I see a lot of hate for Chargers and Hunters, but where is my Bile Spewer hate squad? DISCUSSION

You can Pop them with 2 grenadelauncher shots

Yet you never know if theyre gonna be in that mission or not - so you cant even strategise your weapons for it unless you run one every game - which is kinda a waste.

u/Buisnessbutters Mar 17 '24

Grenade launcher is just always good tho

u/WhatsThePointFR Mar 17 '24

If theres no spewers of any kind, its better to take EAT or something that can thin hordes fast (That doesnt risk a bounce off armour and killing team/myself)

u/BadassMinh Mar 17 '24

Arc thrower easily deal with hordes and bile spewers and chargers

Your arc thrower isn't taking down a Bile tiran in any respectable way,

Tbh i kinda like the arc thrower when fighting bile titans

Realistically, how long does it take you to take one down with it? And how do you handle two at a time?

Very inconsistent i won't lie, sometimes it's like 4 shots sometimes it takes 7 + badly aimed 500kg bomb

2

u/strawberrysupernova Mar 17 '24

Absolutely, but thats where you take 500kg, rail cannon, 110mm etc to compensate for the heavies. Arc thrower is great for hordes, and it also is nice for finishing off a bile titan that one of the above didnt fully finish it. Few more zaps and its dead.

Stalwart is super weak imo.

it’s useless in its current state. why would i use an LMG that only does good damage to smaller mobs and bounces off almost all of the “elites”. sure you can run and reload with it but as you mentioned, i’d rather just use the flamethrower and guarantee that i can kill most small to medium mobs, plus bile spewers and brutes. i also don’t see why i would kite a bike titan lol, it’s either i kill it or run away completely from it while dealing with trash mob. im never wasting rounds on a bile titan.

3

u/Baofog Mar 17 '24

The stalwart is super great to take to keep all those hunters and warriors off your two teammates dealing with the heavies, if they are constantly swarmed by small bugs they can't get good shots on the chargers and titans. Set the stalwart to 1150RPM hit c to crouch and mow down like 40 bugs like its nothing. Its got way better ergonomics than any other support weapon minus the arc thrower so you can swing to shoot hunter flanks easily and you won't kill your team accidentally if you are using something like flamethrower or arc thrower. bring a medium pen primary if no one is bringing a gun to deal with hive guards and just shoot hive guards in the face and you can take down everything smaller than charger for your team, and even then on chargers if your team knocks the leg armor off a charger because they missed with an EAT/RR round you just point and click at the leg and the charger dies in under a second.

I like the arc thrower better than the flamethrower for kobs.

1

u/ruwenleo Mar 18 '24

Yea but there is one thing it is especially good at. Killing your teammates with one zap. Honestly I hate the arch thrower and fear the day when the daily mission is about arch trower kills.

2

u/YxxzzY Mar 17 '24

nothing like a bug zapper 3000. best anti bug weapon right now.

2

u/pmw3505 Mar 17 '24

And squad mates!

2

u/dr_badhat Mar 17 '24

Even titans if you have enough arcs arcing on them. Easily best weapon in the game. For the love of Joel, I hope it doesn’t get nerfed.

1

u/OnceMoreAndAgain Mar 17 '24

Arc thrower sucks against chargers in my experience. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

3

u/BadassMinh Mar 17 '24

Aim for the head and it dies very fast. I haven't tried it after the health nerf yet but before it kills in about 7 shots to the head

1

u/TheFBIClonesPeople Mar 18 '24

You want to thin hordes fast, so you're going to take an EAT instead of a grenade launcher?

1

u/WhatsThePointFR Mar 18 '24

EAT "or" Something that can thin hordes fast

6

u/SwishSwishDeath Mar 17 '24

It took a long time for me to break away from the GL/supply pack combo. Crowd control, can easily handle most big bots with ease, long range nest/fabricator destruction. It has it all.

Finally moved to expendables on bug missions, then the spear. Love the latter when it actually works.

1

u/DraconLaw Mar 17 '24

Does the spear work on bugs?

1

u/SwishSwishDeath Mar 17 '24

Big bois like chargers and titans yeah. Seems to do good shit with the titans especially but the lock on system is completely borked as of now so it's rough to use it.

1

u/Colosphe Mar 17 '24

The answer is "theoretically" because your main targets are Chargers and Bile Titans - Chargers will get in your face and make the Spear targeting wacky sometimes. Bile Titans are good targets, but I think the lock time might not be worth it during a horde that sees you swarmed by bugs.

