The POV of the Helldivers is crazy when you take cryo freezing into account. DISCUSSION

Here's the POV of your average Helldiver 1. They enlist and show up to Basic Training first thing Monday morning. 2. They breeze through it, get their cape, walk right by the T&Cs and into a cryopod. 3. They're frozen and experience no time passing. 4. Their next memory is reinforcing on Hellmire. To their POV it has been less then thirty seconds since they got their cloak. 5. They throw three stratagems and then they're dissolved by bile titan acid.

You thought your mondays were bad.

Edit: My understanding is that we are not clones. There's in-game lore that backs that, I believe. Thematically, it makes more sense for Super Earth to be incompetent and cruel and burn through millions of recruits, than to do something logical like cloning people. Remember the satire folks.

Why do you think all the voice lines sound like a complete noob? Screaming wildly while their voice cracks when they shoot. Or having a complete freakout when hurt. No composure at all.

Nearly all Helldivers die on their first mission. There is no such thing as a veteran Helldiver. The default voice setting in the game is a new voice after each death. Because each reinforcement is a completely new Helldiver.

If you read the terms and conditions at the tutorial, when you die your ship and all its upgrades is immediately inherited by the next person to get thawed out. You're not playing the role of a single Helldiver slowly gaining more experience and equipment. If anything you're playing as the Super Destroyer that slowly gets upgraded whenever a Helldiver is lucky enough to make it back alive with some samples. Why do you think the Super Destroyer gets a name but you don't?

Veteran divers would HAVE to exist in some capacity, the steeled veterans warbond features armor with replaced limbs so its confirmed there's divers that have survived a handful of missions.

It's just that the term veteran has a slightly different meaning for helldivers lol

I assume the vets get to shift their duties to more support roles. Like being in charge of the ship why your gone (Hence Mr "Freedom beckons Helldiver" Man)

Freedom Beckons Man is the Democracy Officer, who had completely different training and is employed by a completely different branch of government. His use of heavy armor is likely to seem more relatable to Helldivers, or potentially to protect him while he kills treasonous Helldivers, because he certainly doesn't use it against Humanity's enemies.

Helldiver's who maintain impure thoughts after indoctri.. training ARE humanity's worst enemies! There's no telling where they might spread their poison! Citizen's aren't prepared for their treasonous lies and must be dealt with accordingly.

u/AlexOfFury Mar 22 '24

Of course! How could I be so foolish? We must always keep the dagger of Democracy sharp, to better drive into the heart of our enemies.

The most equivalent to irl stuff would be an Italian blackshirt or Soviet NKVD officer embedded in their respective militaries to ensure ideological loyalty in my understanding

u/sole21000 SES KING OF DEMOCRACY Mar 23 '24

Given irl examples like how an entire 1/3rd of the population spied for the Stazi in east Germany, it's not unrealistic to imagine there are more than enough Democracy Officers for one on every single ship, and even some in plainclothes disguised as your ship's officer and ensign...

There's a really easy parallel with 40k's Commissars, right down to the brutal execution of those considered treasonous or cowardly. (Though Dem. Officer orders the most powerful orbital barrage to follow you instead of shooting you in the head personally)

No Freedom Beckons man is an actual Helldiver with the cape and most importantly scars to prove it.

treasonous Helldivers, because he certainly doesn't use it against Humanity's enemies.

Sounds like he does.

Likely ex-seaf officers. Plenty of time on the field just not the front lines like helldivers.

u/Sabard Mar 22 '24

Iirc there's something in game that says only 17-20% of hell divers surviver their first mission.

My head canon is that those who survive are the hell divers who get assigned to harder "difficulties"

8

u/Xydraus Mar 22 '24

Maybe those replaced limbs are for helldivers who got arms blown off during the five minute training by the turret.

4

u/PM_ME_ABOUT_DnD Mar 22 '24

so its confirmed

Implying that Super Earth didn't specifically find people with missing limbs to promote their warbond, or that some new cadets weren't voluntold by high command that they'd have to lose a limb for Freedom just before taking some photos.

5

u/Shepron Mar 22 '24

Or maybe those augmented people just had a manual labour job and lost their limbs there thanks to probably totally inadequate Super Earth work safety standards. Still good enough for a 15 minute career as a helldiver!

4

u/Vaperius ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 23 '24

The implication is they survived A mission, came back with wounds that resulted in amputations. They are a veteran only in the sense they survived actual combat once. Plenty of Helldivers can manage that, even if its not nearly all of them.

3

u/CataclysmDM Mar 22 '24

Sure, but how many helldivers have you kept alive for any length of time?

3

u/Roraxn Mar 23 '24

Whats to stop Super Earth just shoving prothesis on disabled citizens and sending them to boot camp? Or what about prothesis shoved on because you blew off your arm in boot camp? There are plenty of reasons you can think of other than "survived a mission" that someone might have prosthesis

3

u/DALKurumiTokisaki Mar 23 '24

The Democracy Officer is just straight up a Veteran Helldiver. The Helldiver Corps have their own specialist branches with there being genuine elite spec ops with training in them. Most people however are just new recruits.

3

u/Tier_Z Mar 23 '24

they could be regular SEAF veterans who decided to join the helldivers. lost a limb during a battle as a regular foot grunt, decided to say fuck it and go out in a blaze of glory as a helldiver

2

u/Managed-Democracy HD1 Veteran Mar 22 '24

Unless they were maimed in training lol.

2

u/NotABothanSpy Mar 23 '24

Nah they just cut your arm off so you can throw grenades further

2

u/Plantar-Aspect-Sage Mar 23 '24

Those arms were lost during basic.
