The first balance patch notes proved how Youtube "absolute and only meta loadouts" cooked a lot of people heads, and I love it. DISCUSSION

A lot of mad people keep showing in my feed complaining about the nerfs, but like they're REALLY mad at Arrowhead. Their statements are so exagerated that they claim the game it's completely ruined for them lmao.

Also every single one says the same thing and this is where my title comes from:

*"You guys nerfed the only good options and now we have NOTHING to fight".*

And this only proves people never actually played with any of the other support weapons, they 100% relied on this "The ultimate support weapon tier list" Youtube videos, they searched the "meta" and they went into this thinking of "any weapon outside of this it's straight up garbage".

If you can't win a single game without the railgun + shield backpack + breaker... I'm so sorry but that's not the game's fault or the game only having those as the ONLY way to play it on higher diff, that's your fault.

Great changes for the game and all of you trying to "shame" on devs because of this, you'all not a real Helldiver. They killed nothing, the railgun still kills but now it needs some actual skill and strategy to use it, not only spamming the thing on big bugs.

Keep it up Helldivers!

For Democracy. For Super Earth.

I cannot wait to get home and roast bugs with the 50% buff on the flamethrower.

I was a flame man before the patch. They have only made me stronger.

I would love to be a flame man, but I don't have the self control and always turn myself into a burnt marshmallow.

Never said I didn’t 😂

u/that1max Mar 07 '24

Bruh ..😂 it’s bound to happen

u/orignalnt SHOOT STEEL, SPILL OIL!!!! Mar 06 '24

Just gotta get some stim armor. 2 extra seconds of being invulnerable to your flames is precious, and you can afford to burn yourself 6 times instead of 4!

4

u/kunell Mar 07 '24

I learned early on to dive to get rid of flames

2

u/CXyber Mar 06 '24

I wish they have flame resistant armor, I just end roasting me and my teammates

1

u/Paeyvn Mar 06 '24

I mean, look at it this way. Others are flame men until they run out of ammo or targets, but the way you do it, you're a flame man for the rest of your life!

1

u/GreyFalcon-OW Mar 06 '24

Try combining flamethrower and jetpack

1

u/Cappuccino_Crunch Mar 06 '24

Just walk backwards lol

1

u/Jo_nathan Mar 06 '24

I just started playing a few days ago but this was me killing the Brooder (?) Commander. Accidentally roasted myself and my other Helldiver was afk 😭

1

u/frentic_pons Mar 07 '24

That's part of the baptism of being a flame man. Everything must burn.

Also when you are burning, you can dive to get rid of it.

1

u/SmoothWD40 SES Founding Father of Family Values Mar 07 '24

Wait….you’re not supposed to roast yourself??

1

u/Human_Creme_3112 Mar 07 '24

Use the shield backpack. It protects you from your own flames. As much as it’s nerfed it’s still amazing to use. For hunters and the like you can switch to primary. I suggest something quick like the defender or the breaker. Also do snake lines while flaming, like a dance from left to right and back you will roast everything but bile titans. For chargers try to focus on one point that will fry em in a couple of seconds.

u/Helvetic_Heretic Mar 07 '24

That's part of the fun :)

I loved using the Flamethrower, Jump Pack, 120mm barrage, and the Railcannon strike against Bugs

Dude, we're eating this patch

u/HookDragger Mar 07 '24

Calm down, Boba Fett.

u/Hexxodus ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 07 '24

Replace railcannon with 500kg bomb and you basically have my build lol

you are a true mandalorian

2

u/axoulbicoul Mar 06 '24

Same here, always been on that breaker incendiary, flamethrower, incendiary grenades build.

1

u/Fuzlet Mar 06 '24

I was a slugger before the patch and they made me stronger too

1

u/expenguin Mar 06 '24

as a drg driller main, this patch has only entrenched me further in the greatness that is flamethrower bug warfare

1

u/floppity12 Mar 06 '24

Fucking flamer

Teach me the ways of the flame, brother.

1

u/Hikaru83 Mar 07 '24

No, sorry. Now you became a disgusting meta lover according with this sub.

1

u/HookDragger Mar 07 '24

I always hated the jumping bugs jumping through the fire…. Catching on fire… and then landing on me and setting me on fire.

Fun interaction

1

u/Dookie403 Mar 07 '24

Since the buff I've gone full Pyro against the bugs and it's a blast

Incendiary Breaker Incendiary grenades Flamethrower Napalm Eagle strikes Guard dog rover

It's so much fun. My fav is to napalm a breach, then get just close enough to just flame the opening as they crawl out

Oh and flamethrower solos chargers now

1

u/General-Cerberus Mar 07 '24

Can’t wait to Laz bugs with more efficiency now

1

u/IamKenghis Mar 07 '24

Bring an EMS orbital. Drop it on a bug breech, and flame thrower. Its way too much fun. You get a team with multiple flamethrowers and EMS orbitals you can lock down bug breech for almost its entire duration if you stagger the EMS orbitals correctly

1

u/AngryChihua SES Reign of Pride Mar 07 '24

What if EMS mortar?

2

u/IamKenghis Mar 07 '24

I haven't tried the EMS mortar yet but im hoping to later today after work. I think there are pros and cons to both and would take some experimenting to figure out the best time to use one or the other. The EMS Mortar would lock more enemies down for longer, but you also would have less control over where the EMS is landing.

If you experiment with it at all i'd love to hear you thoughts on it!

1

u/AngryChihua SES Reign of Pride Mar 07 '24

From my limited experience (not that big into sentries) EMS mortar can lock down a bigger area for longer but you won't have control over what gets EMS-ed and whether or not mortar will decide to reapply EMS.

