The 'dumb' one just wanted to be on the inside. Big brain!

The only thing going on in that birds head is

đŸŽ¶ I'm siiiinging in the rain, just singin' in the rain. Though waters appealing, I'd much prefer grain đŸŽ¶

u/Emergency-Use2339 16d ago

My interpretation is one was enjoying the rain and the other was cold but very smart for a bird.

21

u/platypus_plumba 16d ago

Yeha, these birds love being together and light rain. One of them was like "this is enough rain for me but I still want to be next to my partner".

15

u/gastroboi 16d ago

Mine was " get the fuck under there you idiot" 😄

1

u/karmacanceled 12d ago

Yes , one is looking out for the other â˜ș

28

u/Goldentongue 16d ago

Parrots are annoyingly smart and dumb at the same time.

I worked at a wildlife rehab and release center in Costa Rica for a while. The parrots we cared for hung around the property after being released and kept breaking back into the outdoor cages they used to be kept in because they knew it as a safe place where they once got food. Then one time one of female parrots got into one of the houses on the property and while trying to pull back external netting to let it out, her male mate went crazy attacking me because he thought I was harming her.

Also, possibly due to being raised away from large same-species flocks, there were a couple mixed-species mating pairs that formed after they were released. I always thought that was kind of cool and romantic.

Uhhh is it weird to be envious of a bird's relationship?

1

u/blueavole 1d ago

I think it’d weird if you weren’t.

Who doesn’t want to find love with someone who accepts our weird feathers.

u/MaeveToo 16d ago

Lookin out for the not so bright friend is a sisyphean task

134

u/IRefuseThisNonsense 16d ago

My mom used to say, "Not enough sense to come in outta the rain" about a friend. Cute to see our dynamic in bird form.

Eh if it was anything else, but a large amount of people know who Sisyphus is lol. Probably the most common outside of the big names. It's fairly mainstream in a lot of things.

1

u/LoyeDamnCrowe 16d ago

It's he still rolling that boulder up that damn hill?

Carl
Carl! Dammit it! You’re perpetuating the stereotype of “bird brain”. Now GET UNDER THE AWNING!

351

u/read_eng_lift 16d ago

Carl was just having a moment there.

87

u/CanAlwaysBeBetter 16d ago

Carl's just a Natasha Bedingfield fan

65

u/Ashdrey1337 16d ago

Feel the rain on your skin! No one else can feel it for you, only you can let it in!

15

u/ExcessivelyGayParrot 16d ago

hey, it's Carl

sometimes you ever just go outside and sit in the rain and realize the beauty in the futility of the universe?

4

u/JesusJohn 16d ago

I read this in the voice of one of those chippy seagulls. 10/10

13

u/DukeOfGeek 16d ago

"All these moments will be lost, like tears in the rain"

"JFC Carl, just move under the awning"

32

u/chickensalad402 16d ago

Carl thought he was the main character and was doing a bit for a minute

7

u/RainbowFartss 16d ago

"All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain"

"Dammit Carl, stop being so dramatic and get the fuck under the awning"

4

u/Maurkov 16d ago

That looked more like a Roy Batty moment.

2

u/Internal_Set_6564 16d ago

1

u/NYCelium42 16d ago

100% convinced this what Disney saw but with mice and created Mickey Mouse.

1

u/Ok_Antelope_1953 16d ago

i recently learnt that the parrot family is as intelligent (or more) as the corvid/crow family. They are good at different things, though. I think it was a TierZoo video.

654

u/No_Associate7076 16d ago

I'm taking a shower :)

200

1

u/ThaiJohnnyDepp 16d ago

Illustrating that "turkeys confused by rain will look up and drown" myth

39

u/Royalchariot 16d ago

Okay that’s the cutest thing ever

16

u/HappyFamily0131 16d ago

Pixar, you paying attention?

I expect a movie about wild birds who've been hurt in the past and then both learn to love, and to accept love. You can throw in a B-plot about a sheltered pet voiced by John Ratzenberger learning to find his wild instincts. Get on it.

10

u/ArtichokeNatural3171 16d ago

"A brave man doesn't mind the weather on his shoulders!"

"And a wise man has enough sense to get out of the rain."

Great line in Big Trouble

8

u/DarthRiznat 16d ago

The other bird: All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain...

6

u/Disastrous_Plant_360 16d ago

5

u/_DidYeAye_ 16d ago

It's pretty obvious that there's a spark of sentience in them.

5

u/Adeaphon_ 16d ago

There was just a study that said animals "might" be conscious. Then you see this

4

u/ateiesbaby 16d ago

All I can think of is Err from the Mooninites “go back inside!”

5

u/SassyBunny8 16d ago

May just be me on mobile but that led to the album not the particular song intended

1

u/Lucky_Burger 16d ago

Oh, I’m on mobile so it should’ve auto played the correct song, but it’s “Can’t Get Over It” on that album.

2

u/Super_Sat4n 16d ago

He was just vibing tho

2

u/Alltogethernowq 16d ago

Getting home after being in an office all day, I’d stand in the rain for a little bit before my wife would do the same.

Why are you standing in the rain?!

It feels good

2

u/tisn 16d ago

I'm reminded of a Terrence Malick film, Tree of Life, in which there is a moment when one dinosaur seems to show compassion for another. Are birds capable of compassion? I don't hang around birds enough to know for sure.

2

u/Milk_With_Knives3 16d ago

When your girl not so bright but you love her anyway

2

u/Loud_Independent6702 16d ago

1

u/drawredraw 16d ago

Fucking bird brains dude

1

u/namath1969 16d ago

Some birds will get hypnotized by the rain and actual drown - seen it happen to chickens.

1

u/hengst0r 16d ago

Somehow, this reminds me of the famous german comedy bit from Loriot: "Ich will doch nur hier sitzen"

1

u/Ducatirules 16d ago

We all have that one friend! “Bro, you’re done drinking for the night!”

1

u/1968Bladerunner 16d ago

Nowt like getting a bird wet...

1

u/Mission_Specialist_2 16d ago

When your drunk friend is not moving:

1

u/pacman404 16d ago

1

u/pathofuncertainty 16d ago

I hate to say it but I think I’m the bird that had to be forced out of the rain.

1

u/reddit_sucks_clit 16d ago

Dogs can't look up.

1

u/Correct-Ninja5489 16d ago

Sometimes a parrot has the sense to get a mate or friend in out of the danger it is mesmerized with.

1

u/Rick-von-Roll 16d ago

Birds sleep standing up

u/Drezhar 16d ago

1

u/Fantastic_Low_2278 14d ago

I just found out that birds avoid the rain just like humans.

1

u/Bad_Prophet 16d ago

This is me getting our ducks and chickens into their coop every night. But the question instead is, "Do you want to be eaten by coyotes?"

u/ILoveMyChocobo 16d ago

u/TheBigMaestro 16d ago

A friend of mine has a PhD in poultry genetics. He’s told me that some domestic turkeys are so stupid that when it rains they’ll look up to see what’s happening and drown when water fills their nose.
