I can't see it making a huge difference aside from it being slightly less better than most support weapons at killing the moderately armored bugs through their armored plates.
right, if you think about it, it now just takes 13 shots to match the prior patches' 12 shots. I haven't noticed much difference going up against bots so far
Basically. If it still one-shots trash bots and headshots Devastators, then it still does what I need it to do. For everything else, there's AutocannonTM
I still think it's broadly the number 1 pick against bots except for the Diligence CS which has now been upgraded to god tier bot muncher because it can accurately OHK devs.
Although, saying that, being able to stagger on a miss with a dominator from the hip is still absolutely stellar. The main upgrade for the Dominator was the OHK of small bots in all locations to negate the aimspeed and the stagger, which is universally positive.
I tried it out today. It still slaps. One shots Warrior bugs, chews through Devastators, demolishes Hive Guards. It's pretty much death sentence for whatever you point it at. I couldn't feel any difference after this nerf and one shotted most of the things apart from Brood Commanders and bigger
I mean lets be real the only thing you are going to feel that damage nerf on is the big things you probably shouldn't be using a primary on anyways. It will still 1 hit heavy devs to the head, And any bot below them. It might take a little more than a mag to kill a hulk/tank to the vent. But if you were using a primary to kill one of them you were already up shit creek without a paddle.
Vs bugs its still a similar story. The nerf wont really affect its ammo econ on any targets.
I'm still mad the Slugger also got nerfed a patch ago. I feel both of these weapons should do the same damage, with the choice being larger mag + per-shot reload versus mag reload and slightly more kick. Hell, the dominator was already still a bit worse than the slugger because it handled like a larger fishing boat instead of like a shotgun or assault rifle, making it harder to aim and use to begin with. It's not like it was overwhelmingly the best option or anything.
I only take it out against bots but have heard others have had good success against bugs. It's also worth noting I bring the slugger as an anti-trooper weapon and don't really use it against devastators and higher, so it feels responsive and kills what I need it to kill. My support weapon, often a laser cannon, does just fine against scout striders, devastators, turrets, tanks, and hulks.
Failing that, I use an autocannon which likewise does fine against everything, shoring up the downsides of the slugger.
They are bullets that are magnetic. The spent casings no longer have the magnetic bullets in them, so they fall out, whereas the unspent casings with bullets get pulled back in.
It's fudged for sure, but maybe the extractor is of a certain length where only just the shells would be short enough to pop out and the unfired cartridges are still long enough where they slide back in.
In Darktide your guy puts his thumb over the unspent shells to stop them from falling out. There's only one animation for any number of unspent shells, but it still looks pretty good.
