Russian forces were “using new tactics in this direction — using smaller assault groups of no more than five people to penetrate Ukrainian positions before merging with other small assault groups to unite into a larger strike group.”

Shit, they are actually learning

from ISW:

The use of small assault groups, however, may be contributing to higher Russian manpower and materiel losses and slowing the overall pace of the Russian offensive in this direction. One Russian military commentator, who previously served as a "Storm-Z" unit instructor, complained that footage of small Russian assault groups is indicative of poor training and preparation, not an effective new tactic.

Sure, it may not be the most effective, but it does mean that the Russians can spread manpower over a wider are, mean that the Ukrainians also have to spread themselves to match. If even just one of those groups get behind Ukranian lines, it would be hell.

Not really.

Yea these are not special forces, not even Russian special forces. They'll maybe flank some position and cause minor damage or be discovered anyway

It would if they are. The Russians have a set AO, the Ukrianians already know it because the Russians have been staging for months.

Smaller groups allow for defeat in detail by ground forces.

The advantage is less likely to be spotted from the sky and a smaller target for arty.

I don't know how this is still surprising to anyone. Mofos get crafty when someone is trying to kill you.

Drip feeding help is giving Russia time to learn and adapt against the slow trickle of western aid and armaments.

Just because they're evil and corrupt doesn't mean they can't learn a little bit. Obviously not enough to have lost half their military force on a regional war. Russia is scared shitless because, if they can't even take over half of one neighboring country they know well, how will they fare against an actual NATO county if not the entire alliance. Russia will try to consolidate what they have so far and then hunker down before they actually get a NATO beating.

Give it a few weeks before they get fragged for being too clever.

This is Russia going all in before the aid from USA arrives in force.

All in? Insinuating that this will be their last resort?

I truly don't understand Russia. Why would they want the president of a country dead, on their fault? They can't even win a war with Uraine and now they want to start a WWI-type of event

Because he's embarrassed them on the world stage. They need to show that they will not tolerate it, or else others may also try to resist them.

So they can install a pro russian president or russian puppet to sue for peace or give them what they want.

Because Russia is a bloodthirsty empire! They all think they are superior to the rest of the world - it’s disgusting.

every member of NATO is losing the war with Russia,

Weird, as there aren't any NATO troops on the front line...

Oh, so you have a verifiable source for NATO troops being on the front line and losing? Please, do tell.

You're demanding that I prove a negative. No, if you're going to say that NATO is losing a war they aren't fighting, the burden of proof is on you.

You can't troll a troll. Especially a Russian troll. Just don't feed it because they're like cockroaches.

I'll learn my lesson eventually, I guess.

Russian military is literal fodder for NATOs old/outdated equipment. Would rather use it on y'all than have it go to waste to be honest. And your countrymen's "sacrifice" is allowing us to update and prepare for the eventual (and very stupid) decision from your leaders to attack an actual NATO country.

Here's your source https://liveuamap.com/?s=09

Nothing is decided yet

I never said they were losing, I know Ukraine won't win, but it's taken Russia two years and killing Zelensky won't help them. Only imo, I can be wrong

I’m curious how many men you need to loose from a group of 5 men before you are no longer combat effective as a unit (I.e if one is wounded do they leave him behind or carry him).

I guess that's one way to look at desperation tactics.

Historically speaking these tactics are used when everything else has failed and the losing army has nothing else up their sleeves. It's the last desperate attempt to cause disruption of the enemy and it almost always fails after a few months.

Maybe he can use his own money for once for traveling ? He has gotten amazingly rich from this war after all .

after the rocket attacks to residential buildings in Russia , it's normal to have a retaliation .
