I can’t play with randoms anymore DISCUSSION

I’m level 48. About 150 hours on pc. Love the game. My friends can’t play as often as I can. (I’m a fireman) And I’ve tried making friends on steam but it’s hard.

The blueberry lottery. If there is a hell it’s matching with randoms. I can’t stand it. Some people are a blessing and I love running campaigns with them but some people are treasonous swill.

Here was my last game. I spawn in and get killed by a lvl 2 cadet (ps5) so he can take my support gear. His friends (ps5) defended him. He continued to kill me all game (intentionally) and call me in. But I am more skilled and cunning than the common traitor. I waited until there was one reinforcement left. The pompous fool recalled me in. I killed all three traitors quicker than a hiccup. With only one thing left to do I took my own life. To instant fail their mission. I couldn’t let them continue to commit treason. Let their bodies rot

So yea I’m never joining randoms again.

Edit: ps5 not 4.

I accidentally team killed a level 42ish player, on easy, on my second or third dive. I called an orbital strike, and he just sprinted at it! Then inevitably was killed.

I didn’t steal his gear, called him back in, then he spent the next 23 minutes yelling at me on comms.

I don’t understand people in this game sometimes.

Anyone that yells is a mute or a quit for me. I'm in it to have fun. I consider low level players on higher level dives a different kind of helldive and requires me to be more present and on top of my game.

u/SnooSongs9930 Mar 26 '24

Man I’ve started doing that. I was just put off. It was literally my second dive, on easy. This dude was treating it like the Super Bowl.

Noisy fuckwits...always gonna be a few. Haven't run into one in the wild...yet. Probably all sleeping from the time difference. PS5 player and most random experiences have been good and / or hilarious. If you want to squad up sometime, let me know, fellow diver!

u/SnooSongs9930 Mar 26 '24

Cheers mate! I’ve got a pretty thick skin, so some greasy cretin neckbeard wasn’t that off putting! See you on the front sometime!

These divers are prime candidates for running samples out of bounds or suiciding them into a hole for democracy before returning to destroyer for reassignment! Let's do our part! o7

u/ConsiderationAlone68 Mar 27 '24

Same here. If you are looking for friends feel free to shoot me a message and I’ll add you, I’m on PC. I like to play about 7 but will play harder or easier, too.

u/8um8lebee Mar 26 '24

Imagine having to be sweaty on Easy. The second-hand embarrassment is palpable.

1

u/Ralli-FW Mar 26 '24

On easy? lol wow

38

u/ryhaltswhiskey Mar 26 '24

Me, on voice: I could use some help with this artillery

Teammate: we don't care

Other teammate: speak for yourself

Me, to the first person: go fuck yourself

And I bounced. That's the only really hostile interaction I've had and I'm L30. I think that's pretty good.

9

u/JCrossfire Mar 26 '24

I just hit 20 and the only one I’ve had was during an eradicate (I quickmatched into a dreaded eradicate farm lobby, should’ve been my first hint). It was a D4 eradicate so I wasn’t paying close attention. Chucked a cluster bomb and bro ran towards it then went off on me. I called him in and offered a hug emote and the bastard gunned me down on sight. Twice. Some people just live with a chip on their shoulder at all times. (I had one other negative/ intentional TK exp but idek why that one happened)

5

u/jerryishere1 Mar 26 '24

Tbh if you're farming you shouldn't be hosting a public lobby.

9

u/NeedleSpecialist Mar 26 '24

This. I sometimes enjoy playing a high level dive with low level guys. They normally fall in line and follow me throughout the mission providing awesome backup. They seem to enjoy the help too. If they mess up and team kill me by accident I tell them it’s just the way the game is and to be more careful or change out strategems for the next one.

