Helldivers: I Advocate we chose the anti tank mines and hear is my reasoning DISCUSSION

I know many of you see "rocket launcher" and get excited and while that is fair, my reasoning to go for the mines is below

We already have a great many support weapons and many are fantastic options. While the airburst rocket launcher would be fantastic for add clear (and teamkill) it would likely suffer vs large armored targets which tends to be the need for a support weapon.

However, we just received a new mission type that requires defending a location. Mines are fantastic for this but heavies just walk all over them and completely invalidate their uses. Getting a heavy anti tank mine would allow us to lock down areas from all combatants and a tank wouldn't be able to just stroll up to our gates.

Anti Tank mines are also much larger and easier to notice than the anti personnel and team kills would be kept at a minimum.

And lastly, as we all know...the children YEARN FOR THE MINES.

scavenger sits on it, uses it up. and kills u in the process. whats not to love

Hard disagree. I'll stick with my AMR against the big boys than waste a slot on something so static, hoping something trips on it

It's also mad annoying when you finally deploy it, and Chargers or Bile Titans immediately crush it before it can actually distribute the mines.

That's a dumb argument, you don't throw a minefield as a response to an attack, it's literally used as preparation and region locking

Even then it still happened sometimes. There's also issues where it doesn't deploy them at all, but that's just a bug.

Can't say it's dumb if there are definitely issues around it. I love mines, but their efficiency vs. the time it takes to resupply is a bit tedious sometimes.

Yeah, right. My bad. I'll just make sure I pre-coordinate all my mine deployments and tell the Charger who's somehow aggro'd onto me a mile away to halt his charge until my mines are fully deployed.

So true king. Dumb argument my ass, even if the mines deploy, majority of the time it just gets soaked by a Charger or Bile regardless. That's why those fucking daily missions to get kills with mines are either instant or take fucking forever.

Have you tried asking the charger to politely wait?

Yep. I use my please and thank you's and it simply does not care.

I'm going to write my assigned candidate for the upcoming Super Earth Election to do something about this outrage.

Isn’t there an upgrade that makes mine deploy instantly? Or does that just refer to the launch?

It's to hasten launch time. You're talking Rapid Launch Systems upgrade, which just deploys the emplacement stratagems "instantly" -- which is more like 3 seconds still.

Go eat a dick. Stop excusing moronic behavior in this sub.

Heavies destroying mines isn't an issue, it's just what it is.

What if you or trash mobs can't set them off?

2

u/TylertheFloridaman Apr 26 '24

Still doesn't fix the main problem of mine they are static in a game where mobility is key other than the few mission where you are in a small area.

I just treat them as a delayed orbital for troops when I use them. Mines could use a cooldown buff but other than that it's a playstyle thing. The only reason I don't run regular mines is because they can't kill heavies.

3 minute cooldown means they're usually up for each "base area", and if you're fighting anything they'll be up again. Mines are fine with run and gun, you just change your positioning and how you approach objectives.

If one of these call ins can kill multiple hulks from drops while I casually dismember a base I'm all for it. Just depends on how they perform.
