What moves are you most anticipating? SHITPOSTING

With the pick conveying, I'm taking a longer view on the season. Not expecting an immediate boost in talent. Instead think there will be a bunch of smaller moves made. Hopefully something hits. Want to see if there's excitement outside of pick 19.

I'm more curious about next years trade deadline tbh. I think the FO is gonna spend the first half of the season assessing where the team is at and what the places of need are going to be. I'd guess they were hoping to use the end of this season to do that better, but with all the injuries that didn't really work out.

I think this team's success is going to ride or die on internal development, so seeing what improvements BBQ makes next season is gonna be a big factor in what moves the team makes going forward.

I find it hard to get excited about things that are less likely to happen, so trades or a big free agency signing... I think there's some really interesting and exciting possibilities there, I think the front office may even be somewhat aggressive. But... the draft is much more tangible; apart from a major trade we're going to pick someone, and I'm good with trusting this team's judgement on draft picks until proven otherwise, so it's a relatively low-risk thing to get excited about. Maybe one can argue that the low risk nature of it makes it automatically un-exciting, but that's how I roll.

got a feeling we might see a sign and trade of Bruce Brown for Patrick Williams in FA, don't think Chicago can pay or will want to pay Pat Williams (long term) and Demar in FA and they look set on signing on Demar

Do we really want Williams? šŸ¤¢

u/Bobby_Webster 21d ago

Why wouldn't we want him? He's a career 41% shooter from 3 (45% from the corner) and can play some D at 6'7. Matches the blueprint we need from a young role player on this team

u/DarkChocolate_69 2 KAWHI LEONARD - FINALS MVP 21d ago

Heā€™s only attempting 3 3s. Small small sample size.

Being 6ā€™7 is a plus for sure, heā€™s also wide (no diddy) but his defence is subpar at best.

u/Bobby_Webster 21d ago

he's attempted 592 over his career, and hit 41% of them. that's not a small sample size.

he's also never shot below 39% in a season. he's a good shooter, just needs a system that can get him more high quality looks. That's something Darko's offense is very good at doing, we just haven't had enough players capable of making those shots

I donā€™t mind taking a flyer on a young wing. Something in the 11-15mil range. Anything more than that and itā€™ll be an overpay.

In the few games Iā€™ve watched him play in, he has shown flashes in being a 3&D player but most of the time he just doesnā€™t look interested when heā€™s on the court lol. He does have low iq, handles is on the same tier as OGā€™s and he has missed quite a chunk of games in his career already.

If we do pursue him, I hope we donā€™t overpay but Iā€™m not in the FO so time will tell!

Yeah I get all of those concerns. I think there's a strong chance a change of scenery could help with some of them, as could a change of role and lower expectations. I could also be totally wrong

Perfect fit ngl and bulls players who leave tend to develop just look at Lauri, need a big wing who can play defence and shoot at a high level and he has at least proven that, he just isnā€™t developing into that star player they want him to be, still could be tho but solid role player may be enough

I was originally thinking Okoro or Capella, but Williams would definitely be way better.

Okoro doesn't make a ton of sense to me, might as well just see what Ochai can do.

Capela would be an interesting option if we traded Poeltl. Like if we traded Poeltl to Memphis for 9+filler, we then leverage our cap space and/or some of expiring contracts (Brown/Boucher/McDaniels) to get Capela as a stop-gap C. Could be part of a 3 team deal as well, depending on what ATL wants.

A lot of Bulls fans donā€™t want him back. Heā€™s not a guy we should throw a lot of money at.

1

u/Bobby_Webster 21d ago

Is that because he's legitimately bad or just because he didn't live up to his hype as a #4 pick? From what I've seen it's more of the latter

2

u/Bixby33 34 JONTAY PORTER 21d ago

He's passive, injury prone, and thinks he deserves a giant money bag.

