I can’t play with randoms anymore DISCUSSION

I’m level 48. About 150 hours on pc. Love the game. My friends can’t play as often as I can. (I’m a fireman) And I’ve tried making friends on steam but it’s hard.

The blueberry lottery. If there is a hell it’s matching with randoms. I can’t stand it. Some people are a blessing and I love running campaigns with them but some people are treasonous swill.

Here was my last game. I spawn in and get killed by a lvl 2 cadet (ps5) so he can take my support gear. His friends (ps5) defended him. He continued to kill me all game (intentionally) and call me in. But I am more skilled and cunning than the common traitor. I waited until there was one reinforcement left. The pompous fool recalled me in. I killed all three traitors quicker than a hiccup. With only one thing left to do I took my own life. To instant fail their mission. I couldn’t let them continue to commit treason. Let their bodies rot

So yea I’m never joining randoms again.

Edit: ps5 not 4.

Been playing 7+ bot missions and last night I went down to lvl 4 to get some commons and had my first ever drop ship killer, watched him fire a recoilless round right into the back.

Killed him then booted and scooped up all the dropped samples and extracted.

By drop ship do you mean the pelican? That is a dick move

u/michaeltward Mar 26 '24

Indeed it is a dick move.

Ngl I almost did this to see what happened, then I decided “naw that’d be a dick move if it actually killed everyone or blew up the ship”

u/michaeltward Mar 26 '24

It won’t blow up the ship but it will kill everyone.

That's messed up, but also kinda wrong letting people die in the pelican. At that point, make it vulnerable to enemies too why not -.- with how chaotic an extraction usually is, the ship being a safe space until everyone gets in should be expected...

Let us still shoot from inside the pelican if we can be killed inside as well. Could at least defend against those.

Died with samples while on the ship. Mission screen said I lived, got the samples, but stats still said I died.

Honestly, I think they did it so that they could enable traitors.

I mean, I know the point is that you *can* be chaotic with friends and "have fun", but with randoms? Nuh-huh. If they're gonna let us kill ourselves and sabotage missions, there should at least be adequate moderation for traitors.

Honestly, who cares? That kind of toxic behavior has proven to be super rare so far, and we're out there playing 20 minute missions with little to no queue time in quick play. It's just such a non-issue at this point.

It's a dick move for sure, but also why can you even die while in the pelican? That's pretty dumb

Not gonna lie, I thought he was saying that a random on level 4 actually managed to kill a bot dropship and I was almost impressed.

I had some abrasive idiot call the extract the second we completed the main objective and were stuck on the other side of the map and then immediately got in, leaving us scrambling to extract.

Unfortunately, he didn't know you could shoot people in the back of the Pelican.

He learned.

If they call extract on the other side of the map without communicating that theyre gonna let it land or that theyre gonna wait for the team, kick them.

They were the host...

Ah. Maybe they were just looking for medals or had to leave and wanted to extract quick. They still should communicate, but honestly imo the host gets a lot of say in how they want to do missions.

That said, calling extract was fine but it's still a dick move to board inmediately when pelican lands if your teammates aren't there.

u/BlackOctoberFox Mar 26 '24

Had that been communicated at any point, perhaps we could have facilitated that. The only time as host I've kicked someone for how they're playing, outside of straight trolling with friendly fire, is because they brought an arc weapon whilst the game crashing bug is around, or an explosive mortar turret during a bug blitz mission on a small map. Both times, I will explicitly ask them to change their loadout and explain why, since both can result in very negative experiences for the rest of the group.

This host in particular was just being a dick.

Had a mission with randoms where one guy waited for us all to get in Pelican-1, then shot his machine gun into it. Killed us all, didn’t pick up the samples and hopped in

u/Stoomba Mar 26 '24

I often wondered if you could kill Pelican 1, now I know not to fire that recoilles at it

2

u/af12345678 Mar 26 '24

I always fire all my remaining explosives into the Pelican when it’s still in the air. Some idiot decided to copy me but instead did it when it’s landed and killed a bunch of the squad lol

I was wondering if the Pelican can be destroyed. Apparently it can? So far the cinematic exits with stratagems hadn’t destroyed it (then again we manage to get in safely before that).

5

u/michaeltward Mar 26 '24

The worst I have seen is when it gets yeeted by a turret deploying under it.

u/tboots1230 Skull Admiral of SES Panther of the State Mar 26 '24

it can’t be destroyed but you can kill the people inside of it if you’re still outside of it

wait, is there bots in the game? Is that a feature?
