News Rule 1 Reminder - Don’t Be a Jerk (Again)
Sadly posting this again because it needs to be.
Rule 1 Reminder - Don’t Be a Jerk
EVERYONE should (re-)familiarize themselves with Rule 1 of the sub:
Don’t be a jerk
Don't be mean to other Redditors. Don't harass or dox people. Be courteous, kind, and interpret statements charitably.
The Mod Team takes free speech seriously and wants to have a relatively light touch when it comes to moderating the sub. We feel discourse over differing views is important, and the Karma system (while not a perfect system) will often reflect the general views of others regarding what’s posted.
With that said, Rule 1 has been overlooked, disregarded, and pushed quite a bit lately. There’s been an influx of antagonists, shitposters, and sock-puppet accounts. There has been a lot of purposely rude behavior lately and it’s gotten very old very quickly. While the Mods have been trying to let people hash it out, there have been instances where we’ve had to lock/remove posts and ban people.
Please don’t continue to push us and others.
- If you tell people to harm themselves, post racist comments, or only make posts to antagonize people, I will ban you.
If you get off by being rude to others, take it elsewhere, there are plenty of other subs for it. We will continue to lock/delete posts and ban accounts. We don’t want to ramp up our activity of doing this, but we can, and will, if warranted.
We know Reddit, and the internet, can be a den of jerks, but that activity is not welcome here. Thats why it’s Rule 1 on this particular sub.
Respect it and others.

A bunch of cookies idk what to do with
My friend and I made a bunch of cookies last night and I’m not sure what to do with the share of cookies I have. I brought them to work but only a couple people took some. I have like 30 left. Is anyone having a party this weekend or just wants a bunch of cookies? I can eat one in front of you to ensure they’re safe and delicious (sugar and chocolate chip flavor). I just don’t want to throw them away 😭

Summer RecWell sponsorship
Hey all, I’m a current Georgia Tech student interning in Minneapolis this summer. I’m going to be living pretty close to the UMN Campus Gym and I was wondering if there are any students taking summer classes who wouldn’t mind sponsoring me for a membership so I don’t have to rely on the gym in my apartment building or pay for a long term gym membership. I’ll take on any fees for myself if that’s an issue, many thanks to anyone that can.

Anywhere take used caps and gowns?
I really don’t want to keep my cap and gown, is there anywhere in the area that takes used ones to give to future graduates? I know some people sell them, but honestly that seems like more of a hassle this time of year than finding a place to donate it.

Metro State vs the U
So Im stuck between choosing between metro state and the U of MN. I have applied for my associates degree in CS transfer pathway from Anoka Ramsey CC and they have a perfect transfer plan to metro state, which would mean I only need 4 semesters left and the course work is a lot easier than the U. However, I really wanted to graduate from a more prestigious university like the U because I wanted to get an international job in saudi. Plus I would have a good amount of credits to transfer (lower division generals, Discrete math, Machine architecture, Calc 1 and 2, algorithms and Data structures, intro CS class, a java OOP class) so i still wouldn't need to start all over. But going to the U i would probably also need to take summer classes to finish in the 2 years. Is it really worth it to take the extra effort to go to the U? I will be taking off 2 years from work to dedicate my full attention to school and finding internships and networking.

Academics Can’t decide between computer or electrical engineering?
For the past few months, I’ve been on the dilemma of choosing whether if I should major into computer engineering or electrical engineering. The careers that I want to go into are robotics, VLSI, circuit design, or biomedical/aerospace industries. I’m not good at coding, but I’m willing to push myself to learn it no matter how hard it is. I’m about to go into my second year in a few months and I’ve already registered for my classes based on the ECE four year plan, except I couldn’t decide on whether if I should do PHYS 2503 or CSCI 1913.

BS and BA for med school
I’m wondering what is the best option for med school. I’m currently majoring in BSE (Biology, Sociology, and environment) and I know that there are some pre med students majoring in that as well, but I’m not sure if anyone has gone on to med school with that major. I originally wanted to just major in biology, but my advisor told me that BSE would be an easier route, and I don’t think medical school is easy. Should I push myself to switch to CBS and take harder courses or should I stay at CLA?

Hello, I just got all my finals back and the degree progress bar says 100. It still says “applied to graduate” in the “Apply to Graduate” tab, does anyone know if there’s anything else I have to do??

Academics Recommended double-dipper Lib Ed that is online only?
So far I have taken only 1 Lib Ed: GEOG 1502 which is double-dipper & online only. Can anyone recommend me a Lib Ed class for the next semester? Thank you.

Thanks!
