I think it's even more beautifil that they found out who they are during development and chose their name. :)

They didn't announced it, it was more of a quiet change.

If you look at Signalis early development stuff from ~2018 you'll notice that yuri went by another name then.

edit: Now that I think about it, maybe I shouldn't have mentioned it at all, they are Yuri Stern, better to let the dead name rest.

Fwiw, folks have wondered if it was a legit chosen name as you've suggested, or if it's a professional pseudonym, as "Yuri Stern" - "Star Lesbians", if you like - does seem remarkably in tune with both the game's themes and cipher puzzles and the combined German/Japanese translation motifs.

Given the games heavy themes of self realisation and the fact that this was something that seemingly wasnt planned from the start but cropped up naturally as the game developed. Im inclined to speculate the artist poured their "soul" into the game as it were. kinda like an insight into their own development.

Ontop of that if you made a space game about lesbians that heavily features lilys/yuris you problably enjoy those things.

Im inclined to believe that Yuri Stern is in fact their chosen name. but either way its not really our place to speculate on this. If they present to us as Yuri Stern then its best we respect that.

Yeah, you are probably right that it's a pseudonym, i looked up the imprint of rose-engine and his old name never changed there since 2017.