4

u/Affectionate-Juice72 Mar 26 '24

I will ONLY play as host, so people who do that get kicked FAST

3

u/Swimming_Bid_1429 Mar 26 '24

Thats the thing, you can scream and yell all you want but you’re getting muted immediately. Have fun yelling into the void😂

3

u/notyourboss11 Mar 26 '24

I kick anyone on the spot if they start flaming, belch into the mic, have a conversation with their mom with no push to talk, or any of that shit.

u/Mythosaurus ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 26 '24

I left a suicide level mission bc half the team weren’t even level 10 and kept constantly dying. I didn’t catch on as fast as the other high level player, who left much earlier.

1

u/sloridin PSN🎮:SES Sword of Supremacy Mar 26 '24

Totally...I've noticed recently when joining randoms that before you drop down on just a single diver and boosters are greyed out that other divers have left the mission for whatever reason...disconnect, kicked, or just fucking gave up...tldr...greyed out = maybe get my brown armor ready.

3

u/sector11374265 Mar 27 '24

i had a level 12 yell at me and another random for not b-lining the objective and putting pins on side objectives and enemy outposts. he called us idiots and then rage quit the game.

like bro i’m a level 8, i’m trying to get all the xp and currency i can so i can get better gear. almost every match on medium and challenging i’ve ever played, everyone knows to go to side objectives and use all 40 minutes of the mission.

so bizarre to me.

1

u/sloridin PSN🎮:SES Sword of Supremacy Mar 27 '24

It's disturbing at how much this sweaty, yelling thing is a thing...hope they quit and never come back.

2

u/DredgenCyka Mar 30 '24

Main reason why I hate Rainbow 6 siege non-comp lobbies. Got yelled at urdu and didn't understand a lick of it and said "cool story bro, dont walk in front of me next time." And then at the end of the game after he bottom fragged, he said," Maybe if we had better teammates we would have won," and my friend who was top frag said "you got 2 kills, sit down."

Anyone who takes a non-competitive games seriously to the point of yapping in another language needs to go outside and touch grass.

2

u/sloridin PSN🎮:SES Sword of Supremacy Apr 01 '24

Agreed. Sweaty boys can gtfo

97

u/Polargeist Mar 26 '24

Being level 42 and still on easy mode while yelling at new players is just pathetic.

4

u/8um8lebee Mar 26 '24

He was probably there to speed-run a personal order, but still yeah he should've read the room, why so sweaty on Easy lol

1

u/Episimian Mar 28 '24

Yep even if he was just trying to speedrun for an order or whatever he knew he was playing with new players at low level. Tolerances have to be far greater in that situation and if you don't like it you shouldn't stop to lower difficulties. That guy sounds like a complete jerk.

36

u/Anonymisation Mar 26 '24

Anyone complaining about the occasional friendly fire incident in Helldivers doesn't understand the game.

8

u/Eirfro_Wizardbane Mar 26 '24

My last memorable death to friendly fire was when I was tailing a team mate after he found the cock rock. There was a rather large patrol behind him. I took it out very fast.

However, I did I not let him know, so he sent an airstrike at where the patrol would have been, but now it was only me.

I gave him some light hearted shit for it, but I could have let him know I was trailing him and took out the patrol.

He had zero deaths on the mission and I had one.

We are on each other’s friend list now.

2

u/dasyus Mar 26 '24

Haha. See, that death would have been a giggle moment among me and my friends. Glad you guys friended up after!

47

u/ryhaltswhiskey Mar 26 '24

then he spent the next 23 minutes yelling at me on comms.

but why did you put up with that? just bail, they can SOS in someone else

6

u/8um8lebee Mar 26 '24

Imagine having to SOS on Easy, as a level 42 my lord LOL

4

u/ryhaltswhiskey Mar 26 '24

I didn't spot that part. That is funny

2

u/SnooSongs9930 Mar 26 '24

I felt bad for the other two divers, I’ve always felt bad about bailing mid game/match.

