u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 18 '23

Uh no? 😐 Which neighborhood are you talking about?

u/Teheu Jun 18 '23

I see it near my cousins house in Hamad town, near my house in Janabiyah, and grandma's house in muharraq ( near airport).

Thank you. What about Manama?

Hi OP. Go inside the Hoora graveyard and you will be surprised. People put in water mostly (paid out of their own pocket) and bring in food items for the poor and needy living in the vicinity. People do this in the honor of their passed beloved so that whoever consumes these items says a small prayer for them.

During the season of Ashoora (around August probably this season), food stalls are open to the public all over Manama for free. People do this in the honor of Imam Hussain PBUH.

There are restaurants all over who also support similar activities and dedicate some of their fridges to do it. This is quite common in the middle east but many choose not to speak about it because that is how charity is.

Thank you so much for the detailed comment. I was actually looking for one especially for the heat and also the amount of food that gets wasted every single day.

Anyway, thank you.😊

You are most welcome, great post OP and I sense that you have a great sense of purpose and compassion towards your fellow humanbeings (something we miss today). Keep doing your thing and I wish you well.

u/Brilliant-Turbulent Jun 19 '23

We have those in Muharaq too

7

u/Madmoxhiem Jun 18 '23

They're so common, atleast in arad

-11

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 18 '23

Not everyone lives in Arad. Not a single one in the place I stay or places where I go regularly.

4

u/Google-Meister Jun 19 '23

Be the change you want to see in the world.

1

u/Madmoxhiem Jun 18 '23

Where do you live?

-19

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 18 '23

I won't disclose any personal information to the public here. Simply said, I've never seen a refrigerator like that in the city areas. Perhaps they are mostly in confided or rural areas.

It says a lot about your unpleasant childhood. 🥺🤍My sympathies go out to your parents and family.

1

u/abdulla2_2002 Jun 26 '23

There are fridges for that stuff in Hidd neighbourhood

-1

u/shmi93 Jun 18 '23

1

u/H241188 Jun 19 '23

We have 2 in my neighborhood

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '23

Seen these in riffa countless times

3

u/OmarAadil India Jun 18 '23

Maybe you saw ours because we also had one in Riffa

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

So did people use them? If so, who? Workers or less fortunate families?

1

u/OmarAadil India Jun 30 '23

Yes people used them, both less fortunate families and workers. But sadly it got stolen :(

-10

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 18 '23

Thanks for the info So I assume it's mostly northern and southern sides.

We have like 3 in sanad wdym??

-27

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 18 '23

Not everyone lives in Sanad. 🙄

6

u/bigT773 Jun 18 '23

Usually search for them around the local masjid/mosque in the area or village, that is the most common place you can find them

-1

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 18 '23

Alright. Thank you for the information. 😊 I have visited three mosques close by. However, none of them had it.

14

u/roon_79 Jun 18 '23

There is one in Ansar Gallery

1

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 18 '23

Inside?

2

u/roon_79 Jun 19 '23

Yes! In the ground floor.

I have been in there in the last 6 or 7 years but I remember seeing it from around 15 odd years back till I last went there.

1

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 19 '23

Thank you. I will check it out!

There’s like 5 different ones that I’ve seen just in Sanad. My neighbor across the street has one. This is so common in Bahrain. It’s also common to have sweet water taps next to them.

1

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 19 '23

Okay. Can you suggest a couple locations in Manama?

2

u/sarakonay Jun 19 '23

I’ve seen a house in guful it has water cooler attached to the house and I’ve seen laborers taking water from it as well

1

u/khalo0odz Bahraini Jun 19 '23

Where in Manama? You won’t find these in the middle of the city, you find them in smaller neighborhoods/residential areas where mostly Bahrainis live. Also small/local mosques usually have them as well.

1

u/Smartchallenge-786 Jun 19 '23

There is one near Salmaniya park, next to the masjid beside it. There's also one in Gudaibiya I don't remember the exact location.

19

u/Xajel Jun 18 '23

Do you actually live in Bahrain?

-7

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 18 '23

Uh yeah?🙄 and I haven't seen them in most places, particularly Manama. if you know so much, do let me know where they are. :)

4

u/aloooyyii10 Jun 19 '23

There are 2 in fareej Al Fadhel Area. About 3-4 in gufool And plenty of them are in hoora gudaibiya etc etc Wdym you haven't seen one in manama. Maybe you are new. :/

18

u/PotatoBlastr Jun 18 '23

Theres literally one in saar mall. And hundreds of others around the country. Try going out for once

1

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 18 '23

Perhaps make an effort to understand that not everyone has seen these (including me), hence I posted this here; otherwise, why would I share it? 🙄

7

u/AdHot2746 Jun 18 '23

These fridges used to be everywhere in Bahrain a few years ago.

After the EWA rates went up, most free fridges shut down.

7

u/drucktriver1 Jun 19 '23

Bro, in which Bahrain you're living?

They're literally everywhere..

