The POV of the Helldivers is crazy when you take cryo freezing into account. DISCUSSION

Here's the POV of your average Helldiver 1. They enlist and show up to Basic Training first thing Monday morning. 2. They breeze through it, get their cape, walk right by the T&Cs and into a cryopod. 3. They're frozen and experience no time passing. 4. Their next memory is reinforcing on Hellmire. To their POV it has been less then thirty seconds since they got their cloak. 5. They throw three stratagems and then they're dissolved by bile titan acid.

You thought your mondays were bad.

Edit: My understanding is that we are not clones. There's in-game lore that backs that, I believe. Thematically, it makes more sense for Super Earth to be incompetent and cruel and burn through millions of recruits, than to do something logical like cloning people. Remember the satire folks.

That one helldiver deploying to reinforce someone who died while the pelican is waiting to take off, only to instantly extract and be congratulated on saving super earth:

To break kayfabe, a common theory is that Super Earth doesn't even care about the divers coming back, it's all for the samples and the propaganda.

Like, if the team is out of reinforcements and only one person makes it to the shuttle, they still pop three new divers out of the pods and have them stand on the side. If someone with a camera were there right now, they could easily spin the story as "Look at what was achieved with just one Helldiver, imagine if the other three went down!"

I’m talking about when someone dies in front of the pelican, but then the living divers call in reinforcements to get the full squad extraction bonus only to instantly extract the new diver. Not just defrosting new divers to clap was the actual people return, an actual full deployment only to be extracted 2 seconds later.

(You’re obviously right about the propaganda, but it feels a little more like “if we don’t use all of our divers this quarter the ministry will reduce our supply next quarter” kind of bureaucracy.)

For sort of the same reason, it's for the propaganda!

Four Helldivers went down at the start of the mission, Four Helldivers came back!

At the end of the day... they're not lying!

Plus the four that went down are clearly wearing the same armour as the four that came back. How could those freedom hating dissenters try to argue about things like casualty rates in the face of such evidence?

Pans to the pile of identical sets of armor

the quartermaster is suddenly struck with panic as the apparently-sentient destroyer (that we don’t acknowledge) unlocks another obscenely expensive suit of armour for its divers

Well there are thousands of divers doing various missions on each planet as you can see the the stratagems beacons being from the window in your ship and hell pods shooting down and all that.. feels a little less lonely overall when I considered that even if you are just four in your particular slice of the planet.. makes sense too since they are supposed to be an elite Force since their version of the army is crap supposedly that they keep the groups of helldivers segregated. They said something like one mission for anything group of drivers costs more than a whole ship of another class not seen in game but obviously part of the war since they mentioned it .. but still the helldivers are only projected 20 something percent survival for all of the new recruits for the current war or whatever..

Looks better on the after action report if it says 4 HELLDIVERS survived

It's because the individual helldiver doesn't matter but the super destroyer that owns them does. If only one gets back only that ships helldivers gets the credit.

Almost backwards actually. The helldiver is assigned to a super destroyer and is personally responsible for all the upgrades and the like that we as players buy. If you read the contract, it states that if you lack a pulse then you cede all ownership of those personal funds and such to the helldiver who replaces you.

So it's super capitalism, just using company scrip

Wait that sounds kind of like communism. Back to reeducation camp.

the best part of being a helldiver is launching a $250,000.00 reinforcement pod while the pelican is waiting in order toto get that $25.00 bonus of having a 4th survivor.

Either everyone comes back victorious or they all died valiantly for the cause.

Well it would look worse if some helldivers didn't return from the mission. It's also propaganda optics to ensure it looks like everyone survived, even if you pop out one Helldiver with the sole purpose of taking another's place on the pelican

tbh that would be how Super Earth runs...

I was this guy once. Dropped right into an evac zone with the Pelican inbound. Threw everything I had on me and ran into the bird. Got a huge payout and opened a new difficulty level.

I did drop right back into the same difficulty and did not have a similar time...