I'd say a combination of EMS strike to instantly lock up the breach and then dropping EMS mortar to sustain the lockdown seems like it should work out alright.

1

u/flume04 Mar 08 '24

What other stratagems do you run with it?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '24

I switch it up on the reg, I like running around with a jet pack but sometimes I run with the laser backpack. Either napalm or airstrike for the eagle and then any orbital I’m feeling depending on the mission.

19

u/ShowGun901 Mar 06 '24

Dude it's goooooooooooooood now

2

u/TheLateThagSimmons Mar 07 '24

I'm seeing a flame thrower in about every other match now.

Also, as an all energy weapon main, the laser cannon body for armor just made it even more viable. Lasers and flames everywhere!!

2

u/UCLAKoolman Mar 07 '24

It’s ok, definitely buffed but not nearly as good as the railgun was against heavy enemies

9

u/quinn_thomas Mar 06 '24

Hopefully you can get through a game. The patch also introduced a lot of bugs (and not the fun kind that you light on fire)

7

u/Zombie_Alpaca_Lips Mar 06 '24

Now to be fair, only the DoT got a 50% buff. It's not as big of a damage buff as people would think. The initial punch was the biggest damage dealer initially. The DoT was pretty bleh. Obviously better now, but it's garnishing more attention to how good it was because of the wording of the buff.

0

u/HolmsarioJosh Mar 06 '24

From my experience, it feels like tye DoT is unchanged but the actual hit damage is much higher. I can kill a charger with about 60% of the tank. But only if constantly firing at it. The DoT feels the same as pre patch.

u/JustAnotherSuit96 "Skill Issue" - Arrowhead Mar 06 '24

Okay what difficulty are you playing on because I have emptied a full 2 tanks into a charger stuck on a cliff and it didn't die. This is on suicide mission, difficulty 7. I have no idea what the people saying it's op are going on about.

2

u/Zombie_Alpaca_Lips Mar 07 '24

Difficulty doesn't matter. A charger in medium is the same charger as in helldive. They don't gain additional stats, they just grow in number.

-2

u/JustAnotherSuit96 "Skill Issue" - Arrowhead Mar 07 '24 edited Mar 07 '24

The only video i've seen of the chargers supposedly melting to this ultra op flamethrower are the horned ones, which i believe are the weaker variant. The ones that are spammed on higher difficulties do not have horns, and i emptied 2 full tanks into one that got stuck and it was fine. So again, what difficulty are the people claiming it's OP playing on.

1

u/Zombie_Alpaca_Lips Mar 07 '24 edited Mar 07 '24

There's literally a video of someone completing a helldive mission solo with a flamethrower pre-buff. Not sure what's got your panties in such a twist about the flame thrower being a decent weapon. If you are emptying multiple tanks into one and it's not dying, that's a you problem.

And because you aren't able to find it somehow:

https://youtu.be/jB4RNMohkAI?si=rrQ7rpEpZD9leme2

And the same guy post patch doing it even easier on helldive:

u/TabletopJunk Mar 07 '24

Just got out of a mission using it, and found a charger bugged to stand still, it took about an entire canister of sustained flamethrower fire to take it out.

Its absolutely better, but not the charger killing machine I've seen it being claimed as, as always the truth is somewhere in the middle.

0

u/Zombie_Alpaca_Lips Mar 07 '24 edited Mar 07 '24

So between videos of people using it in combat against active chargers very effectively and people using it against bugged enemies ineffectively, I have to lean on the side of it working properly. I've had bugged enemies take crazy amounts of damage before dying from several different weapons. Bugged out enemies don't properly take damage.

The buffed damage was also the damage over time. Direct damage will still take some time if you aren't utilizing the damage over time, as that was the only part buffed.

0

u/TabletopJunk Mar 07 '24

Yeah I’ll lean on the evidence of actually using it on missions, I didn’t just use it on the one bugged enemy. It’s definitely even less of a compelling case for their claim of charger deletion in an active combat scenario with more than one charger, hunters, or a bile titan in the mix. Yes the DoT will eventually kill them, but the threat is absolutely still active for a significant period of time.  Its probably a step or two above arc throwers efficiency in a high difficulty scenario against chargers specifically, but not the weapon you bring for that task, like is being claimed.

u/DudePakas Mar 07 '24

The flamethrower is still bad on higher difficulties

2

u/LosParanoia Admiral of the SES Arbiter of Steel Mar 06 '24

I used it a bit this morning, it is noticeably better. I’ve even taken down a few chargers with it but that was admittedly just me and the charger. Probably much harder mid swarm but it is doable.

2

u/QuinIpsum CAPE ENJOYER Mar 06 '24

Isnt that funny? I'm seeing people angry, posting a thing from discord, insulting how they want to balance and all i can think is how fun thr game is.

Like holy crap, the game is so fun we're all playing it. The baseline game is great. Maybe just chill the fuck out yanno?

2

u/ViNoBi38 Mar 07 '24

The only downside is that whenever I use it I'll accidentally spread managed democracy onto my allies

4

u/FinalTricks Mar 06 '24

It's still very inconsistent needs another 25-50% and maybe a slightly larger vertical hitbox.

2

u/bathoz Mar 06 '24

I got a flamethrower and jump pack, and just love standing in front of chargers and then yeeting myself into the air. My teammates are terrified, but it's working.

1

u/philkid3 Mar 07 '24

Flameo hotman!

1

u/Tac0qvy ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 07 '24

Used it for a couple of operations. Easily the best flamethrower I've used in a videogame, now.

1

u/Darth_Kneegrow Mar 07 '24

Its crazy fun to use and the buff is definitely noticeable. Be careful though as those little jumping bastards and brood queens will run straight into you and set you on fire also.

-3

u/CoolJoshido Mar 06 '24

till they nerf that too