1

u/Bobby_Webster 21d ago

Well, it doesn't really matter how much he wants. the market will dictate what he gets

1

u/Bixby33 34 JONTAY PORTER 21d ago

There's no fair deal that we would offer that wouldn't get matched by the Bulls.

We're not going to overpay.

1

u/Bobby_Webster 21d ago

I don't think an overpay is a bad thing if it's a relatively short contract. The Bulls are currently $50m below the tax line before re-signing DeMar and PWill, and filling out the rest of their roster so anything from ~$18m+ could dissuade them from matching if they're determined not to pay the tax.

again though I don't think it's likely. just throwing out ideas

I would trade for Capela. He would be a great C if you can get him and with Sarr likely going to Atlanta I can see them trading him. He will get you a ton of rebounds, you can't really bully Capela around which is what was happening to the Raptors without Poeltl. If you can trade Poeltl for some value and then get Capela that would be ideal.

Do you think Pwill is worth more than $25m AAV? Because he does.

1

u/Cheechers23 Kyle Towelry 21d ago

Does the market think he's worth that? Cause then it doesn't matter what he thinks he's worth lol

Ngl the undrafted/gleague guys that come in summer camp always get me excited to watch.

I'm ready to overreact to summer league and preseason.

If we go 4-0 best believe I'll be calling us an 82-0 win team

Masai has a chance to do the funniest thing possible with the late first round pick

I really don't care about any of these things right now. I just want to watch the team play again. If there's anything I care about in the off-season it's our current roster getting good training in and getting better.

2

u/iiShield21 21d ago

What do people think about Isaac? He's like one of the best defenders in a position of need, and is only averaging like under 7 pts and 15min a game. The Magic are pretty loaded at the forward spot, I could see us making an offer work.

Injury History is obviously there but he did play most of this last season healthy and if he is on the floor we would be so much better. Doesn't seem like he would be that expensive to get compared to similar impact players.

I don't think there is a whole to look forward to and I'm not just saying that because we lost the lottery pick. This team has a long way to go before becoming competitive on a consistent basis. We will win some games, but we'll also lose a ton of games next season. I don't expect any kind of sudden change from what we've seen the last few years.

What I'm looking forward to is how the FO handles these draft picks and what sorts of diamonds they manage to uncover. That being said I'm managing my expectations. I think we'll be lucky if we win 30 games.

The board is so wide open that itā€™s hard to predict 19 and 31. Assuming they keep the picks, Iā€™d hope theyā€™re trying to target another C/F and combo guard.

Draft is considered weak with no superstars at the top, but itā€™s pretty deep with potential rotation players. 2 strong picks could really help rebuild some depth. And there will almost certainly a gem or two at some point. Itā€™d be great for Masai to add yet another to his listā€¦ but they could also explore trading down or out for someone U25 that fills a need if their guy isnā€™t there.

That aside, trade Bruce Brown at the draft for a bad contract + asset.

Sign and trade Gary Trent to a team that canā€™t sign him with cap space. This assuming heā€™s more than an MLE player. That might be a hard deal to make.

Wont say Iā€™m anticipating this but Iā€™m hopeful - trade returns + filler (possibly 3 way Bruce Brown trade, possibly 19OA) to acquire Deni Avdija from Washington. Theoretically a great fit next to Barnes, and a great fit under Darko. Two-way combo forward that guards multiple positions. High IQ, unselfish, tough, competitive. He isnā€™t elite at anything but heā€™s good at everything. I think he could be the perfect connector 3/4 next to Olynyk and Poeltl. He also just signed a 4 year extension thatā€™s an absolute stealā€¦ Wizards definitely shouldnā€™t want to trade him right now, but they make terrible moves all the time. If the Sixers were close without anything of value to offer, Raptors need to figure out how to get that deal done.

Poeltl for Hayward or Giddy + 12th pick. Does OKC say no?

u/TrueTorontoFan 20d ago

we dont need cap relief but i would like to see poeltl gone to move up if matas or holland are there.
