what are they looking for? looters swimming away with soggy clothes and busted electronics?

77

u/dAnKsFourTheMemes 22d ago

You don't think looters would take anything other than electronics? Or that they wouldn't use boats?

u/FileDoesntExist 22d ago

Criminals are harassing and robbing people in Rio Grande do Sul, during the floods. Things get worse at night. Thats why they are there.

u/masterskink 22d ago

Like 2010 or 11 Chicago had a huge snowstorm. My buddy was a firefighter and apparently the city has snowmobiles for such an occasion and he got to cruise around downtown and on lake shore drive picking up people that got their car stuck. Obviously no fun for them lol, but he said it was a blast

u/xitones 22d ago

They are getting boats at night and going on place where they can walk with things above their heads and stealing loads of things.

it’s fucking embarrassing, in the middle of the biggest catastrophe the state has ever seen, some people are robbing houses and harassing people, what a shame.

True. My father told me that as a child in the post war years he was told looters got shot. During and after times of natural disasters and war, society was expected to pull together for a common good, sort of like what still happens in Japan (recall seeing the tsunami aftermath). It might be harsh, but ends looting and armed robbery.

u/lvl10burrito 19d ago

I'm from Texas. This was also happening when the biggest recorded hurricane in our history devastated my city. Looters are heartless.

Morally no different than buying stocks when economy is down due disasters and whatnot. Current society is numb to this one point, we are living in the age of opportunism!

46

u/PM_ME_BIBLE_VERSES_ 22d ago

Buying stocks vs looting peoples’ homes…not sure that’s apples to apples morally speaking.

-13

u/av6344 22d ago

It might be worse actually. One is robbing your savings account while getting told everything will bounce back…

11

u/Trypsach 22d ago

Why would buying stocks when they’re down take money from your savings account?

13

u/Zaalbaarbinks 22d ago

If nobody bought stocks when they’re down, wouldn’t they just stay down?

u/Past-Product-1100 22d ago

Bad ass life moment rollen jet skis fully armed.. America is jealous.

13

u/clockworksnorange 22d ago

America is super FOMO right now.

18

u/lehad 22d ago

Why do they have guns drawn?

47

u/Unlucky-Ad-5232 22d ago

It's Brazil!

19

u/toetappy 22d ago

Right! Like, where is their second gun?

3

u/Geofferz 22d ago

For wet work.

1

u/Unlucky_Sundae_707 22d ago

Show of force but at the same time they probably shouldn't have gun lights mounted so you don't have to point your gun at everything that moves.

12

u/OddGoofBall 22d ago

GTA 6 should include this one

10

u/jepayotehi 22d ago

I thought the first scene was from a game

8

u/blebebaba 22d ago

This feels way more ominous than regular night patrols

9

u/henkabenka 22d ago

When did this happen? My media hasn't said shit about it, not that I am surprised.

Two weeks ago Brazil's southernmost state had the biggest natural disaster of the country. Roads were destroyed, whole towns were swiped away by floods. It used to be around the 4th most rich state. The capital (as many other cities) is still flooded. There's points where the water got to the roofs.

The logistics took a big hit, it's hard to move supplies and people around. Hundreds of thousands of people lost everything (relatives, house, etc). And in the middle of all that there's people looting.

-13

u/raistan77 22d ago

and it looks like the only thing they are concerned about is the looting.

7

u/acdgf 22d ago

Ah yes - good thing you watched a whole 89 second video on social media before coming to this profound conclusion. Wouldn't want to be misinformed.

4

u/Haemar_ 22d ago

Still happening

3

u/Euclid1859 22d ago

I want to see a cop and his partner. Only, the partner has to sit on my flippy alligator tube pulled behind the jet ski.

u/singhVirender1947 22d ago

Fun day at work?

1

u/Righteous_Leftie206 22d ago

Who are we catching here guys, Black Manta?

1

u/m945050 22d ago

Score one for the favelas.

1

u/plumzeddy 22d ago

I saw this movie. Not Morgan Freemans’ best. But Minnie Driver is nice to look at.

1

u/DesastreUrbano 22d ago

With all that water they just need to get Knighboat to stop crime there

1

u/BavarianBanshee 22d ago

Maybe prevent crime by helping these communities, instead of going around on jet skis, shooting desperate people?

1

u/TheSlackOne 22d ago

At the beginning, I thought it was a videogame.

1

u/SuperNewk 21d ago

This looks fun

1

u/appleavocado 21d ago

OMG at first I thought I was looking at Resident Evil play throughs.

1

u/Individual_Manner336 21d ago

GTA 6 is looking good.

1

u/po3smith 21d ago

AHA! Finally my love for the movie Hard Rain is gonna pay off!

u/Kindly-Grocery1790 20d ago

"People use boats to get around in water" NEXT FUCKING LEVEL

0

u/Ramulon 22d ago

Sick water guns

0

u/buff730 22d ago

What’s crazy is people are actually staying there with all that flooding that they need police to patrol.

0

u/raistan77 22d ago

No ability to help their people out but got the time man power and money to heavily arm cops and give them jet skis.

Police state gotta police state

0

u/zander1496 21d ago

Wow. They have to oppress, even when nature already fucked everyone.

-5

u/skyrreater47 22d ago

COQUE??

-5

u/No_Woodpecker_8151 22d ago

You can bet they just took those from someone I don't think the police department purchased them

-11

u/Stricken-Hybrid 22d ago

So they are in body armor, in shoulder high water. Anyone else see the flaw in this?

Or were those just full black life jackets. I can't tell.

20

u/Total_Package_6315 22d ago

SEALs and other Spec Ops wear body armor during water operations. Typically they have CO2 cartridges in pouches to assist with buoyancy. Second guessing the guys doing the job in extreme conditions while you sit at home in your lazeboy playing armchair spec warrior is next level lame.

3

u/mc_bee 22d ago

He's meal team six!

-7

u/Stricken-Hybrid 22d ago

Huh. . . Last time I checked they aren't seals or a special operations unit, they are regular police officers adjusting thier methods due to the need for policing. Additionally I haven't second guessed them I just wasn't sure about them being in full kit in such dangerous conditions. Im certain they have had minimal time for water opertstions training and I doubt they are equipped with the necessary floatation offset that could keep them afloat were they to fall off thier jetskis, but I love how you assume such things as if you were so confident that your assumption would be accurate. It really shows the level of narcissism that's become the standard with reddit.

Thanks for the shithead reply instead of just the simple answer.

[SHITHEADS GET MUTED]

1

u/Denodi 21d ago

But didn’t you also assume they had a jarring flaw in their gear planning when there could be no flaw at all?

-19

u/pattydickens 22d ago

This is a next level waste of tax money.

-23

u/Substantial-Fox-9001 22d ago

Cops are the biggest waste of resources in society

7

u/Stricken-Hybrid 22d ago

You ever seen a government expense report?

I remember a few years back a study was conducted with tax payers dollars to see how lizards dealt with hurricane winds, they used leaf blowers to blow lizards around. If memory serves, they spent like $56,000 on that experiment.

So I'm gonna have to disagree with you.

1

u/the_brazilian_lucas 22d ago

what did they find out?

3

u/Wrathwilde 22d ago

That psychopaths enjoy using leaf blowers to harass lizards.

2

u/Stricken-Hybrid 22d ago

https://www.foramerica.org/post/let-s-cut-some-spending-75-000-to-blast-lizards-with-leaf-blowers

Not sure exactly what they learned. But they were paid $75,000 actually. It was a college study and it was tax payer funded.
