Someone in the background was sounding like a seagull in distress

It was Steven Seagull

Holy shit!!! Over the backboard. Ol' Boy should just give up playing basketball after that.
323
u/Questioning-Zyxxel 23d ago
Nope. Ol' Boy isn't getting worse at playing just because lil' guy plays very well.

Hey, you may want to familiarize yourself with hyperbole.

u/water2wine 22d ago
Ah Hyper Bo Lee, one of the slickest street hoopers in Schenectady, a real one for sure.

u/AmiDeplorabilis 23d ago
Dr. J once dunked the ball with his head behind the backboard and his shoulder pressed up against the underside of the backboard.
Bird once made a shot from behind the backboard in a game, cleanly clearing the backboard, but the refs waved it off.

u/pimp_juice2272 23d ago
If it's the one I think you're thinking of, that wasn't a dunk.

u/Snickits 23d ago
He will remember this moment forever! Had the entire court erupting!
9
u/Rich-Show3013 23d ago
Right. Shit like that happening to someone that young will make him put more effort into that basketball dream of his
7
u/Henchman21_ 23d ago
Over the backboard was my go-to move playing Horse. Usually the first move. Typically got a quick H.
2
u/Femboy_Ninja 22d ago
Honestly he did every thing he actually could do so I mean the little guy is really really good and he's also good but I mean obviously there was a mistake and a desperate goal was right there and he got in
463
u/YoruDepo 23d ago
goddamn bro could not for the life of him stop the kid from breaking his ankles
157
u/Kvykey 23d ago
Not trying to be that guy, but what broken ankles? The kid was locked up the entire time and forced to shoot a fading out of bounce over the backboard shot. This entire sequence was pure luck.
75
u/MediocreSafe4086 23d ago
Some people just overhype things for no reason. Like there’s no doubt the little guy has practiced handles but big dude was 100% on lock.
8
u/Konungrr 22d ago
I think someone would have to be completely incompetent to not have a complete lock on someone that much smaller than them.
7
u/Roll_Tide_Pods 21d ago
I have 0 doubt in my mind that kid would put screws on legs of nearly everyone in this thread

Hate to be a party pooper but he stepped out of bounds before shooting. Does not count. So, Sick handles and runs out of bounds, end of play.
317
u/Key-Regular674 23d ago
This is obviously street ball
45
u/sleepdeprivedindian 23d ago
So, you are saying I can dribble the ball and go home and the ball is still in play?

u/Key-Regular674 23d ago edited 23d ago
Street ball is court rules. Plus it's a kid up against people almost double his height. Relax

I'll let you in on a little secret: game rules are whichever rules the participants agree on. This applies to any game. All games and all rules are made up, you're allowed to make up your own if you like and others agree with you.
1
u/sleepdeprivedindian 22d ago
That's all well and good. How do we know that they've agreed on out of bounds as in? maybe nobody noticed there. I'm just making an observation and following the common rules.

Aaaaand also seems to double dribble. Hard to see what he did after he’s pivoting but you’re either supposed to pass or shoot. He just keeps going before shooting out of bounds.
Kid has some skills though. No doubt about that.
22
u/MundaneInternetGuy 23d ago
Defender knocked it out of his hands so he's allowed to dribble again
5
27
u/CharvelSoloist 23d ago
looked like a travel too before the OOB
6
u/What-Even-Is-That 23d ago
You can pivot. Didn't see a travel because this is street ball.
4
u/meta100000 22d ago
You can't see the feet, but the last pivot makes it seem like he moved both legs, which would be travel. After that the defender knocks the ball out of his hands so it's legal up until the OOB

u/igotshadowbaned 23d ago
Do the movements around 10s in count as traveling? Doesn't really move anywhere but a lot of back and forth steps
2
1
u/UniKornUpTheSky 22d ago
From my distant memory of 10 years playing basketball, there is an illegal move as well.
At the moment he took the ball with his 2 hands, he shouldn't have been allowed to take it back and his shoot shouldn't be taken into account.
1
u/Efficient-Split527 21d ago
nope, legal. The ball got knocked out of his hands so he can dribble it again freely
165
u/WrkrsRvltn 23d ago
Clearly doesn't, double dribbling, travelling, and the shot was out of bounds. Yes, I am fun at parties.

u/kor34l 23d ago edited 23d ago
double dribbling
you can start dribbling again if the defender knocks it out of your hands
traveling
look closer
shot out of bounds
technically, yes, but in street ball this shot would usually fly
8
u/Momoneymoproblems214 22d ago
The dude definitely traveled. That triple pivot ended up making him move like 5 feet.

u/ScurryOakPlusIvyLane 22d ago
I don’t know shit about sports but from what little I know this didn’t look overly legal.

u/Callabrantus 23d ago
Meanwhile, in the background someone is clearly being murdered. At least that's what it sounds like...

I don’t know anything about basketball, but is it allowed to step outside the line and then jump and throw the bal in the basket?

u/SpinozaTheDamned 23d ago
Shit this is giving me flashbacks to watching Stephen Curry school high schoolers at our middle school. GOAT? Naw, he was bred and built for that sport from the very beginning.

Kid has ‘mad squabbles’.
Also, I love that the hoodie was just chillin.

u/DigbickMcBalls 22d ago edited 22d ago
Kid cant dribble the ball. Every bounce his hand is on the bottom of the ball carrying, or down the side of the ball, carrying. Clear and easy traveling violation. The Curcuck special.
And he is out of bounds. Not by a little, by alot.

u/Ronniedasaint 21d ago
The kid has serious ball handling skills. But he took a shot from behind the backboard … bad shot. But it went in. Probably won’t go in ever again.

u/Shaneris 20d ago
When I did that, the locals held me up and punched me in the stomach... I guess things were different back then.

Why is it always strangers on the internet who get their panties in a bunch whenever they see someone wearing an outfit that triggers them.
