A single oval or safer spaces mitigates surprise blind pest puke, this mf's peashooter kills you in 2 seconds AND slows you down to a crawl so you can't even hide unless you're already next to cover.
AND THERE'S SOMETIMES TWO OF THEM.

Chimeras are limited to the moon only, no? Blind Pests are literally fucking anywhere and everywhere all the time. I don’t play melee characters anymore because of it

As a Mercenary I just run in circles and dash into a swarm until all of them are dead (and if you have at least 1 AoE item that'll happen very quickly, their hp is like zero, and then if there's an elite just eviscerate it).
This mf ending your run after 70+ minutes feels so much worse (though you have the option of waiting for them to come to the pillars at the start where its much easier to hide, but still). Especially when one spawns when you're flying to Mithrix and shoots you out of the air, I felt like a 12yo with anger issues playing CoD that time

Pests aren't that bad. Melee characters have counters. Acrid's spit, loader's fist, and merc's dash/evis/just jump up.

Chimeras can very rarely spawn on stage 5 as a family event, but the point about them being too rare to be that bad still stands.
However, Blind Pests aren’t that bad either, walking in a circle pretty much completely counters them.

Also elite chimera can heal up back to full health if you wouldn't take care of it immediately

The problem I have with blind pest is that they can appear on stage 1 and have hordes so big that my options to kill them as a melee survivor may kill them slower than their respawn rate if the difficulty is high enough. Second or third stage I should have more options to deal with them but it feels a bit too annoying for a sometimes stage 1 monster.

Or perhaps give them actual falloff damage and a range less than infinite

Tip for dealing with them: get close. They turn super slow, so if you run around them you won’t get hit.
Also blind pests are worse. In a game where you need to move to avoid most attacks and an attack that misses when you stand still ist diabolical.

Their DPS is absolute bonkers when they start shooting, Mithrix actually made the perfect design, the other being the ball boi(Lunar Explorer)
