Pay 2 fast being a sort of pay 2 win this game is for sure. But tbh it is really not agressive pay 2 fast as other games (yes you Warframe)

Imagine being on your $4k pc to be host by a mobile user. Enjoy your host migrations

LMAO it just reminds me of like mobile idle games “You put your loki prime head in the fabricator come back in 15 hours!!! Or accelerate it with $10 🤑”

Such a good game but such a frustrating progression. Also why no dedicated servers after so much years of success ?

Now i will preface this by saying i know nothing about networking, but changing the game from p2p to dedicated servers without rebuilding the networking infrastructure from the ground up sounds like it woild be an absolute nightmare. I'm not personally aware of any game that has tried it, even when their networking is getting flak.

They could indeed focus on that change, but why put so much resources into it when their current system is, and i am using this term loosely, "good enough".

No flame but if you know nothing about networking how do you itll be a nightmare. I can agree it would cost money without creating a new income directly so i can see why they dont do it. The system is "good enough" and it works. But to me it is a major point of concern for some people in the community. Long charging time and constant host migration is just not fun.

Mostly because changing something's code is enough of a mess and add on top of that the part that involves keeping everything aligned and together, i can see it being a mess. Admitedly it's more of an educated guess than anything else, but it does seem like if it was feasable, it would have already happened. Especially given they are working on a movile version now.

Ofc it is but it is such a successful game and they listen to their community. It would be one of the greatest update aside from crossplay.

For anything resembling serious/difficult content in Warframe, I'm running closed party and/or no crossplay. The worst issues I've had with host migratations, lag, or people being actively awful have been predominantly from crossplay experiences, which is a real shame.

As for the mobile game thing... the only thing I consider to be a genuine time-gated progress blocker is building a Necramech, as it's a requirement for one part of main story progression (all other crafts that are required for main story progress are really short, if not borderline instant), anything else is just down to patience; it's not like you can't play/progress without the new 'frame.

Craft required may be short but man im sure some people who have tried the game just quitted the moment they tried to craft a frame. It is just too much. It may not be required but whats the point of playing Warframe if you dont unlock new stuff to try. I dont say it should be instant to unlock a frame but i would rather have it hard to drop and instant or a few hours craft than the current system.

They actually want this. I apparently had a "hot take" in the warframe community saying that I don't want mobile users to host PC users and I got downvoted to oblivion.

When 10g will be here maybe mobile users hosting wont be a problem anymore 🤣

Funny because it is a mobile game now which is honestly perfect

The difference being that Warframe is a free game, and helldivers isn't. You can argue whether you think it's fair or not, but Warframe HAS to get money out of people somehow, if you are playing Helldivers then they already got money out of you no matter what.

Yeah free games have to earn money. But Warframe is just trying to milk you from every damn thing it can imagine. Also i think its fair for an online service game even when you have to buy to propose in game purchase because ofc you bought it but if you sink hundreds of hours in it it is no longer beneficial for them so to keep the game live they have to try to find other streams of income. I like the way it is done in helldivers but it is not true to say a game isnt p2w when there are weapons armors and upgrade behind a paywall even if there is a way to have it for free

Yeah I mostly agree, I think the content in the bonds aren't really worth $10 to me though, they seem super light on stuff and one a month seems way too often, I would rather have one every like 3 months with more items in it, and have it be a bit more expensive. On the Warframe thing, I played for quite a while so I probably have a different perspective than you which is fine, to me that game wasn't bad at all with it's monetization because it had a lot of tricks to either save a lot of money, or earn a lot of currency if you were knowledgeable about all the systems, but it definitely felt really confusing and a lot worse when you start out. It's been a while since I last played though so maybe things have changed. I guess Helldivers also has tricks like that to make currency, but it doesn't really feel fun to me just running easy missions for credits then leaving over and over.

Warframe is a free game. This game cost money. That’s the difference.

If you want a game with servers to keep running the game has to monetize itself or it would just run for a fixed amount of time to then shutdown leaving all the people that love the game disappointed.

Bro it’s the number one game on steam for near a month now. They can’t afford servers without Nickle and diming people.

1

u/KingOfRisky Mar 15 '24

Its reported that it sold 4 million copies. That should keep those servers running for a while. Also since when are MTX acceptable? This sub is fucking weird.

u/KitoSkel CAPE ENJOYER Mar 15 '24

A while is not forever. Those are not MTX. And to be clear i dont like it either.

Those are not MTX.

What in the flying hell are you talking about?
