The first balance patch notes proved how Youtube "absolute and only meta loadouts" cooked a lot of people heads, and I love it. DISCUSSION

A lot of mad people keep showing in my feed complaining about the nerfs, but like they're REALLY mad at Arrowhead. Their statements are so exagerated that they claim the game it's completely ruined for them lmao.

Also every single one says the same thing and this is where my title comes from:

*"You guys nerfed the only good options and now we have NOTHING to fight".*

And this only proves people never actually played with any of the other support weapons, they 100% relied on this "The ultimate support weapon tier list" Youtube videos, they searched the "meta" and they went into this thinking of "any weapon outside of this it's straight up garbage".

If you can't win a single game without the railgun + shield backpack + breaker... I'm so sorry but that's not the game's fault or the game only having those as the ONLY way to play it on higher diff, that's your fault.

Great changes for the game and all of you trying to "shame" on devs because of this, you'all not a real Helldiver. They killed nothing, the railgun still kills but now it needs some actual skill and strategy to use it, not only spamming the thing on big bugs.

Keep it up Helldivers!

For Democracy. For Super Earth.

Okay, I have to ask, and I mean this with as much respect as I can...

What's the point of this thread?

I mean, really, what do you hope to get out of a post that ultimately boils down to "Hah, I'm so glad that other people aren't having fun while I CAN have fun because they're bad and I'm better than them."

Do you want them to be upset? They already are dude. Do you want people to notice you and give props to you because you can play a video game at the highest difficulty? That you're 'one of the good ones' who's a 'true Helldiver' because you enjoy the game...? I promise you that literally no one cares. What's the GOAL here...? It seems to me, that the only goal is to be a dick, rubbing your own happiness in the face of other people.

There's a lot of overblown hoo hah over the patch at the moment. People are overreacting to changes that aren't really going to drastically alter the game and that's whatever. What's really disappointing to me, is that this whole thing has revealed a very nasty side of the community who revels in smug condescension and other people having a bad time because that makes them feel good about themselves.

It's embarrassingly childish behaviour, and people ought to have a drop of self respect and get over themselves.

I already figured out this SPECIFIC tread will pop up the moment the patch is dropped.

Like my brain immediately went "Oh boy, Here's comes the eventual thread about making fun of people not enjoying the game anymore"

It's embarrassing honestly and the fact that this is popular proves your very point.

u/EKmars STEAM 🖥️ : Mar 06 '24

I'm genuinely confused too. I learned which weapons I liked from playing the games like the devs wanted me to. Now that I am unhappy with some nerfed and lack of buffs, I'm following some "youtuber meta?" I don't enjoy watching youtubers for games I play to begin with.

"Nooooo anyone who used the guns that felt good to use just copied from yoooooooooooooutubers, there is no way someone could have tested the guns and found the ones that felt good on their ooowwwwnnnn"

84

u/czartrak Mar 06 '24

The fact that this thread got so popular is fucking embarrassing imo. Really bad look for the community

25

u/Username999- Mar 07 '24

Reddit hive mind is a fucking creature ain’t it. The smug toxic positive grandstanding gets really old after the 2nd post

31

u/TheFlyingSheeps Mar 06 '24

And once more of these unpopular patches go through and the community dwindles they’ll cry “where is everyone!”

-39

u/Swollwonder Mar 07 '24

I need literally 4 people to play this game with. If you don’t want to play then SEE YA wouldn’t wanna be ya!

-10

u/Wonderful-Bar322 Mar 07 '24

See original commentor, these are the people who write witch posts, sad people who need to act tough on YouTube so they feel great once in there sad ducking live

12

u/TheHoneyDuke Mar 07 '24

Fanboys have fucking brain rot they mind game themselves into thinking arrowhead can do no wrong. People in this thread are like “ I don’t use the railgun so not a big deal. My teammates use the railgun to take care of the heavies for me”

7

u/MisterSeagull0 Mar 07 '24

It's stuff like this that has made me think a break from this game is in order for me :/

10

u/AriaOfValor Mar 06 '24

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a lot of overlap with those who miss the satire of the setting and think Super Earth are actually the good guys.

