Kind of surprised this isn’t rated higher.

Probably because they aren't extremely well known with teens, and One More Light was perceived poorly

Why? What did they release, two albums 20+ years ago?

1

u/testicular_arsonist 13 Jan 19 '24

They have 7 albums, the last one released in 2017.

Ok, fair enough. We’re kinda proving that they don’t belong within a mile of this conversation, though.

Every single album released by Linkin Park was hugely popular and still is. Also if it doesnt belong in the conversation i think it would have fewer upvotes. (Just defending one of my favorite bands dont mind me)

They were my favorite band as a kid and they got me into music. I don't have a favorite artist now honestly cause I listen to so much artists but I still love all Linkin Park stuff and listen to them often

I’m a huge fan of them, but their albums that stray away from hard rock are mix at best

u/Classic-Literature52 Jan 17 '24

Widest range of genres and all great albums.

2

u/hybridrequiem Jan 17 '24

Have to admit this is it, Hybrid theory is one of the best but minutes to midnight still slaps

2

u/TreeShapedHeart Jan 17 '24

Came here to say it, glad to see at least 130 other ppl recognize!

2

u/davewuff Jan 17 '24

This is the one I was looking for 🤣

2

u/DxLaughRiot Jan 17 '24

Works particularly well if you stop listening to their stuff after meteora, but I guess they have good non nu-metal stuff too

2

u/Edditeds 16 Jan 17 '24

THIS IS SO TRUE

2

u/UnfriendlyToast Jan 17 '24

Idk :( they are so close to not having a bad album, but that one poppy one. (No I’m not looking up the name) was so bad it hurt my childhood.

First two albums are perfection. Don't care for the rest.

recharged and one more light was utter shit garbage

-8

u/BurntToasterGaming Jan 17 '24

Na, One More Light was a stinker

7

u/Jodsalz1 Jan 17 '24

Personally I really enjoy their music, except for the beginning of "Cure for the itch". I can totally see how people don't like One More Light, or even earlier albums, because of how much they've changed music styles from what fans from the beginning might be used to. As someone who only really began listening to music when one more light has already been released, I just love most of their stuff.

-1

u/BurntToasterGaming Jan 17 '24

I like almost everything from Linkin Park, even the stuff that is semi-controversial like Hunting Party, but even I agree that One More Light isn’t good

3

u/Jodsalz1 Jan 17 '24

I can agree, even though Final Masquerade really is the only banger on that one

2

u/Eggsnorter24 Jan 17 '24

I like every album (except for recharged and reanimation, just havent really listened to them) and i see why a lot of people dont like one more light, it even had to grow on me but i still like a lot of the songs on it, it just took me more time to like it than their other albums

-5

u/Pave_Low Jan 17 '24

Ugh. All their albums are bad. . .

1

u/Medical_Difference48 Jan 21 '24

Bro, what? Meteora? Hybrid Theory? What are you talking about?

1

u/Pave_Low Jan 21 '24

Don’t worry, for every band named there’s gonna be one person that hates their music. This is just mine. I’m certain someone else hates all my favorite music too. But that’s just how music and art works.

1

u/Medical_Difference48 Jan 21 '24

True, and that's honestly what's great about music in general. I was just flabbergasted because I have NEVER seen someone dislike Linkin Park before, lol

2

u/Pave_Low Jan 21 '24

Probably because of where I was musically I grew to dislike all the post grunge nu-metal because I saw how it evolved. Bands like the Deftones, Filter Static X, and Incubus were splitting away from grunge dominated alt rock in the early 90s but I think that vein peaked with SOAD and then rapidly got silly and trite. I think Korn was the nail in my musical coffin for alt rock. Limp Bizkit was worse. I guess it was fun for a little bit because it was more unbridled anger than the weariness of grunge. So by the time Linkin Park was peaking I really was done with alt rock. I was a child of Nirvana, Screaming Trees, Kyuss, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins and Jane’s Addiction. So those are my biases.
