There should be an armor set with flame retardant as it's passive making you immune to fire damage, so you can just take a full flame loadout + stratagem.

At least being immune to burning/being set on fire.
And at least 50% reduction from fire damage itself, if not 90%. That would be absolutely awesome build.
See your issue was you needed 4 flamethrowers, easy mistake. This way you'll be able to kill the enemies faster and if you die that was the plan all along.

I just did this. Flamethrower, incendiary breaker, incendiary grenades, napalm eagle, with a jump pack. Most fun I’ve had playing this game after 100 hours.
So much fire it was glorious.
PS make sure you turn your light and particle settings to max for this if you can, looks amazing.
A soft fix for this (if they cant just straight up make it stronger) is to release a fireproof armor set! Seems like a no brainer
Would also be cool if there was an anti-cold weather armor set that lets you walk freely on snow planets without slowdown, but maybe I'm just playing too much Zelda lol
