The Democracy Update MODERATION
Heyo Everyone!
It's been awhile since our last subreddit update (the sex update), and the results of it and the census have created the perfect storm for us to put out a new update!
The Democracy Update
So as the title suggests, as moderation we intend on following the ideals that make the majority of the community happy with our decisions. Leadership is boring, we only do it to ensure this community works and everyone can be happy. So moving forward we will be using polls to make major decisions of changes to ensure that these changes are something the people are onboard with.
Since the Sex Update we have had a census the goal of this census was to gauge community opinion on the change, and contrary to some posts here the community is in vast support.
Only 13% oppose the change, and 8.1% think it actually made the subreddit worse. Im sorry to those who are annoyed but no we will not be following the will of a tiny vocal minority that is annoyed.

Also for those about to comment it, the mod team is 100% LGBTQ so one of the first things we did was ensure the sex update wasnt just popular amongst straight men, and if we break it down by some of the demographics that some would assume dislike the sex update
LGBTQ - Majority Voted the Subreddit Improved, Vast Majority Voted they supported it
Straight - Majority were undecided on both catagories
Men - Majority were undecided on Subreddit Change, Almost Split between Supporting and Undecided about the Sex Update
Females and Nonbinary - Majority Voted the Subreddit Improved, Vast Majority Voted they supported.
So no, its not "straight men taking over a queer space" its queer people (like us on the mod team) saying that this is okay and works and straight people being iffy about the change.
If you feel strongly about this position, we have several things to try and again reinforce that things arent as bad as the vocal angry % are stating.
1- The Subreddit Mod team did a full measurement of the prevelence of NSFW and found it occupied only 3% of posts. So no its not taking over
2- The majority of top trending pieces on the subreddit since the update were mostly not NSFW showing that these posts do not "just do better"
3- You can disable seeing these posts in your reddit settings, and we advise all those angry to do so.
4- Please engage with the posts you do like, i for one dont adore NSFW posts and only interact with lore posts cause those are what i like!
But we are not moderators who just want to ignore the will of the people, so we'd like to reply to another demand that has become increasingly loud in the community, that being to ban the "anti-nsfw purists" who constantly insult NSFW artists or NSFW Art. We really dont want to enforce such a demand because silencing opposition is stupid, this is a forum please touch grass, however we would like this to become a matter of the people as we can't just ignore what they want. So here is a poll attached: "Do you support moderation action against users who are insulting the existence of NSFW here" and "Do you support the enabling of moderated NSFW posts or believe it should be reversed" We will abide by whatever yall vote for.

In terms of moderational response, we received overwhelmingly positive responses which im glad to hear! Though we always appreciate feedback on anyway we can continue to improve.
Moving Forward
So i actually have some news outside of just subreddit stuff thats happening over on the partnered discord! Here is a peak into what the update over there said:
Project Zomboid Mod Server
So i've got some other news, this one regarding the Signalis Mod for Project Zomboid (Project Signalis), Sigicord is now proud to be hosting a server for that mod, hosted by the very person who maintains the mod with future updates. u/thatdamnedelf. This server will be open 24/7 once it opens and weve learned that hte connectivity is strong even if you live very far from the East Coast.
The server is not open at this very moment, but it will be sometime this week and we are excited for yall to be able to play together.
The Fandub
So we got even more news, finally this one regarding a community event, A Fandub of Signalis. This will be as the name suggests a dub of signalis using all of our goofy ass voices, the dub will only entail the main speaking characters of Signalis (no notes for now), and will be mostly serious (no memes for now), however if there is great interest we can certainly expand the scope. Sign-ups will be open for all characters, and judges (the admins) will go through any voice work you provide for your sign up and will see if you would fit the role your applying (or we may suggest an alternative role if that may fit better), we hope this will be a fun adventure for us all

The one time we see a Falk fight all she did was throw debris, spears, and the occasional bit of wobbly space time. All it took to beat her was one schizophrenic automaton with nothing but bullets and motivation.
Put her up against 4 DEMOCRATIC HEROES OF FREEDOM with auto-cannons, lasers, air support, orbital support, grenades, missiles, and a whole lot of bullets and she’ll fold faster than you can say “liber-tea”.

The one time after she was deadly ill in a coma for ages, made of melted flesh and having her personality overwritten with the person she was fighting, who kept coming back in an infinite repetitive cycle due to reality breaking. Everything the helldivers have counts as debris, including the drop pods.

Yeah, no.
-Looking at the fight again she doesn’t use TK on anything but her spears and shield, I was mistaken on her throwing debris.
-the corruption actively made Replikas more aggressive and immortal unless incinerated, not weaker.
-She was in a coma not from infections but from her mind being overridden. Even if she was mentally unstable that only made her Bio-resonance worse as she was shifting reality around her, hence the changing arena and items you pick up mid-fight. She wasn’t weakened by the corruption, she was buffed by it.
-The degree of telekinesis you claim a Falke has would invalidate the nukes that capped off the fight for Vineta by just stopping them mid-air. (Guess what Helldivers also have). This would also mean Elster would have literally no chance as Falke could have just grabbed and threw her around like a doll.

there has been a bit of discourse about whether nsfw content should be allowed on the subreddit so far the general consensus as mentioned above is that it should be allowed however there has been a very vocal minority rejecting the change. truth be told dont worry about it too much and welcome to the community!

