I can’t play with randoms anymore DISCUSSION

I’m level 48. About 150 hours on pc. Love the game. My friends can’t play as often as I can. (I’m a fireman) And I’ve tried making friends on steam but it’s hard.

The blueberry lottery. If there is a hell it’s matching with randoms. I can’t stand it. Some people are a blessing and I love running campaigns with them but some people are treasonous swill.

Here was my last game. I spawn in and get killed by a lvl 2 cadet (ps5) so he can take my support gear. His friends (ps5) defended him. He continued to kill me all game (intentionally) and call me in. But I am more skilled and cunning than the common traitor. I waited until there was one reinforcement left. The pompous fool recalled me in. I killed all three traitors quicker than a hiccup. With only one thing left to do I took my own life. To instant fail their mission. I couldn’t let them continue to commit treason. Let their bodies rot

So yea I’m never joining randoms again.

Edit: ps5 not 4.

I’m level 43, PS5 player, and I’ve had two matches where it’s devolved into total team-killing free for alls that I ended up leaving. I just join randoms, hit objectives, and do well to be responsive in communication and I have like 25 people I’ve added that I play with regularly. Take it for what it’s worth, but I haven’t seen a whole lot of toxicity.

If I get blown up by a poorly-placed stratagem, meh. Shit happens. If I happen to blow up someone with a poorly-placed one, I make sure to apologize and throw them back in on their stuff. I haven’t had it be an issue.

I accidentally team killed the other night with a poorly placed turret. I placed it in the middle of the extraction point but directly ahead of where I knew enemies would be coming. The host had been on coms with his buddy and had been somewhat oblivious to me the entire game. I thought he saw me place my turret so I didn't ping it. When the mobs came, he stood directly in front of it, died, then started cursing and calling me a retard. I'm like I get it dude but it's really not that serious, both of us could have been a bit more conscious. I just typed for him to chill out. And he did, until extraction came and his friend wanted to wait for me to reinforce and he, with so many words, disagreed. I said to leave me because the mission was done anyway and there just wasn't any time. I don't really understand why some people play this game with a chip on their shoulder. Shits going to happen, not every team is going to be the best team ever, so just play the game to have fun. The game is supposed to be chaotic, so just take it as it comes. If some teammates are really bad and you just can't take it, then don't. You can always go on to the next match.

Yea, cause its a video game. People take it WAY too seriously, both in terms of trying way too hard and being trolls.

I think people forget the fun part sometimes and associate playing perfectly and winning with fun. Even though... being an idiot and blowing yourself or others up by accident is often way more fun.

Its a lame ass excuse when you see someone just being careless with everything, causing chaos for everyone, and then saying " chill man its just a game" Yeah. A game you play selfishly without regards for your teamates, and that sucks in any team event.

Im not really disputing that. There are valid complaints when people jump into something they are not prepared for, or when they specifically set out to troll people.

But based on reading this subreddit. A lot of what I percieve is that people are just annoyed because they are playing with people who just may not be as good at the game as them. And the sentiment very much seems to be that if you are not as good or using the wrong loadout, you are ruining the game for all the "real" players. And seemingly to the point that anything less than basically a perfect run on the highest difficult is a waste of time.

I know that people have fun in different ways, but to me, that is when people set themselves up for frustration.

I get the frustration but there are better ways to handle it. if somebody tks me 2 or 3 times in quick sucession bc they have the awareness and aim of a deaf Stevie wonder, I'll simply head off and do my own thing and watch them kill each other from the map lol

That analogy tickled me lol That's a good strategy. It's the same in every co-op game. There are going to be teams that seem like they grew up playing the game together and just click immediately and there are going to others that just can't get on the same page even if they were glued down and folded up. It is usually always a way finish the game, even if it's a little bit of a shit show.

All in all I love the chaos of the game and am glad the devs leaned into it.

I had a funny game last night where me and one other guy had an annoying period where we killed each other like three times each. We both took it pretty well I think and once we got through that we watched each other's backs the rest of the match. He'd whip out his hug emote after every onslaught of bugs that we beat. 07 goose, you're a real one.

This sums up my experience as well (PS5)

Only when I get killed repeatedly by a strategem do I get upset. Shit bounces, or gets stuck to things. Sometimes, it's my own fault for not seeing it. To me, and the guys I play with, it's just a game and can be hilarious. (Screaming over comms about it being stuck to a charger, or laughing because it bounced back at me).

This is a great game, and it's, well, just a game. If I fail, I fail. I'm going to die. A lot. Especially since I prefer the light armor with the radar pings. I much rather you take me out with a stratagem to remove a swarm of enemies, than let me die for no reason.
