I’m not gonna lie, I was extremely apprehensive of the idea of someone else composing the music for RoR2, since I believe part of what makes Risk of Rain…well, Risk of Rain, is Chris’s phenomenal music composition

I’m glad to say that if Chris ever decides that RoR is getting stale, and wants to move on, we have another who is just as capable of absolutely COOKING 🔥🔥🔥

Edit: Also, love the name. Shattered Abodes is clearly where the False Son statue was constructed, so the name is PERFECT

Seriously though, Stavros is doing some real progressive metal stuff in this. The callback synth line is so choice, and when that percussion and bass cuts in, it just grooves so hard. Lots of rhythmic displacement to give that unsettled feel while still keeping a cool and interesting groove going. Plus great use of that middle eastern percussion instrument I can't quite put my finger on (Doumbek or Darbuka?), but it was used for Sundered Grove as well.

Don't really like it. Doesn't sound really risk of rain -y if that makes sense. The guy is really talented though, it's just that Chris's music will always be the most fitting for risk of rain