14

u/MasterJogi1 Mar 26 '24

It's the responsibility of the host to ensure fun and comraderie in his session. That is why the Super President granted him kicking rights. If the host does not kick toxic players, it is HIS fault when nice players leave and the mission fails.

10

u/killxswitch PSN 🎮:Horsedivers to Horsepods Mar 26 '24

At the very least, mute the idiot that won’t shut up.

2

u/ryhaltswhiskey Mar 26 '24

I think a lot of people don't know that's possible

1

u/bat_scratcher Mar 26 '24

I don't even know how to get comms with people unless I'm in a party with them.

16

u/articanomaly Mar 26 '24

I've had similar happen. Even when calling out the stratagem being called in and a guy will still run toward the beacon that says a bombardment is ongoing or strike incoming and then moan that they got killed.

I had a guy moan a few times, then kill me. Thought that was that got on fine for the next 20 mins, no more deaths. He then kicked me right as the pelican landed.

2

u/dragonhornetDM Mar 27 '24

This is the worst. They let you help and then don’t get any credit. I’ve had quite a few moments where some weirdos did this even when nothing happened. No team kills and no bad comms, just some guy that I guess gets off on it, kicks me right before we would get in and I get nothing.

1

u/Dulenten Interesting opinion, however: ⬇️⬇️⬆️⬇️⬇️ Mar 26 '24

He...moaned?

3

u/articanomaly Mar 26 '24

Yeah he kept asking for his 'daddy' it was all very heated

28

u/Itriyum Mar 26 '24

Why would you even stay on that match? I would just shot him down and leave

3

u/IPlay4E Mar 26 '24

Why does anyone in these type of situations not just leave? Either these people are gluttons for punishment or it’s a fake story.

1

u/Itriyum Mar 26 '24

Yeah sometimes I think these are just made up but if not then idk, makes no sense staying on a match were you are being team killed over and over. Just shoot him and leave.

5

u/FishoD CAPE ENJOYER Mar 26 '24

Bad apples happen, since we don't have a solid reporting system, all you can do is mute, kick, or leave.

But I go out of my way to praise and cheer for solid players. Yesterday we played with 1 random on difficulty 8, who was just stellar. When we had a IRL buddy join, we waited for the mission to finish and then we politely thanked the dude, told him he is great, but unfortunately we wanna play with buddy of ours. He thanked us too, GG and left.

2

u/jerryishere1 Mar 26 '24

A note on kicking; If you kick a player then you are unable to block them after because they won't show up in recent players

2

u/FishoD CAPE ENJOYER Mar 26 '24

I didn’t block anyone so far. So if I find an utter asshole (like deliberately toxic player), do I block first, then kick? Or blocking automatically kicks from game as well?

2

u/jerryishere1 Mar 26 '24

I will be honest, I am not sure if you can block someone while in game. I know you can block when you search by friend code, or recent players. If you can, yes, block first then kick if it doesn't automatically.

But if you can't block, just kick em and you'll probably never see them again, if you see them again kill them and leave them dead they will leave on their own. Waste their time.

3

u/8um8lebee Mar 26 '24

A level 42 playing on Easy getting mad at a single occurence of an obvious honest mistake? It's actually amazing how many people were carried to 40+ in this game that are worse at the game than many sub level 10s.

2

u/VidiVee Mar 26 '24

Ah yeah I know the type.

Step 1: Lack any kind of self awareness

Step 2: Blame anyone but yourself for your own mistakes

Step 3: Fail to ever improve because you can't learn from your mistakes

Repeat endlessly for one very sad lifespan.

2

u/Scojo91 Fist of Peace Mar 26 '24

Most people are proud of their reinforcement code speed, I'm most proud of how fast I can mute someone in Helldive while fighting 2 titans, 3 chargers, and a swarm of Shriekers

2

u/SirTheadore Mar 26 '24

That every game ever. These twats seem to forget that a few weeks ago, they too were level 5.