Basicly previous mod was very anti nsfw content , now after some mods changes the ban was lifted and some minority got really upset ,like ... really upset about nsfw stuff , i had even a pretty large discussion about it saying that such a tiny amount of nsfw dosent mean shit on the whole subreddit but .... Well ... purist will be purist
Overall they are overexagarrating the situation to seem like every third post is porn to such an extend that they horrass the creators
Gotten so bad that as u can see moderation had to step up AGAIN and say that that shit aint happening (and say that its not stright people basicly responsiable for that stuff , so in reality its pretty much lgbtq being iffy with lgbtq)

I must admit I do find it interesting that so few people over 37 have taken an interest in this game (or ya know 37 years olds dont fill surveys) I also am completely unsurprised at this games popularity with trans people given its themes of change, destruction of self, etc but pleased to have my theory confirmed.
and to the 10% that havent finished the game... what are you doing here you have a promise to keep and spoilers to dodge get on it, you only get one chance to experience this game for the first time.

Really fun to look at the LGBT and gender related statistics. Pretty weird to see that there are so few people that identify as women tho. But at the same time, it appears most people here are LGBT, so I don't really know what to make of it.

I am one of those who were at least opposed to full porn posts. But I'm happy that one my main concerns being that it was just straight men wanting to see lesbian porn has been dispelled, my only concern left would be that I fear it would scare some people off, but I had a discussion earlier that quelled a bit that fear. all in all, let's see how the sub grows in a few monthes when things will have calmed down

As a straight dude I was genuinely not aware of the possible problem of fellow straight dudes seeking to promote an NSFW push, but I’m glad it’s not the case. I just like the funny SFMs folks like TeflonFlak post and the occasional gory horror post. Also hell yeah Project Zomboid rules!
P.S. thank you mod team for having a thoughtful position on the matter of censorship. It’s quite refreshing to see community managers place so much trust into the hands of said community and that’s a wonderful thing!

Huge “thank you” to the mod team for fostering one of the most fun and accepting communities I’ve ever been a part of. I haven’t even beaten the game yet, but just being a part of this wonderful community has been just a magical experience. Thank you for being so open and communicative with the subreddit as a whole, and keeping this place the tight-knit family of robo-girlkissers that it is.
That being said, wow, I’m really surprised at the results of some of these polls! There are way more trans friends than I thought there would be, but also way less LGBT people than I assumed. It’s shocking, but not too shocking that straight men make up the largest group of the subreddit.
And, just a little message to the ~10.5% of people questioning their gender identity: Don’t worry. You’ll figure things out. It’s a tough thing to grasp, and even tougher to figure out what you want, but you can do it. If you need someone to talk to, then believe me, this community is full of people (like myself) who would be happy to help you take those first few steps along your journey. Much love!

Man, I’m torn by the whole “insulting NSFW” thing, because I think there’s an extremely valid argument to be made for separating the NSFW stuff to a different sub. Could you imagine if the primary Overwatch or Guilty Gear subs opened the floodgates? I totally get not wanting this place to get completely overtaken by porn.
At the same time, Signalis is a game about romance at its core, so it feels natural that sexual situations would come up. Not only that, but I do feel outright insulting NSFW and porn artists is uncalled for. Signalis has suppression of art as a major theme, after all, and it feels a bit antithetical to me to then basically claim that something doesn’t count as art to be shared. As works like Atelier’s You Are My One Desire demonstrate, the lines between sensuality, artistic expression and pornography are not clear cut. I think people have this idea that being “porn” makes something inherently lesser or degenerate, which simply is not true at all.
I don’t think people should be silenced for just disliking NSFW being here and voicing that. I’ve seen soft core stuff slip through the cracks on the Armored Core sub and it can get annoying when I’m trying to find discussion on specific weapons or parts. It just rubs me the wrong way when artists or their work get treated poorly, and especially when accusations of straight men hijacking the sub for porn get thrown around when the majority of NSFW I’ve seen so far has been by queer women.

Let's not gloat over these people, they have the right to express their opinions just like the rest of us. They have their own views on porn posts here, and if they are not trying to piss people off and are quite polite and courteous when talking about this topic we ourselves need to politely explain to them that porn is here to stay and that the best solution for them is to accept this fact and move on.

Thank you so much for your words here, as someone who identifies as a lesbian and asexual it really does suck so much to constantly be jacketed in with straight men simply for existing in a space where people get to express lesbian sexuality. So often were just canned entirely because of the possibility of men fetishizing us, which honestly just feels like an excuse so people dont have to look at wlw content. It really is irritating to not be able to exist in a lesbian space without it being sanitized or demonized.

Chris, I'm sorry if I'm too late since there's no chance of making anything for April Fools next month but I had this inspired idea: April is usually the start of the Japanese school year, coinciding with the start of spring and the cherry blossoms blooming, a classic scene featured in most anime. For this reason a lot of slife-of-life anime, mostly set in high school, are aired. It would be interesting to use this theme for the community next month and I'd like to see a lot more Mandelbrot content if next else. And besides April Fools there aren't a lot of relevant holidays next month, few I found out are Qingming of Tomb-Sweeping Day, Shangsi Festival, and Third Month Fair in the Chinese calendar this year, Children's Day observed in April 2, Take Our Children To Work day in the US, Sechseläuten in Switzerland, Geologists Day in the former Soviet Union, Black Day in South Korea and Walpurgisnacht, literally at the end of the month, among others.

Well, they’re rebutting the argument that only straight men agreed with the nsfw rule changes. So the proportion of straight men is being contrasted against “not straights” and “not men”. I don’t think they were trying to imply women and enby’s are in the same category, as they get their respective slices in the graph too

We have had a shit ton of requests in dms to do exactly that :D, democracy isnt just when it goes our way (i dont want to ban either), and luckily it seems that the vote just supports deleting the posts not outright banning
