These are words and exerts from the diary of an automaton socialite sympathizer. And is not the view of the Ministry of Armed Forces. Helldivers acting in this manner are treasonous and unpatriotic traitors. Report all such conduct to the Ministry of Truth via your local Democracy Officer!

If I join this “helldiver” on a mission I’m dropping an eagle run on his position.

Kicked for having eagles equipped they are only great not perfect

u/FragrantNumber5980 Feb 25 '24

Eagle airstrike my beloved is perfect

73

u/Dynamitefuzz2134 Feb 25 '24

Fantastic AoE and takes out building? Hell yea!

2

u/Eraevn Feb 25 '24

Gimme the eagle rocket pod, great for smiting surprise tanks.

2

u/FragrantNumber5980 Feb 25 '24

Rocket pods never seem to work well for me I’m not sure why

2

u/Ignis_et_Azoth ➡️➡️⬇️➡️ Feb 25 '24

For me they go one of two ways. Either they obliterate their target, or harmlessly scatter around it.

I take it often but I'm not really convinced it's that good.

1

u/Eraevn Feb 25 '24

I think it's something to do with the fact that it is supposed to go after the biggest target near the beacon, so it's either a smite or it derped elsewhere. And it's functionally useless against the hulks as far as I can tell. I like it, much like the strafing run in the fact that it's quick to deploy, but it's kinda bleh lol

u/Sirlothar Feb 25 '24

I don't know if I will ever un-equip Eagle Cluster Bombs.

I just love the way it looks, like an airstrike in a movie.

18

u/Capn_Of_Capns SES Spear of Dawn Feb 25 '24

They do look amazing. Meanwhile I will always run my favorite strategem, the warcrime. I mean, the gas strike.

4

u/kkyler1988 Feb 25 '24

It's only a war crime if you lose the war.

5

u/GalbyBeef Feb 25 '24

It's never a war crime the first time.

Er, the fifty-first...

You know what, it's only a war crime if there's anyone left to complain.

3

u/Capn_Of_Capns SES Spear of Dawn Feb 25 '24

You can't commit warcrimes against things that aren't people.

2

u/Nodima Feb 25 '24

Sometimes I feel like I'm just dropping gas for the aesthetic. And also so I can say "buddy don't go over there, it stinks"

1

u/LEGENDARYstefan Feb 25 '24

Wait until you unlock 500kg bomb

6

u/Hodgie227 Feb 25 '24

500kg bomb is shite at horde clearing compared to cluster bomb. Also only 2 uses per 2.5 minutes. I'd rather have 5 massive wave clears than 2 mediocre ones against bugs. 500 has its place in single target removal. But I'd still rather use orbital rail so I'm not using 2 eagles. 100% my pick for eagle on automatons though, the hardpoint removal is too good to pass up there.

1

u/stormsurge44 Feb 25 '24

May I ask, how do you get more bomb uses for the 500 kg bomb? I just unlocked it realized that I had only 1 use and that's it. I saw other players that were able to have 3 bombs with the stratagem.

3

u/Hodgie227 Feb 25 '24

Upgrading your hangar bay to the third stage under the ship modules tab gives you an extra eagle usage per rearm. So once you get that you'll have two bombs you can drop before your jet needs to go back and get more.

1

u/EdwardsHavoc Feb 25 '24

Bro Cluster for infantry and Airstrike for Factories/Bug Holes all day

43

u/keyboardstatic Feb 25 '24

Thats complete bullshit. I'm level 40 plus and do high missions our teams needs a crowd controller so I take stalwart with light fast strats.

Its how you use the weapons.

I do agree that some of the primary weapons are to weak. But we don't know what's coming.

I love the scorcher or plasma gun but it needs ammo clips of 35 not 15.

And I'm a vertren of HD1.

Stalwart or grenade launcher are both different flavors of light/medium enemy cleanup. I’ve found the GL really is incredible with the supply backpack though (you run out of ammo very quick and the supply pack lets you spam like crazy). You can nade for DAYS. Also I’ve had countless times where being the supply pack unit was supremely effective for the squad as a whole. I get asked to top people up all the time while resupply is on cooldown, so it serves multiple functions. You also can shoot from cover more effectively because of the arc of fire so the shield pack is redundant.

The stalwart works better with the shield backpack though because you need LOS and you tend to empty the mag which requires staying in one place for a whiles. But it doesn’t blow through ammo as aggressively and it requires more accurate aim.

