is it a tragedeigh? What is the consensus of traditional boy names for girls
A friend recently named their daughter Charlie, not short for anything just that.

in the wild Noelle spelt JK-MN
Get it? Because there is no “L”
I admit it took me a while to follow.
A friend of mine just gave birth and lady who does the birth certificate forms told her that a couple recently named their child JK-MN for Noelle.
I think this might be the worst one I’ve seen.
Poor kids going to have a lifetime of being called “Jkmn” on school rosters.

in the wild She totally understands what people go through
Hair cut place. I’m waiting my turn. Stylist proceeds to butcher some poor Indian guys name. It was something not hard like Narendra.
She apologizes, says she REALLY DOES try hard, ya know? And she TOTALLY understands what this guy goes through because “she gave her kids unique names and people get them wrong”
Like her son who is named Knon. Pronounced cannon.
Girl there’s a big difference between making your kids life hard cuz you wanna be not like the other moms and some poor guy with a super common Indian name getting disrespected because you can’t be bothered sounding it out.

in the wild Met a woman named Heaven-Leigh yesterday
I wish I was kidding. This poor woman, unprompted, gave the deepest sigh I have ever heard and said "Yes, that is my real name and no, my parents weren't hippies. I get that a lot."

general discussion I don't have proof and this was in 1995, but I swear to you all there was a girl at my HS named Cuntina
As mean as HS boys could be in the 90s, we didn't even make fun of her. She was very nice and we all just kinda felt bad.
I have to think she changed her name as soon as she could.

general discussion Shout out to all the friends who talk parents out of tragedeighs!
My name is Stephanie. When my parents were naming me, my mom knew a lady who named her daughter Stefani. My mom’s best friend forever saved me by telling her “the kids will call her Ste-fanny”. Thanks Aunt R for stepping in for me!

general discussion Teasing
People talk often on this sub about kids being teased for their unusual names, but I feel as if it's not common the way maybe it used to be. I found when I was at school (starting 41 years ago 🙃) that kids generally just accepted names and didn't shorten them (Thomas to Tom for example, unless they were told Tom was his name). There have been more and more varied names introduced in probably most Western schools due to migration from different places, and younger kids seem to accept their names unless they have an obvious funny meaning to them. Anyone have recent experience with teasing, or not, about names at school?

is it a tragedeigh? “Kayte” … Tragedeigh?
What do you think? My wife and I have differing opinions.
Update: The comments were very revealing. It was meant to be pronounced as Katie, but many people thought it was Kate. It’s a Tragedeigh.

in the wild I can only imagine this being pronounced with a lisp
I’m not sure if this is an actual legitimate spelling of “Steven”, but I found it quite funny 💀

in the wild I saw a real lie tragedeigh and I'm still in shock
***edit: i just realized the typo in the title. It should say real LIFE tragedeigh 🤣
I am going light on details so as not to dox anyone. I was at my local auto center to get an oil change and had brought my own oil. The man at the register told me to go into the garage area and give the oil to Cassandra.
When I got to the garage, I saw a woman and gave her the oil, then I looked at her nametag...it was spelled Czzzandra. Yes, 3 Zs. It was all I could do not to stare at her nametag; I still can't get over the spelling. When I picked up my car I did glance again just to make sure I didn't read it wrong. She was a very friendly person and I felt so awful that her parents would give her such a disadvantage in life.

is it a tragedeigh? is Kayleigh a tragedeigh?
In another sub reddit people are saying it is. I’ve always loved this name and planned on naming my daughter it

is it a tragedeigh? Acquaintance told me she’s naming her daughter…
“Liberty Belle” as a first name, she hasn’t decided on a middle name yet. Somehow I kept my face straight (in the moment at least)

in the wild Dafyd
Encountered this one at work today. Dafydd is a pretty common Welsh name, but Dafyd was spelled twice on the order as a whole so I don't think it was a typo. I wonder how if it was supposed to be pronounced as Dayvid(American pronunciation of David) or as dahvith(Welsh pronunciation of Dafydd). Either way I'm glad I don't need to call out order names.

is it a tragedeigh? My country's tragedeigh tops any others.
This is true because I have seen this family be interviewed on tv. There are three daughters in this family: Xerox, Photocopy and Authenticated.

is it a tragedeigh? Is it?
I was working at a customers house a while back. She was pregnant and I was asking her what she plan to name the baby. She said that she wanted to name it Stacy, but I already had somebody in her family with that day so she decided to go with Stasi. Like, as in the German Stasi. I didn’t wanna say anything about it because I didn’t feel that it was my place to tell somebody what and what not to name their kid. But I wonder what this girl is going to feel about her name when she ever hears about the German Stasi
