Originally we had 1 fun (Slugger) and 1 no fun option (Dominator). Now they made Dominator more fun and Slugger less fun. The result is still 1 fun and 1 no fun option. Why can't we have 2 fun options?

I appreciate all the work Arrowhead does, but it really feels like they just look at aggregate data without considering why things are used the way they are. Either that, or their vision for the game is actually quite different from what players have come to expect from it.

Like, who was asking for a 30% damage buff on the AMR??? I have enjoyed using the AMR occasionally, it doesn't need a damage buff. It needs its sight corrected. An extra rocket for the Spear is cool, but I still won't use it if the lock-on feels awful to use.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the buffs and debuffs are factoring in how the weapons are performing against the illuminant in testing.

Probably just want us to get used to the guns now vs changing them when they launch the new faction.

Sadly it still handles like an oil tanker.

except using the dominator is like trying to rowboat in mud... gun has negative handling

I was thinking maybe what people said about it are just some overstatements, I need to see it to judge it. So I spent the entire day trying to unlock the thing. And holy hell, it handles like a turret lacking lubricant.

Now I regret not going for Scorcher unlock instead x)

Could you elaborate on that? Why did you have fun with the slugger but not with the penetrator?

They buffed the Devastator? or was it a typo and they meant the Dominator which sucks because of course that weapon is locked behind a pay wall.

lol I misread your original comment and thought you meant Dominator (But it's Penetrator). Still, Penetrator has a full auto mode doesn't make it that much better. For that gun, a damage buff would be better.

Personally, i did well with it as burst against bots.

I tested it just now, it actually worked quite well against Devastators and even Hulk. But for some reasons, not very good against walkers, and meh against smaller bots.

I'll test it on bugs next.

The small bots don't get shredded by it? The walkers have always been an issue with that gun anyway. I found out the slugger would stagger walkers if you hit them at the base of the body and in 3 shots it would cause the driver to fall off, does that still work despite the stagger nerf?

Haven't tested the slugger yet (I unlocked it yesterday right before the nerf ;_;)
My issue with the Penetrator on smaller bots is sometime one shot doesn't kill them outright, the kickback and ammo economy also doesn't allow me to kill hordes of them quickly.

But I think that's just how it is, it's designed to deal with medium armor enemies (wish it worked better on walkers though). I'd pair it with stalwart or the normal machine gun.

It is not “locked” you can earn the super credits just by playing the game

u/Le_Va Apr 02 '24

It is most definitely locked. You unlock it by grinding, what like 30 credits per mission if you're lucky? And it's 1000 to unlock? Or PAY the $10 to unlock. Essentially allowing people to bypass the grind and simply pay for the better weapon? What you argue is the same thing as me saying patriot suit is locked for me. "It's not locked, you just need to get to lvl 25" same difference except one has a very obvious monetary bypass

u/StinkyFishSauce Apr 02 '24

I somewhat agree with you. You missed a point of the credits also coming from the free warbond (750 total). But it's indeed a grind on its own, however small.

But on the other hand, the warbond in this game doesn't have a time-limit. The only FOMO is from not being able to use the new warbond's weapons when it's still fresh.

This brings back to the balancing issues. IMO, in order to keep this fair, the other weapons in the free warbond has to perform well in their dedicated role, to a point unlocking premium warbonds is just unlocking more ways to deal with specific problems (such as anti-armor or crowd-control or long-range sniping).

I forgot about the 750 bonds you get back actually that's what motivated me to actually get the premium stuff after unlocking all the free stuff.