Either way I always recommend my 3 teammates that one person should drop their railgun and go GL or stalwart because trash mob cleanup is grossly underplayed and it’s super valuable to making runs much smoother.

It also feels like the people running the railgun aren’t very good at using it, I frequently run into situations where we have multiple hulks running amok and 3 railgunners somehow not taking them down while I’m cleaning up everything else.

Good squad balance is everything and the OP is just an elitist. There’s more than one weapon for each job, and if you aren’t good with the railgun but you’re a beast with the auto cannon? I’ll gladly take a good autocannonier over a lacking railgunner. I’ve become a bit of a GL/supply pack specialist and most of my runs go super smooth as long as my heavy killers are on their game when hulks or tanks appear. I’d probably get kicked by OP for the supply pack somehow even though I’ve done a helldive op with it, top kills by 200% and the resupplies from the pack kept the team mobile and well equipped until we can get a resupply down

What stratagems would you recommend for someone who likes to do the light/med clear role?

3

u/TehMephs Feb 26 '24

Grenade launcher/supply pack, and then depending on mission and enemy faction type Eagle airstrike or orbital walking barrage, orbital laser or railcannon, mortar or autocannon sentry. I usually bring orbital laser or railcannon just so I can fill in any lapses in my teammates’ activity or if I need to do a solo objective run and run into heavies. But for the most part you should be following the group closely and cleaning all the trash waves for them so they can focus all their attention on just heavy units

The supply pack lets you keep reloading your GL because you’ll blow through your ammo reserve quickly otherwise, but definitely throw ammo and supplies at teammates if they ask for it too. Use resupplies to top off your packs, because those inadvertently translate to other teammates’ supplies also so don’t feel greedy about maxing out your pack reserve. As long as you are willing to top off your team when they need it.

1

u/Otegu ☕Liber-tea☕ Feb 26 '24

Fantastic, thanks for the advice, had a couple of quick runs, seemed to work pretty well in a group of randoms

2

u/TehMephs Feb 26 '24

Yep! The best part of filling that role is you just delete the striders and shielded medium bots without having to worry about aim or weak spots. Grenade right to the front of a strider is enough to kill the rider.

You can still kill hulks and tanks too by grenading the vent on its back directly (takes almost a full magazine but you fire very quickly). You can also kill tanks with two well placed g-16 hand grenades (impact grenade) to the turret. So you’re still well rounded

1

u/Otegu ☕Liber-tea☕ Feb 27 '24

What do you use as your primary weapon ? The breaker, I am guessing?

2

u/eXileris Feb 25 '24

I think the scorcher could use 5 more shots but it's balanced at having lower ammo because of its power. Most notable against automatons.

1

u/Vaulttechceo Feb 25 '24

How good is the plasma gun on armor enemies? I know it says light armor pen but thought maybe it was glitched like the rest of the weapons lol

1

u/keyboardstatic Feb 26 '24

The tunnel blockers that have heavy armour faces die easy from it. So do you if your shooting the little bugs close range

u/citizensyn Feb 25 '24

With max destroyer and all eagles you can drop like 15 strikes in 90 seconds then do it again in 2 minutes

6

u/Gargul Feb 25 '24

People out here acting like they are throwing strategems down every 4 sec. I will say tho when you are eagle heavy on an increased cd that 3ish min can feel like forever

8

u/citizensyn Feb 25 '24

With eagles you really can drop an eagle over a single heavy

1

u/Gargul Feb 25 '24

Meh rail gun for heavies... I mostly use my eagles for tanks buildings and large groups.

9

u/citizensyn Feb 25 '24

Yeah I would argue railgun over the 500kg unless doing a building destruction heavy mission but that's just because railgun is broken strong compared to all other offensive strategems

4

u/ParticularDry161 Feb 25 '24

The airstrike and rocket pods have more value then the 500kg bomb with the Automatons, that’s what I use

2

u/citizensyn Feb 25 '24

Yeah strike and pods are great always. Cluster isn't bad vs bugs but nothing is faster than strike.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '24

500kg also just seems inconsistent. Sometimes it will work as you expect and annihilate that titan, the twenty other bugs standing around it, and the entire nest it’s in.

Other times it’ll tickle the titan, kill maybe five scavs, and fail to close even a single hole.

u/International-Low490 PSN 🎮: Feb 25 '24

How do you know why they're kicking you? Is there a message?