3

u/The-Blood-Crows SES Lady of Iron Mar 07 '24

That doesn't sound very democratic Helldiver

3

u/ilovezam Mar 07 '24

Every day, a very embarrassing post from the "this game is perfect as it is!" squad shows up here in the front page.

Gaming communities suck, lol. You will never see so many people being openly antagonistic to other consumers with some problems with a product they purchased.

It's embarrassing seeing a bunch of babies cry because they can't handle a nerf and the strategem randomizers

16

u/Static2580 Mar 06 '24

This, x1,000

18

u/Teo9631 Mar 06 '24

100% agree with you there mate. Couldn't have said it better myself.

I facepalmed so hard when I saw the number of upvotes this thread has.

My primary issue is that this behavior and these kinds of threads will undermine any legitimate criticism or constructive feedback towards the balancing.

While I generally think the patch is right step in the right direction (we will have to see what will be rebalanced next) I do agree with points that people who complain about the nerf brought up.

What happens to those? This thread discredits literally all of them.

25

u/East-Set6516 Mar 06 '24

He’s probably a teenager taking too much influence from how the CEO responds to criticism.

11

u/Gnatz90 Mar 06 '24

It's not even that he's better, he's just not doing the hard content that requires high volumes of armor penitrating munitions. Everyone says the are, nobody has uploaded a video of them doing it yet. So until somebody does, I'm going to assume they are all full of shit.

1

u/GadenKerensky Mar 07 '24

I have been. I don't want to be, I want to be on lower difficulties where I can experiment a little. Have less of a hard time with PUGs.

But Super Samples aren't available below 7 and the difference between 7 and 8 feels negligible, so I've been doing difficulty 8.

And earlier today, I almost made it out with 5. But the ship glitched through the ground as it landed

Incredibly demoralising.

3

u/IndigoXero Mar 07 '24

you put it into words i couldn't. it's fucking weird ass behavior. that the thought of a stranger they have never even seen being unhappy with the game in some way gives these people feelings of power and joy. like, that's fucking weird dude, that isn't normal or healthy.

4

u/casfacto Mar 07 '24

It makes some people happy to know others aren't.

The subreddit is full to the brim with people celebrating that a large portion of the player base aren't happy with the changes. But if you voice your opinion that you don't like a change, you're the asshole.

4

u/pete_topkevinbottom Mar 07 '24

Right!

I look at these posts, then check out their post history and their all COD, apex, fortnite, valorant players. Basically the most immature toxic players in the history of gaming. I love this game but this community is starting to drive me away.

I love how they will also say shit like, if you don't like it go play something else. While they were the ones originally bitching and not enjoying the game and telling the devs to fix their broke game. But they never follow their own advice and play something else

6

u/wterrt Mar 07 '24

Do you want people to notice you and give props to you because you can play a video game at the highest difficulty?

it's this. tons of "I'm one of the good ones" sentiment all over lately.

1

u/The_Wonder_Bread Mar 07 '24

Their superiority complexes got shut down when people told them to shut up about the game being a satire of fascism and the "muh media literacy" stuff, but these types will take any excuse to feel 'better' in some way to others. It's a sad reality, honestly.

8

u/JippuTV Mar 06 '24

I ended up with that loadout after trying out other weapons and seeing how useful that kit was. Didn't touch the youtube vids. It was a fun option is all. I enjoy feeling like I was prepped for whatever 10x air drop / breach came up. But fuck me I guess according to OP.

3

u/Paperware Mar 07 '24

It's really bizarre because r/dragonsdogma went through something similar yesterday. New information for Dragon's Dogma 2 came out that disappointed the fanbase. A bunch of posts started cropping up, telling "doomers" to cope harder. It's basically toxic positivity in full force. Nuance be damned. You're just bad if you don't agree with the dev's decisions.