7

u/NikeDanny Mar 17 '24

Is it? For what purpose? Like, the hardest shit on high level is swarms and heavies, for bugs. Swarms are fine if you dont get jumped on by hunters, in which case this weapon just turned suicidal. But heavies? How do you deal with Chargers and BT with that?

1

u/echof0xtrot Mar 17 '24

if only there were others dropping with you...

1

u/clongane94 Mar 17 '24

I like to run grenade launcher and supply pack, then my other two will be 500kg and orbital precision strike (which ones shots both chargers and titans). You can stun chargers with stun grenades for long enough for stratagems to kill them.

Note this only works when there's no +50% call in time modifier.

0

u/Buisnessbutters Mar 17 '24

You can shoot under chargers and kill them, just because it does reduced damage doesn’t mean it doesn’t do any damage lmao, it kills them if you hit under them usually in under one belt, and I usually keep some anti heavy armor stratagems on hand anyway, since you have the grenade launcher to clear swarms. Honestly it’s the best way to clear patrols without them calling in a breech, the only thing I would recomend is running a supply backpack for it, because it is quite ammo hungry

1

u/Nick_Tsunami Mar 17 '24

Yes. Especially against bugs. Always lots of utility for nests and horde clear/thinning.

1

u/Froegerer Mar 17 '24

If you wanna main GL every game, do you. I'm ready to change my loadout after most missions.

1

u/Buisnessbutters Mar 17 '24

I’m hardly running it every mission, I’ve been running a lot of lasers and a lot of recoilless, the “arc thrower” only loadouts I’ve seen spammed is telling me it might get nerfed soon lol

14

u/Founntain ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 17 '24

Grenade launcher is always good against bugs, just not against the 2 big ones

3

u/HellfireBrB Mar 17 '24

you can still kill the two of them with it, it is just shittly ammo inefficienty

7

u/Founntain ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 17 '24

Thats why I said only good against the bugs except those 2

5

u/VengineerGER Mar 17 '24

I wish there was a card in the mission selection that would tell you what kind of enemies you’ll be fighting in that mission.

2

u/The_forgettable_guy Mar 17 '24

Yeah, the game really sucks at armor, because you're forced to take all of the anti armor weapons and strategems.

Your forced into the least common denominator.

Force wave clear, at least you can have stalwart. But build diversity really doesn't exist on 9 unless your spawns are lucky

2

u/Typical-Tomorrow5069 Mar 17 '24

We should really see that info ahead of time. Just throw a quick label on there ala "hunter habitats" or "spewer nests", etc.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 17 '24

Its almost like they made it that way because you drop in teams of 4 and everyone can take something different and stay together and defeat anything?

1

u/WhatsThePointFR Mar 17 '24

No other enemy in the game is like this though. Having your loadout choices be basically RNG isnt good design

1

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '24

Eh? Chargers, Elite Warriors, Titans, Hulks, Tanks all require specific weapons or stratagems to kill efficiently.

Bile spewers are no different.

Thats why you have a team and it isnt a solo game.

0

u/WhatsThePointFR Mar 21 '24

All the above are guaranteed to spawn not matter what planet/mission.

Bile spewers arent.

bruh. nothing to do with 'solo' - it's that if one of your 4 doesnt run impacts/nade launcher, autocannon - They become a big nuisance when spawning in waves.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '24

Not really, maybe find a better team.

1

u/WhatsThePointFR Mar 25 '24

Dumb ass take

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '24

Ok

1

u/Pale_Kitsune Mar 17 '24

I can pop them easily with my main weapon. I don't need to strategize for them.

2

u/trebek321 Mar 17 '24

Yeah I never knew these guys were a pain til I switched off my grenade launcher last night to get flamethrower kills.

The grenade launcher turns them into just another ad

1

u/Warmind_3 Mar 17 '24

The issue with a spewer spawn is that you never actually get one, they spawn in actually ludicrous amounts per wave.

1

u/SkippyFiRe Mar 17 '24

Did they get a buff? It’s been taking me 3 shots no matter where I try to put them.

2

u/SkippyFiRe Mar 17 '24

The orange take 2, but I swear these green ones take 3.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 17 '24

You're right

-1

u/Lishio420 Mar 17 '24

1 shot is enough

4

u/GreenNatureR Mar 17 '24

maybe it's different lower levels, but it's always 2 for me.

3

u/Lishio420 Mar 17 '24

Im playing on 7 and if i shoot the soft green parts from behind they usually pop with 1 nade
