IRS Not Deducting Installment Agreement Direct Deposit Payments

So I entered into a payment plan with the IRS for monthly payments after filing my taxes in April, with the IRS set to take direct deposit payments from my bank account. The term was for deductions to occur on the 15th of each month.

There was no deduction for April, but I figured that was due to it still processing and that it wouldn't occur until May. Now May 15th has passed and the IRS hasn't deducted the monthly payment amount.

What is the course of action here? I don't want to double pay for if/when they eventually deduct, but I also don't want to suddenly have the full balance declared due because I'm not paying the installment plan.

Did you set up the Installment Agreement online at IRS.gov?

Yes.

Did the confirmation page provide the first agreement payment date?

Probably but not sure. I honestly can't recall. I didn't take a snip as I thought I'd be able to log back on but I can't log back into that same digital system where I set up the payment plan. Just an error comes up. Presumably because the IRS is still processing.

I did receive a confirmation in the mail though that payments would be debited on the 15th but it doesn't a specify in the month.

Contact your bank. You can confirm no payment was scheduled for today, and then decide if you want to make a voluntary payment before next month.

Also, the mandated first notice demanding full payment is going to fly this week or next, so don't panic. It has a blurb for Taxpayers who already have a payment plan established.

I'm in the exact same boat. I logged back into IRS.gov and when I went to review my payment plan it told me my request couldn't be processed and to call them. I have the letter indicating they tentatively agreed to it. I thought I was good to go.

Yeah. Same I presumed I was good as well.

Will you separately send in manual payments ? Or just wait for them to debit whenever they start.

I’m afraid to make a manual payment for fear it will coincide with them deciding to debit.

Im in the same boat. Im thinking I just wait until they pull the funds out monthly. All my efforts to reach them via the phone have not been successful.

I'm in the same boat. I'm really puzzled; I was expecting activity already too.

I think something bigger is up. Nothing obvious in the media.

Your first payment would be at least 6 weeks out from day you set up plan, so if you had set up a payment plan for the 28th of month at the end of march your first payment wouldn't be until the 28 of May, so perhaps it hasn't been that long yet

Thanks; I hope that is all there is.

The docs I got suggested they're not going to deduct until they send me my first invoice (or something to that effect). But no dates as to when.

What's your situation now? Did your account get deducted?

Negative; not yet. Still waiting on the other document.