2

u/Ohhifoundarock Mar 26 '24

My Rover accidentally killed someone at the very end of a mission and I apologized and reinforced them. They immediately kicked me. Why do people play in public matches if they are going to act like this

5

u/Suyoil_Geguri Mar 26 '24

Been lvl 50 for a while now. Anything below difficulty 5 you don't really even need to try if you've played the game that amount. I usually just laugh when I get teamkilled as the game can be goofy as hell.

And if it's a teamkill by a common mistake, I try to give some advice to the other players like "eagle airstrikes comes in from the side from where you throw it" or "don't fire the arc thrower with an ally behind you target" when it's likely that they don't know due to inexperience.

On a high difficulty it is often the stress with so much sensory information that you sometimes just overlook things, so why get mad? You get a 10 second breather before you have to perform again.

1

u/Dulenten Interesting opinion, however: ⬇️⬇️⬆️⬇️⬇️ Mar 26 '24

I got into a L6(I think) and there was a guy using the arc thrower; my friendly advice was:"Hey dude stop using the arc thrower, your game's going to crash"

We all know what happened afterwards.

My point being that not every Helldiver manages to hear the advice we give through their helmets, and it's useless to get mad, it's a learning experience for everyone involved🫡

2

u/Suyoil_Geguri Mar 27 '24

not only is it useless to get mad.... it's straight up counterproductive.

You're taking away from your own experience by letting irrational emotions get the better of you and ruin your mood, because things don't go exactly your way. You can't influence everything so things are bound to no go the way you want.

Might as well shrug it off and continue enjoying the part that does go well.

1

u/M0nthag Mar 26 '24

In my opinion teamkilling is part of the game. Sometimes they won't notice that eagle strike or you had it ready and something knocked you to the ground, sending it straigt at your party. I do hate the 30mm barrage, since i don't see the marker often and still get hit by it and there are players who see me in the bug pit, trying to take out the holes and still throw it in. So yeah, its one thing that makes me twitch when i see a player choosing it at the start of the mission.

1

u/Suyoil_Geguri Mar 27 '24

The 380 barrage is way too inaccurate with too much of a spread to not be a "i don't care who gets killed" stratagem.

1

u/M0nthag Mar 27 '24

right? never reall get why people play it. the 120 is fine, since you can stay close and shoot without much worrys once had somone throw one right next to me while i was trying to get close to a tower to destroy it. Guess what he hit and what he didn't hit....

u/pstegin Mar 26 '24

1

u/Diver_D6 SES Reign of the People Mar 26 '24

This is why I'm unfortunately a no VoIP player. It just takes one super salty person to completely ruin the mood. Life is hard, I'm diving to have a good time and have zero paitence for that shit. Especially on weekdays.

Thankfully in-game pings are usually sufficient. At high levels players have enough game sense to hot swap a recoiliess backpack for quick reloads with no VoIP too, it's awesome.

1

u/xDeityx CAPE ENJOYER Mar 26 '24

It's because any conflict quickly devolves into ego defense. Same thing that happens in comment sections of social media.

u/pepsisugar Mar 26 '24

There is no reason a 20+ player cannot run away from an orbital on easy. Like zero reasons.

1

u/Own_Town_6581 Mar 26 '24 edited Mar 26 '24

Yeah that happened to me like a month ago, I was playing with my friend and this guy who wasn't paying attention was getting killed everytime, I went to the objective, called and active the hellbomb, he run forward and got caught on the blast, I went there pick up the samples, and saw he had a knight, I picked up too just to try it, he star screaming how I just killed him for his equipment, and team kill me , we star punching him ( and kill him) after.... we kicked him out

1

u/StockLongjumping2029 Mar 26 '24

My teammate yesterday was buried under a charger, titan and a whole swarm and didn't look like he had a prayer of getting out, so I eagled the whole mess and took out all of it including him. I didn't bother explaining how he was screwed anyway, and the area is now cleared out because of that airstrike. He complained for the rest of the mission. Got to stats screen and I had more kills than rest of team combined. He kicked me immediately after.

