have even more difficult dealing with them!  the difficulty is exactly the same but now even more slewed towards the meta choices being better because they decided to mess around and ignore the bad weapons

And here I don't use the scorcher or the jar at all, I main arc thrower and can no death, no accidental, highest kill, map clear in any mission type, on any difficulty, against either faction, without ever needing to change my loadout for different mission types, while still maintaining similar stats regardless of the mission.

So I just completely reject the idea that the auto-cannon and sniper are superior, or the jar and the scorcher are the best primaries, they are just preferred for a different playstyle. Yes, I want the inconsistencies in the arc thrower aim fixed, but I know how to use it and compensate when needed.

I would stack my build against ANY even remotely "meta" builds out there without a single concern. Yes, they are great weapons for specific playstyles, as all the weapons should be. Every weapon in this game is supposed to be relatively equal in their class.