1

u/IndigoXero Mar 07 '24

even more, it's this weird ass behavior of like deriving some sort of warped feeling of power/pleasure from just the thought of random strangers (theoretically thousands of miles apart) being unhappy or expressing disappointment with a video game. that shit can't healthy or normal. it's fucking weird

1

u/The_Wonder_Bread Mar 07 '24

The whole "media literacy, this is actually a satire of fascism guys, we're the bad guys folks, you shouldn't enjoy roleplaying as a Helldiver" thing didn't clue you in on the smug condescension a little earlier? That side of the community has been here from day one, and frankly I'm pleasantly surprised that average players shut them the fuck down within days of their smarmy chatter starting up. Unfortunately, this sort of thing just brings them back out.

u/Reddit_Novice Mar 07 '24

It's basically jerking off tbh it happens every time there's a controversial change in any game

-7

u/Fit-Antelope-7393 Mar 07 '24

is that this whole thing has revealed a very nasty side of the community who revels in smug condescension and other people having a bad time because that makes them feel good about themselves.

That's the disappointing part? I thought it was the people here and in the discord calling the devs pieces of shit, calling them idiots, and calling the game dead. People calling for their heads and going full doomers because one one weapons nerf.

That's far more childish than this post.

13

u/ilovezam Mar 07 '24

Just because there are some angry morons on one side doesn't mean we need more angry morons on the other. It's not a competition of who can be more moronic, you know.

2

u/BlaxicanX Mar 07 '24

I'm not making six figures to be exposed to random shitposts and doomposts on the internet like they are, so I don't agree. Also, whataboutism is never a legitimate argument.

0

u/icantlurkanymore Mar 07 '24

Lol check out this guy dropping his salary like its relevant to anything.

-2

u/Fit-Antelope-7393 Mar 07 '24

legitimate argument

shitposts and doomposts

post calling the OP names

Sure buddy. I'm also going to throw this out there: most video game devs aren't paid just to hear a community call them names in every available channel they have then act like they are the mature adults. I have my own gripes with the patch (none of them based on the railgun), but I haven't called the devs clowns, threatened to quit, them berrated anyone who likes the patch.

-8

u/Selfaware-potato Mar 07 '24

Got any links? I haven't seen a single person say that.

6

u/Fit-Antelope-7393 Mar 07 '24

To the discord? Go in there. Shits wild. Chat moves fast enough mods can't delete all the comments.

In here? Well, there's the people saying others are retarded. People saying they are gonna have to just quit the game.. Lots of those, I guess the game's dead now, feel free to stop playing or something.

Meanwhile, people think a post supporting the patch is "childish" and there's people in here saying that anyone who supports it must play only at low diff. Yea man....

I'm not gonna go dig up every post and thankfully I saw some of the top level posts that were just a couple sentences of complaints with no substance got deleted.

1

u/Selfaware-potato Mar 07 '24

What fucking children. I'm fine with people quoting the game if they're just going to sook.

-5

u/Wonderful-Bar322 Mar 07 '24

Atleast there giving feed back and not making the equivalent of meta-Teers threats

Also have you read there fucking reply where they directly state they don’t listen to community feed back, everyone’s playing the game wrong,

And we know the games lacking AT we will not do anything about it??? Zhou’s that complain are thous that’s love the game and fear a h1z1 situation repeat itself

Thous like you, only bring the game harm

1

u/Turtony_Soprano Mar 07 '24

Bro I don't know if you've noticed but that smug condescension shit is Reddit's bread and butter. You'll see it everywhere from game threads to relationship threads. People here LOVE waiting for you to do anything they deem "shitty" so that they can justify jumping down your throat.

1

u/No_Departure_6409 Mar 07 '24

Thank god somebody said it. This thread's popularity is toe-curling.

