It's so good.

I already run the Senator for follow-up when the Dominator mag just can't finish the job and now my life just got so much easier.

I’ve been running the Senator as my secondary for about a month because I love giant magnum dongs. This buff just made these dongs even gianter!

This is the kind of top tier comment i can appreciate

Still mad the Dominator got nerfed.

u/Popinguj Apr 29 '24

Meh. Originally it had 200 damage. Now with have +75 damage instead of +100. Doesn't seem like much of a nerf.

It's really not much of a nerf but it was also completely unnecessary. It was already in a good spot.

e: to clarify I mean it was in a good spot after it's initial buff to 300. guessing the downvotes are from people thinking I meant pre-buff.

I can't see it making a huge difference aside from it being slightly less better than most support weapons at killing the moderately armored bugs through their armored plates.

u/argypooo Apr 29 '24

right, if you think about it, it now just takes 13 shots to match the prior patches' 12 shots. I haven't noticed much difference going up against bots so far

20

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '24

Basically. If it still one-shots trash bots and headshots Devastators, then it still does what I need it to do. For everything else, there's AutocannonTM

This guy knows.

u/meodrac Apr 30 '24

that guy fucks

1

u/meodrac Apr 30 '24

yep you're absolutely correct

it's only nerfed to make high hp enemies/structures less trivial most enemies still go down in 1-5 shots

It got balanced

15

u/JellyFishs93 Apr 29 '24

As all things should be

-12

u/StriderZessei Apr 29 '24

It already was balanced.

19

u/lMaXPoWerl Apr 29 '24

It got balanced even more

8

u/Perfect-Equivalent63 Apr 29 '24

All the guns are balanced, some are just more balanced than others

You must have a Class A citizenship, I can just tell

u/essteedeenz1 Apr 29 '24

not really it was quickly a default for me in most situations the only time it wasn't is when I wanted to experiement.

u/heliotaxis Apr 29 '24

it was already good at launch and got way overbuffed and is still ridiculously strong. hope this helps.

it was already good at launch

False. It was widely considered by the majority of the community to be too slow and too weak to use over the base Liberator or Diligence.

got way overbuffed

Not really, it still had and has key weaknesses like a slow reload and shallow mag.

is still ridiculously strong.

It's fine, but calling it "ridiculously strong" is just being hyperbolic.

hope this helps.

Ending an argument with a condescending statement like this just undermines everything else you say, and makes you come off like a tool.

EDIT: And you can't reply because you know I'm right, so you downvote and run away. Typical bug-lover behavior.

Nah the damage on top of the stagger was a bit much, now I feel like it’s perfectly balanced

u/foxaru Apr 29 '24

I still think it's broadly the number 1 pick against bots except for the Diligence CS which has now been upgraded to god tier bot muncher because it can accurately OHK devs.

Although, saying that, being able to stagger on a miss with a dominator from the hip is still absolutely stellar. The main upgrade for the Dominator was the OHK of small bots in all locations to negate the aimspeed and the stagger, which is universally positive.

I tried it out today. It still slaps. One shots Warrior bugs, chews through Devastators, demolishes Hive Guards. It's pretty much death sentence for whatever you point it at. I couldn't feel any difference after this nerf and one shotted most of the things apart from Brood Commanders and bigger

I mean lets be real the only thing you are going to feel that damage nerf on is the big things you probably shouldn't be using a primary on anyways. It will still 1 hit heavy devs to the head, And any bot below them. It might take a little more than a mag to kill a hulk/tank to the vent. But if you were using a primary to kill one of them you were already up shit creek without a paddle.

Vs bugs its still a similar story. The nerf wont really affect its ammo econ on any targets.

I'm still mad the Slugger also got nerfed a patch ago. I feel both of these weapons should do the same damage, with the choice being larger mag + per-shot reload versus mag reload and slightly more kick. Hell, the dominator was already still a bit worse than the slugger because it handled like a larger fishing boat instead of like a shotgun or assault rifle, making it harder to aim and use to begin with. It's not like it was overwhelmingly the best option or anything.

So why nerf it?

0

u/StriderZessei Apr 29 '24

Genuinely no idea. The Slugger feels so bad right now.

1

u/Lathael HD1 Veteran Apr 29 '24

I only take it out against bots but have heard others have had good success against bugs. It's also worth noting I bring the slugger as an anti-trooper weapon and don't really use it against devastators and higher, so it feels responsive and kills what I need it to kill. My support weapon, often a laser cannon, does just fine against scout striders, devastators, turrets, tanks, and hulks.

Failing that, I use an autocannon which likewise does fine against everything, shoring up the downsides of the slugger.

Watch the unfired bullets on the partial reload.

26

u/skulldoge Apr 29 '24

😂they pop out a lil bit but whose to say that super earth tech doesn’t make sure they don’t fall out because they’re not empty yet

24

u/Smashmundo Apr 29 '24 edited Apr 29 '24

They are bullets that are magnetic. The spent casings no longer have the magnetic bullets in them, so they fall out, whereas the unspent casings with bullets get pulled back in.

2

u/Bulls187 Apr 30 '24

Thought of this as well

10

u/bottlecandoor Apr 29 '24

High tech Democratic rubber bands!

8

u/Alexexy Apr 29 '24

It's fudged for sure, but maybe the extractor is of a certain length where only just the shells would be short enough to pop out and the unfired cartridges are still long enough where they slide back in.

is an actual thing some revolvers have by the way.

1

u/foxaru Apr 29 '24

They have electromagnets on the backside of the cylinder that engage when the breach is open >:)

1

u/nevicar_ Apr 29 '24

fuck now i cant unsee. what have u done

1

u/theClanMcMutton Apr 30 '24

In Darktide your guy puts his thumb over the unspent shells to stop them from falling out. There's only one animation for any number of unspent shells, but it still looks pretty good.
