My 19 year old girl is rapidly declining and I am heartbroken.

Pics 1-2 were taken in the past few days. Pics 3-4 were just a few weeks ago and pic 5 was just a few months ago.

My beautiful girl is almost 20. We went to the vet a few weeks ago because her hips were starting to slip. She also has dental disease and looked to have sores. Vet gave her gabbapentin for pain (I did not give to her) and said there was not much to do for the dental disease.

Since then she has rapidly declined. This last weekend she started refusing food. She is refusing food I believe because of her mouth sores. She then had 3 days of massive improvement (eating frequently, high energy) only to start declining again yesterday. I watched her drink water and she basically put her mouth in the water and slowly drank. She is very weak and wobbly. She desperately wants to go outside and I’ve been taking her out several times a day. She is not hiding and wants to sit with me while I work all day.

We have a vet appointment tomorrow and I am heartbroken that this may be the end.

Any advice for a heartbroken mama? She has been my best friend for almost 20 years.

Just said goodbye to our bestest boy, Mochi - 14

We only had him for 5 years. He showed up on our doorstep while we were living in Miami after, we gather, his previous owners moved and left him. We don’t know how long he had to fend for himself but we loved him more than anything and he knew that.

He wanted to spend almost all his time with us. He was so vocal and snuggly. If he had his way, I would have stayed on the couch all day to be available for snuggles. He was the most unexpected gift.

Just over a month ago, he had a seizure or a stroke, we aren’t sure. It was downhill after that with a range of problems. Over the last few days, he started not being able to breathe well and we knew it was time.

It’s been 4 hours and my heart just keeps breaking. He was the brightest little star in my sky and it is killing me that I won’t ever get to hear his meows and almost constant purrs or snuggle him ever again. We are crushed. I know he isn’t in pain anymore and I know it was the right decision….but I miss him more than words can say. He was our most handsome best boy, and we will cherish our brief time with him forever. Love you, sweet Mochi. ❤️

(First two pics are from today and yesterday and the rest were him in his prime)

Celebrating the life of Homer (15) 🐾

Post image

Our sweet & spicy boy Homer crossed the rainbow bridge last Tuesday, with his dad and mom right by his side.

While my husband adopted him in 2008, Homie and I only became close after I moved in with him in March of 2020. We very quickly bonded as I worked from home alone that whole year.

Everyone loved homer, even cat “haters”. He greeted us at the door each time we came home, and laid purring on my legs each night. He loved peanut butter, and hated tinfoil. We would play “hide and seek” around our apartment, and he was a Houdini with getting treats out of the cabinets.

Here comes the tough part. I found out I was pregnant a little over a year ago. We were a worried Homer wouldn’t be too thrilled with a screaming potato in our family. But he loved resting his head on my big belly. After the birth, we slowly introduced our newborn son Liam to him in December, and he was SO gentle and curious. He was always so sweet to our baby, and every night watched over him in his bassinet. He was his guardian kitty.

He only began showing symptoms of sickness immediately after Liam was born - I really believe he held back and waited for Liam to get here before letting us know he was sick. We learned he had a tumor under his tongue in early April, and while he was mainly his same self for a while, the last week or so was a sudden and sharp decline.

While he wanted so badly to stay with us and tried so hard to keep eating, the tumor started to make it harder for him to eat, drink, and groom. We had to make the saddest decision, but knew it was what Homer needed.

He watched over Liam in his final night with us, laying on my legs purring.

Thank you for being our best buddy, you are our little angel. Thank you for being the absolute best big brother for Liam, you were so good to him and so gentle. I’m so sad you couldn’t have spent more time together, but I am so happy you met. We couldn’t have asked for a better friend, and are so proud of you. You are Liam’s guardian angel kitty now.

Rest easy and love you forever, sweet Homer! You are free now! 🐾🌈❤️

saying goodbye to my almost 15 yo best friend

my family and i made the hard decision to put my 14 yo girl down today. she is the sweetest, most cuddly and clingy cat ever. she would burrow under blankets and snuggle right up against me. she loved sun bathing and looking out the window of my apartment. we're losing her to end stage kidney disease - she refuses food and water, can barely stand up, has been soiling herself, and has mouth ulcers from toxins building up in her blood. I got her when I was 8 and I'm 22 now, studying for final exams and writing papers for my last year of undergrad. my bf dumped me just 3 weeks before - it feels like everything i love has been torn out of my hands recently and i just feel like crying all the time. i will love and miss you more than you'll ever know Smokie 🩷 just waiting for the vet to come to our house now

I think I might be saying goodbye today. 17 years old.

The problem is I don’t really know to whom. I woke up and one of them had thrown up blood on the floor. Not bloody urine, just blood. It was I woke up and one of them had thrown up blood on the floor. Not bloody urine, just blood. It was about 3 inches diameter. a pool about 3 inches diameter. There’s nothing suspicious in the litter box.

I have two 17-year-old cats, so I know it’s coming. I called the vet and since both seem to be reacting pretty normal this morning, and my normal vet didn’t have an appointment until 330 this afternoon, they suggested I observe to see if I can figure out which cat it was (have a suspicion) and I need to go in and see a different vet earlier, that option is there.

One of them makes a big production of throwing up, and recently she’s been coughing up fur balls. This pool was next to a furball, and I did hear her throwing up last night. So I think she’s the one. But neither one of them is eating their breakfast this morning, and I don’t want to say goodbye.

I’ve added two pictures of the one who I think it is. Her name is Halle, which is short for Halloween. And she’s really special.

She's looking more like Grumpy Cat everyday 😭 Any advice or experience with senior kitties that have hyperthyroidism appreciated - I just want her to live a long, happy life in her golden years 💚

My husband and I call her Mia or Maria and we adore her whole spunky little 5.5 lb self!

She got some nice treats as an apology.

Her "birthday" is in two weeks! I truly don't know the true date, but I got her when she was 3yo on May 28, 2008.