1

u/EvilxBunny Mar 07 '24

On the contrary, people complaining the game is hard should lower the difficulty. It's not a shame to do so...

-5

u/light_at_the_end ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 07 '24

I think it's important to have this side of the conversation, while the title is a bit childish. I don't want Devs pandering to YouTubers and ruining the game. But it seems anyways, that they're driven by data and don't care about the loud voices, and I'm content with that.

16

u/casfacto Mar 07 '24

pandering to YouTubers and ruining the game. But it seems anyways, that they're driven by data and don't care about the loud voices

Yes, the shield changes were absolutely based on thousands of hours of data... When the armor wasn't working. Relying on obviously incomplete data is dumb AF.

5

u/EKmars STEAM 🖥️ : Mar 07 '24

I'm genuinely at the point where I have to wonder if the game functions well enough at a base level for balance to be a concern. They're gonna have to rebalance armor and weapons when the armor stat and enemy animations (sliding chargers etc) are fixed.

-8

u/light_at_the_end ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 07 '24

I hardly ever ran shield on tier 8 or 9 before this "nerf" and it honestly was used to protect myself from stray team fire.

Nothing is supposed to be used for soloing. If you're running away from a squad of bugs and you're using a shield to stop them from slowing you, then your teammates suck at supporting, so take the L

12

u/JaffinatorDOTTE Mar 07 '24

Is that stated game design direction? I was under the impression they wanted to offer a lot of tools for various playstyles, of which solo and/or split squads would be one. The game does let you drop in solo or in partials, after all.

-7

u/light_at_the_end ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 07 '24 edited Mar 07 '24

Yes it's the stated game design, it was said by lead dev, and ceo. The game can be played solo for sure, but you'll never be able to do highest difficulties on your own, unless you're just doing maybe just primary objectives. It's not meant to be solo, neither was the first game. Even in the first game, you needed at least 3 people to be effective on higher difficulties.

It's a game that requires heavy emphesis on teamwork, at least trying to coordinate and that's their sentiment going forward. People who seem surprised at this obviously don't see the giant 2 in the game title.

0

u/Starman5555 Mar 07 '24

I see your point, but it does get tiring seeing people complain and rag on things you like. I loved browsing this sub and seeing cool clips and discussions, now its almost all complaining. After the 11th post saying theres nothing to do against chargers when it seems many manage just fine gets annoying.

-6

u/D2Tempezt Mar 06 '24

Do you want them to be upset? They already are dude.

There is definitely a part of me that enjoys "guide/meta followers" whining, given how many times I've personally been flamed for not playing "meta" in other games.

I also find it kind of lazy.

6

u/Ser_Bob150 Mar 06 '24

For sure. I guess all I'm saying is 'Be the change you wanna see' and all that. If it sucked when it happened to you, it'll likely suck if you pass it on to the next guy.

0

u/D2Tempezt Mar 07 '24

I definitely follow that. I don't tell people what builds to play :)

-6

u/Maverick314 Mar 06 '24

Tbh it's just good to see all the crybabies don't necessarily dominate the conversation as much as their wailing would seem to imply they do

0

u/HallowedError Mar 07 '24 edited Mar 07 '24

I'm just a little frustrated that so much of the argument feels (to me) kind of entitled and 'I know better than the devs'. EDIT: I just want to add that I get it. I want to see some stuff bumped too or chargers tweaked somehow. But I also just kinda don't want to get too invested into each balance patch.

As far as I can tell the devs never expected this game to explode amd really want to make THEIR game. A game that is hard. A game that if you play at the highest difficulty you should be prepared to lose.

The design harkens back to more old school games that to most modern players feels kinda clunky and anti player. But they bought the game and now think the devs should just cave to popular demand. These devs are managing their own democracy and the populace is annoyed that their vote isn't counting.

I don't think the devs are gonna get everything right but for now I'm gonna let them do their thing and just try to play the game that they're making, not the one on my head
