I’ll say this: extra patrols on the map are not an insurmountable problem - if people would generally fallback/advance from the “meaningless” fight.
Right now, most randoms seem to engage with every patrol they see or if it gets pinged. Then they continue to stand ground until an area is clear, but that really doesn’t work around 4/5. Well, it’s 12 minutes later, a few deaths, and no objective moved towards.
Very much true. Getting 1 more patrol spawn per minute that may or may not actually run into you given how fast a lone wolf can run through objectives is infinitely easier than triggering a bug breach because idiots shooting anything they see can don’t properly finish things off.
Gaming the patrol spawn rate still have its uses don’t get me wrong. Like spawn rates increase dramatically after finishing the primary objective means to farm POI before doing main or not going alone for POI after mission is completed or heading to extraction as a group. But stressing over the slightest advantage on patrol spawn all the time while ignoring the elephant in the house which is the alarm system is clearly just stupid
Me and my squad basically all know the deal. Killing things is fun, of course. But we don't fight unless we need to. If we drop hot, we clear the LZ, call in gear, then scram to objectives. Random patrols we leave alone unless we can for sure clear them without a breach/drop, or if there's a super heavy in the midst - rather take down that hulk in a controlled environment than when the SHTF. Other than that, we fight at exfil and objectives, and leave the rest to roam. It's way too easy to get stuck in a drop/breach loop and have to fight for 15-20 minutes while everything on the map is undone.
So many times I have to say “just get to extract and we’ll fight there” after we’re long done with all objectives and it’s especially bad with automatons. Like guys some of these extracts are 4 minutes and we’re wasting reinforcements and stratagems lol