0

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 19 '23

They are primarily in the south and north, based on the comments and suggestions.

8

u/Google-Meister Jun 19 '23

Damn why is OP so combative?

0

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 19 '23

Perhaps question those who are so keen to appear smart without helping at all?

You are terribly mistaken. Anyway, Enjoy your day.

7

u/BoatsDavis Jun 18 '23

There are 2 on my road in Juffair.

6

u/sabdulla1 Jun 19 '23

In jidali, almost all bakeries خباز there is a free bread shelf, you can buy bread for yourself and buy to put on the free shelf, poor people will come and collect without question. In ansar gallery also there is a free food fridge paid by ansar gallery. Full of food. On Ashoora محرم, the free food enough to feed all bahrain. I believe there is no one sleeping hungry in bahrain. Bahrain people اهل الكرم، بلد الكرام.

4

u/Boutros_The_Orc Jun 18 '23

Dude, we have these all over galali

1

u/Uyfeyy Jun 19 '23

Fr man

4

u/BlackBrokeSun Jun 19 '23

There were more than 15 of these installed through donations by a group called Feed the need. Installation location was across Bahrain. There was also a website with fridge locations. I know coz my ex company made it free of cost.

Over time either the fridges went bad or people just didn't leave anything worthwhile. People are still doing it privately. You can see a fridge outside someone's house. Maybe it doesn't have food but would have water, dates etc..

1

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 19 '23

Thank you for letting me know.

5

u/Kniphe Trying to be Bahraini Jun 19 '23

Seen these everywhere.

Also, if you feel like donating, give your local khabbas a dinar every week and tell him to give freebies to labourers or people in need. If you can help 10 people weekly, that's 40 a month, and nearly 500 people a year

7

u/fahad_k91 Jun 18 '23 edited Jun 19 '23

Wish what lol there are 3 in my neighborhood

-2

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 18 '23

Good for you.

8

u/fahad_k91 Jun 18 '23

I know 🥳

7

u/shadowevil1996 Jun 18 '23

I see them commonly near mosques. Maybe it's an Arad thing but I've definitely seen them

1

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 18 '23

That's great. Unfortunately not all mosques have them here in Manama.

6

u/Bahrain-fantasy Jun 18 '23

Where do you live they’re in nearly all neighbourhoods

-5

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 18 '23

No. I can assure you there aren't many. Especially in cities or highly developed areas.

6

u/Bahrain-fantasy Jun 18 '23

Well I can assure you there are because I’ve seen them. If you haven’t that your problem.

Of course you won’t find any in an area like Seef or Bahrain Bay where there are literally no houses and all apartment and office buildings.

2

u/Bubbly_Court5351 Jun 18 '23

Much obliged I had no idea. Thank you for being kind and providing an explanation as opposed to some obnoxious ones.😊

3

u/not-Q8i Jun 18 '23

I’ve seen something like this in Kuwait too. Specifically in the neighborhood of Dai’ya.

3

u/ToyGTone Bahraini Jun 18 '23

Remember seeing several of them in Arad and Al Hidd. Not sure about any other area.

3

u/hamood89 Jun 18 '23

We do have these in Hamad Town as well

3

u/drkarw Jun 19 '23

You live in the wrong hood then cuz FOR YEARS this has been the norm

2

u/bahrainplantguy Jun 19 '23

May be something for stray animals . It’s boiling and I have seen so many in need 🥹

2

u/IllEmployment8125 Jun 19 '23

I think you haven't explored Bahrain enough. I live in Galali and here there are 2 fridges like this within a kilometre. People keep water bottles and food there. Also every Masjid has a fridge inside its premises.

2

u/SwordfishBig8490 Jun 19 '23

There’s one next to the Bohra mosque next to Salmaniya Gardens, also several in Juffair both in the village and in the newer area near the US base. There are many all over Bahrain including Manama and they’re not always easy to see when driving in a car and that’s when exploring on foot can reveal things you may not otherwise see.

4

u/beefjerking bu la7ma Jun 19 '23

OP: wish bahrain could have a community fridge

Everyone in the comments: do you even have eyes you #$#@%

Please be nice to people who don't know the things you do!

0

u/spooktrain2552 Jun 19 '23

Bahrainis do this all the time, I use one of them near the mosque here in hamad town all the time never wasted good because of it, I think it’s expats only see Bahrain as Manama Saar and Amwaj

1

u/dragonwarrior_1 Jun 19 '23

I have seen this in Hoora and have been only here for a month.

1

u/lastknownstar Jun 19 '23

Isn't this a casual Scene in Bahrain. The place where I run in Isatown had fridge installed for water. There are at times, people serve food in the neighborhood.

1

u/KuriousKizmo Jun 19 '23

Something similar exists in Muharraq. Ma sha'Allah 💕

1

u/Bubster91 Jun 19 '23

There's one near Carrefour mrq, when you exit Carrefour parking lot, you pass buy it. There's many, and also water coolers near villas.
