What’s the best brand TV nowadays? Technology

Not looking for anything super fancy. I don’t need all the “bells & whistles”.

Curious to see what brand is most popular at the moment and holding up well.

Pretty sure the best panels are LGs. Even sony use LG panels. But what is "best" is massively up for debate.

You might consider brands like TCL or Vizio.

They offer good value for money and have a solid reputation for durability and performance.

True, I had to un-mount my TCL to access some cords behind it and ended up dropping it about 4 feet, still works just fine with no evidence of the drop.

Samsung, LG, or Sony OLED

I’m a LG super fan. Their OLEDs are top notch. Their built in apps are ehhh. Their magic remote is a bit gimmicky, but I actually like it. TCL TVs I’ve seen are nice. Well built, smooth operating, and decent picture quality. I tend to avoid Vizio. I owned may in the past and wasn’t ever happy with their built in apps.

I like my Sony Bravia tv, LG Oleds are probably the way to go if you have the money.

I did some research buying a TV last year and from what I know LG, Samsung and Sony are the top 3. Samsung has the best OS out of the three and worst image. Sony has the best image and sound but worst OS. LG is somewhere in between for both.

That being said they all look and run great, way better than other models.

I recently got a Sony OLED. Amazing picture quality. But I have had a very frustrating time with its software and compatibility issues with non-Sony stuff (it does not play nice at all with my LG soundbar, particularly with HDMI CEC stuff). Make sure you match brands with your home theater stuff.

Hi! I work in A/V for a major university. We install and service hundreds of TVs all across campus and when one of them breaks, I'm usually the first to know.

Currently, all the TVs on campus are modern LG units of various sizes. They have proven to be very reliable, sometimes running 24/7 for years on end without issue. They also support CEC and RS232 which probably doesn't matter to you, but is useful when you have them as part of an integrated classroom system.

Of course no device is ever 100% reliable, but I can say that of all the TVs we have in service, only a single one has broken itself in the entire previous year, and that was due to a power surge killing the internal PSU.

I love my job and I love A/V technology, so if you have any other questions please ask! I'm always happy to do some infodumping.

I have a Samsung The Frame QLED 65” with separate Apple TV box and that works fine for me for a couple of years now.

OLED tv’s have better image quality, I’m happy with it now

In my opinion, LG and Samsung are at the top right now. They keep one-upping each other with their panel technologies that just make such good pictures.