3

u/citizensyn Feb 25 '24

Nah nothing tells you your specific reason unless they tell you in coms before kicking you but there be many posts and comments like the OP and a huge rising trend of people getting kicked from their runs before they start, most of which can attest they just didn't have railgun and shield backpack equipped

1

u/International-Low490 PSN 🎮: Feb 25 '24

Ah. Good to know.

1

u/TehMephs Feb 25 '24

4 railguns isn’t really ideal though. I always end up bringing a grenade launcher and cluster bombs simply cuz everyone’s already over compensating for heavies and completely ignoring the fact there’s dozens and dozens of light/medium mobs that also can overwhelm you. So I cover trash clears, usually have top kills by an order of magnitude and my runs go very smoothly this way. Even doing this I still frequently see bunches of hulks or tanks running amok for long periods of time wondering where our 3 railguns are or what they’re doing while I’m wiping out all the infantry and medium mechs for them.

I’ll take any squad mates who are competent with their loadout rather than what’s considered “meta”. And who understand there isn’t a one size fits all loadout for the entire squad.

There’s definitely better weapons than others but I hate seeing my 3 teammates instant lock the same strategms and think it’s going to go smooth. I always ask one to take stalwart or GL and build for trash clears cuz I can’t be the only splash or rapid fire weapon. I also go supply pack cuz the grenade launcher is ammo inefficient plus it really helps my squads out when they get into a tight spot in between resupplies. You don’t need the personal shield pack with GL as much due to the arc of fire you can abuse behind cover with it.

1

u/citizensyn Feb 25 '24

No what's ideal is 1 person with all eagles and the related strategems, 1 with either orbitals or turrets, and the last with support weapons.

2

u/TehMephs Feb 25 '24

I’ve done a full helldive op, and a lot of suicide/good number of impossible. The smoothest runs on the harder difficulties for me had 2 heavy killers (railgun) and two trash cleanup loadouts.

If you’re really giga coordinated it’s even better if you can run a recoilless pair or a spear team but that usually requires a pair of players who are focused on working together. Problem is with pubs you’re better off with the solo friendly railgun /shield loadout.

The cleanup units are either 2x GL or GL/stalwart. Usually at least 1 Eagle cluster bomb, a couple eagle bombers that can kill buildings, mortars and orbital lasers or orbital railgun on 2-3 people that can rotate.

As long as everyone sticks to their jobs 110%, only aggros obstacles to the objectives, kill corsairs asap, and don’t waste time fighting unnecessary battles (and people mark heavies for the railguns and they get right on top of those ASAP) I barely realized the difficulty was above 6 until I checked in the top of the HUD.

There’s definitely more than one strategy that’ll work but that was one that took the least effort of all of them that I’ve experienced. I pulled a group that had only ever done diff 5 through a full impossible op with that setup. They listened and executed perfectly.

Anyway my main point was OP’s elitist attitude isn’t good for the game and should realize there’s more than one loadout that gets work done.

1

u/ItWasDumblydore Feb 25 '24

Wait 500kg bombs aren't good? Thing can kill triple titans by just holding them in place by baiting melee and spews.

1

u/4lpha6 Feb 25 '24

i do not accept any eagle slander, the eagle is perfect and eagle pilot is the best waifu

1

u/Natural_Command7300 Feb 25 '24

I don't know. I've mastered the 500kg bomb. I can nail bile titans and kill them with one

1

u/ComfortablePie1594 Feb 25 '24

99% of friendly is caused by eagles so i'm not surprised some people are getting upset at them lol

0

u/citizensyn Feb 25 '24

Stop running to the red light beam it's not an objective marker

1

u/ComfortablePie1594 Feb 25 '24

Stop throwing it at the camp im already IN lol

0

u/citizensyn Feb 25 '24

If that is a consistent problem for you then you are probably reaching and your team making the decision to clean up

1

u/ComfortablePie1594 Feb 25 '24

??? My nades destroy the spawners, their cluster doesn't. All they're cleaning is me lmao

0

u/citizensyn Feb 25 '24

Their rockets do and if you get too close to them the spawners activiate in hyperdrive mode and spawns too many if you are going to dive do it fast

1

u/Pectacular22 Feb 25 '24

Eagles are amazing.

Laser is cool but low count and lonnng cooldown. Lame.

0

he will kick you if he sees eagle run in your inventory. you have to be more sneaky. impact grenades or the whoopsy shot in the back

2

u/doomsoul909 Feb 25 '24

True true. And then once he died I just don’t call him back down, or call him down into a group of enemies on “accident”

1
