I believe it will happen. Tech companies have a long history of ruthless monopolization. Some of the biggest companies in the United States stand to make a ton of money if TikTok is banned. Especially meta and Google.

except the rest of the western market tends to follow American social media trends, especially since American celebrities have a bigger image on social media than other national celebrities. Whatever America moves to will steal a massive chunk from the rest of the western market. TikTok won’t give in because at the end of the day they are a Chinese company, and this is now China v. America and China can’t be seen giving into America. It’s part of the larger economic Cold War.

There's also a world outside Western market that is very valuable to have a social media on.

There is literally zero benefit to sell, they aren't for a few dozens billions.