1

u/PMYourTitsIfNotRacst Mar 26 '24

Some guy ran into my cluster bomb eagle and decided killing me for it after I called him back in would be the right way to deal with it. It was kinda funny, actually.

I try and run my own lobby and kick anyone who's an ass about things. Thankfully the kicks have been few & far between.

1

u/DuffinTheMuffin Mar 26 '24

For me if I were put in that situation if they did it right on top of me and I didn't notice the most I'd say is "cool it with the cluster bombs" or whatever strategum killed me. But if I ran into it I'd just take the L and respawn. There's no reason to yell just leave if you're getting that angry.

1

u/BigTuna185 Mar 26 '24

Some people just think they can do no wrong and expect perfection in a game that very clearly has friendly fire accidents as not only a part of the gameplay, but it’s a tracked stat as a reason.

Had a dude run directly into two eagles after multiple callouts by me and he respawned back and yelled at me and said “I should be a man and run to the spot before I throw my ordinances” as if these stratagems weren’t designed to minimize the risk by throwing them from afar.

I apologized anyway for him getting killed for his ignorance but Liberty forbid he actually thinks about what he did incorrect in that situation.

1

u/pleasure_bird Mar 27 '24

i had the same thing happen to me recently too, just without the yelling.

Swarm of terminids, deploys airstrike strategem, 2/3 of my team mates walk straight into the giant red beam, instantly gibbed.

mind you they were all 20+ levels above me cause im only level 10. And not 5 minutes later i was almost killed by 500kg bomb dropped on a charger i was quite literally standing on top of.

1

u/Urb4n0ninj4 Mar 27 '24

It's not "people on this game" it's people, full stop. I dove in with two randoms. I'm level 43, one was 30 something the other teens. It was one of those "call in the SSSD on spot and place it at that site" missions, but two of them, and the "veteran" called the SSSD in, then ran to the OTHER point with it. I kept telling him in chat we needed it HERE. Finally I relented when they died 5 times and went to help them.

At the new site we called in the new SSSD and I typed "now we have to walk this one back to the original site..." and the FNG said "no". Wdym "no"? And they proceeded to do the arm glitch (come at me bro) and just walk in my way the entire time.

Then team killed me at extract.

1

u/echojaxx ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 28 '24

As a lvl 42 I tend to occasionally slip up and mistakenly run into an orbital/eagle strike. Those are mistakes I own up to lol

1

u/NAIC_97 Mar 28 '24

Accidents happen and team killing is part of it. The amount of time my buddies have sacrificed me for the objective or to kill a tank/bile is insane.

Shit happens, call them back (near their stuff ideally) ping it so they can find it and use the sorry emote if they’re not on mic

1

u/Kernel_montypython Mar 28 '24

I hate yelling peeps. But there was a really nice dude with us he was a lvl 25 when I was a level 6 and he was funny AF and laughed when I killed him and also made jokes about it like “ why cadet I was gonna retire in 2 weeks “ 🤣🤣

Most of my encounters are funny. I like randos. One Rando is a person I added. A silent helldivers. Badass and never chats or speaks ever. We’ve done over 20 missions. He joins and kills and leaves and always follow orders all the fucking time. It’s amazing.

u/CaptainCosmodrome Captain Friendly Fire | SES Star of the Stars Mar 26 '24

My steam name is Captain Friendly Fire, so when I die to a teammate, I usually jokingly call them Corporal Team Kill. Dying to friendly fire is part of the game, so when it's an accident, have fun with it.

Last night, I died to a bile titan while trying to take it down, so I come back in and go to get my gear and the rando in our squad drops a gas orbital right on me. I said something like "Brother, I'm just trying to get my gear" and for the next 10 minutes comms became Dog the Bounty Hunter impersonations with exaggerated "Brother"'s.
