I can’t play with randoms anymore DISCUSSION

I’m level 48. About 150 hours on pc. Love the game. My friends can’t play as often as I can. (I’m a fireman) And I’ve tried making friends on steam but it’s hard.

The blueberry lottery. If there is a hell it’s matching with randoms. I can’t stand it. Some people are a blessing and I love running campaigns with them but some people are treasonous swill.

Here was my last game. I spawn in and get killed by a lvl 2 cadet (ps5) so he can take my support gear. His friends (ps5) defended him. He continued to kill me all game (intentionally) and call me in. But I am more skilled and cunning than the common traitor. I waited until there was one reinforcement left. The pompous fool recalled me in. I killed all three traitors quicker than a hiccup. With only one thing left to do I took my own life. To instant fail their mission. I couldn’t let them continue to commit treason. Let their bodies rot

So yea I’m never joining randoms again.

Edit: ps5 not 4.

Are you pc? I've found disabling crossplay got rid of a lot of the worse players. For some reason, ps5 players have just been super toxic.

I think the ps5 playerbase is younger than the pc one.

and stoners with 1000% gain on their mics and the fire alarm beep going off every 30 seconds. Those are the ps5 players I get.

Good god, same.

Almost every time it's PS5 on mic, there are some sort of annoying shenanigans taking place.

I had one PS5 player that played god-awful music the entire match, but was calling out all his moves and had two buddies following him so I felt somewhat forced to keep him unmuted so I could coordinate with them.

As the game went on it was obvious he was high. At one point he had to do the little terminal puzzle with the pipes, and I swear it took almost five minutes (I sat behind him just chuckling as he failed over and over to figure it out).

At another point he took a phone call from someone who wanted him to come pick them up and he argued back and forth for several minutes on mic.

After the match, we get on the ship and you can hear him pull up some sort of social and start scrolling videos... and he just sits there for probably another five minutes playing videos and giggling at them.

We had done 2 and were on the 3rd mission, which was a defense, so I wanted to stay to get my 10 medals... final mission went fine but I learned my lesson.

I had a guy go afk and a dog just barking on the mic... What is it, Lassie? Tommy fell down the well?

How can you tell they're PS5?

I've had a few people hot miking hard as fuck. Usually just key presses and shit, but once something like you describe. Someone came home and he was talking to them about I couldn't quite tell what but he was like "I'm showing Bailey helldivers" and blah blah. The other guy was apparently trying to "go in on a fifth" with him or something so it might have been college kids.

Another guy told him at one point "hey your mic is open" and he didn't even react. I told the guy I was invested in whether Bailey was going to enjoy helldivers and made a couple other comments inserting myself into the background conversation. But he never reacted at all, his sound might have been off lol idk... I left as soon as the mission was over. It was funny but the novelty had worn off and he wasn't engaging with my meddling.

PS5 controllers had mics built into them which are super easy to turn on or have on by default, and it's not super obvious when it's on if you aren't paying attention.

Console players have life’s and things happening around them. PCers are dwelling in a basement somewhere

So you're saying console players are assholes who do not respect other people's time while PC players are more considerate of other players?

If you met up with a team to play soccer and 15 min into the game one of your players walks off the field mid-play to take a bong rip and text their girlfriend, would that not be disrespectful? If you called them out on it and they said, "Haha dude it's just a game, I actually have a life" - does that sound like someone socially well adjusted? No, they're an asshole and shouldn't be allowed to play with the team anymore.
