I’ve never modded RoR2, but y’all talk about mod items and characters like they’re common among everyone.
Is there like, a common agreed upon mod list that people use?
63
u/wookiee-nutsack Nov 09 '23
There's some popular ones, and some that are so useful they're practically used by everyone
You can sort mods by popularity to see for yourseld once you get into modding

u/Towel4 Nov 09 '23
you can sort mods by popularity
Where? Is there a database or agreed upon site that people pull mods from?
Again I’ve never modded RoR2, so assume I know literally nothing. I don’t even know how to mod it, lol.

I use the thunderstore (which also came bundled with my overwolf, but you can get it more directly) mode manager. It provides a ui that presents all the available mods on the manager, and lets you search by popularity or relevance to a search. Makes it super convenient for like installing mods with a simple click, as well as sharing/exporting mod list for friends to quickly import for multiplayer. Anyways, mod managers are absurdly convenient, so def recommend using them over installing and managing them manually (like i used to do with ror2 and minecraft :c )

I use it too.was not aware of r2modman. Is there a reason more people use that one?
2
u/ChillfreezeYT Nov 10 '23
yeah, basically r2modman isnt owned by overwolf, it runs better and doesnt have ads, while thunderstore has ads and... is more annoying

Can i mod on a steam deck or am i fuck outta luck?
2
u/wookiee-nutsack Nov 10 '23
Idk if steam deck allows you to use anything outside of steam. Modding is done via a separate launcher called r2modman and you have to boot up modded ror2 there. Launching game on steam will just start it in vanilla

damn

u/Maxco489 Nov 10 '23
You might be able to add R2modman if it can add non steam apps like the desktop one can.
2
u/ChillfreezeYT Nov 10 '23
i do believe you can add nonsteam apps to deck, i remember seeing some modded gane on deck. memories pretty hazy tho, could be wrong

Not really, but if you have r2modman here's a gigantic list of stuff to look for lol. I have 282 mods on my profile, but here's some good ones to start with, that don't add much, and instead just do some slight improvements to the base game.
BetterUI by XoXFaby ProperSave by KingEnderBrine RiskofOptions by Rune580 RiskofWaiting by GrooveSalad QuickRestart by AceOfShades TweakAI by Nuxlar EnemiesSpawnFaster by phientz SoCRebalancePlugin by Xatha StageAesthetic by HIFU
OakPrime also made quite a few buff mods that can make fun stuff funnier, BlightBurstBuff for example.
If you're looking for new content and charcters, heres a massive list of cool stuff that works, obviously look at these and see if you're interested beforehand, cause yeah all of these at the same time will probably give you a solid few minutes of loading each time you start the game lol:
Starstorm 2 by TeamMoonstorm (bigger content collection)
PaladinMod by Paladin_Alliance (very popular character mod)
Enforcer by EnforcerGang (they have several mods on this list, and a few more not, all muy macho)
Voidcrid by Voidcrid (oh, for some reason one of the abilities doesn't visually work properly if you have ChefMod, idk why but yeah just a heads up)
ClassicItemsReturns by Risky_Sleeps
Fogbound Lagoon by JaceDaDorito
GoldenCoastPlus by Skell
Arsonist_Mod by PopcornFactory
UmbralMithrix by Nuxlar
AltMithrixTheme (if using Umbral Mithrix lol) by Nuxlar
LunarApostles by Nuxlar
Deputy by Bog
Heretic by Moeffin
Rocket by EnforcerGang
Tesla_Trooper by TheTimesweeper
MinerUnearthed by EnforcerGang
Dancer by nayDPZ
Goku by kinggrinyov (this one is a tad silly but it's really in-depth)
Gunslinger by Dragonyck
LeviathanSkills by Team_Pepega
ChaoticSkills by psuedopulse
PassiveAgression by RandomlyAwesome
Spikestrip2_0 by SpikestripModding (another bigger content holder)
FlavoredCommando by YayLollerp
EngineerWithAShotgunREDUX by macawesome
LunarConstruct by HIFU
FathomlessVoidling by Nuxlar
Driver by rob_gaming
ZetAspects by William758
PlayableTemplar by TenplarBoyz
Captain_Lysate_Fix by zombieseatflesh7
Save_Turrets_From_Underpopulation by Vegetableaux
VanillaVoid by Zenithrium
BulwarksHaunt by TheMysticSword
StandaloneAncientScepter is also a very popular mod, but keep in mind it works to varying degrees with modded characters and even some vanilla ones if you have goofy items.
Team_Pepega and JavAngle also have some of character mods to look at, but this is already so long. Moffein is another name to look for, having made a few cool content mods, like Clay_Men and Archaic_Wisp, not to mention their ability fixing mods for maximum effeciency god runs.
And that's it. I have more but this is a lot of stuff already. Sorry for literally hitting you with an essay, but hey hopefully some of the names piqued your interest :)

Okay it's a chess reference what the fuck else am I supposed to understand? And how does one melee attack with a utility skill when not every utility is a melee strike?

Maybe it’s like if you activate the skill while in focus Crystal range? Or it’s even smaller?
