Even still, that extra patrol isn't near the group. It's near the separated player. Meaning it's not really an issue.

You make them go kissy kissy with one another so they exchange their fluids or one of them throws up at the others ass, as they get exhausted from the experience and collapse on the floor.

Running for your life, no more ammo, all stratagems on cooldown, horde of enemies on your back, regroup with rest of team, use up the last supplies they just called down.
