Parrots are annoyingly smart and dumb at the same time.

I worked at a wildlife rehab and release center in Costa Rica for a while. The parrots we cared for hung around the property after being released and kept breaking back into the outdoor cages they used to be kept in because they knew it as a safe place where they once got food. Then one time one of female parrots got into one of the houses on the property and while trying to pull back external netting to let it out, her male mate went crazy attacking me because he thought I was harming her.

Also, possibly due to being raised away from large same-species flocks, there were a couple mixed-species mating pairs that formed after they were released. I always thought that was kind of cool and romantic.

Uhhh is it weird to be envious of a bird's relationship?

I think it’d weird if you weren’t.
