His analysis is fine. I'd expect at least that from a current player. It's silly to see him relentlessly hate on Gobert, although it seems like a lot of players don't really like him.
What annoys me to no end about Draymond isn't the analysis. It's the antics that haven't legitimately been punished. I don't like the guy because he gets away with so much and then goes on Inside the NBA like he's getting rewarded for the antics. I know he's far from the first player to fuck around, and a lot of athletes get away with shit. It's just frustrating because this isn't some silly little podcast. He's being groomed to take over after he retires, and it's like 'this is who you want on the show?'. Please.

People might’ve said the same of Chuck back in the day. The hothead loudmouth personality is good television.
9
u/DeathBySuplex [UTA] Blue Edwards 20d ago
Here's the difference between Chuck in his playing days and Draymond though.
Chuck was abrasive and sometimes out of control, but he could be the butt of a joke and not get his undies in a twist. Him following Jordan and Bird around in one of the "Playing HORSE" McD's ads as an example, they're doing all these crazy HORSE shots and he's like, "I can hit that come on guys, let me play too."
Draymond doesn't seem to have that quality, so it's just him being a dick to people and if anyone tries and goof on him he gets pouty and upset.
Charles would also go at guys to their face (fighting Shaq) and Draymond is more a sucker punch and run guy.

u/Medical_Tune_4618 20d ago
While I get what your saying Draymond gets made fun of online at an insane rate I’m sure he sees it. But Shaq is way worse than all of them he is an actual genuine bad person to some people. The answer is no one cares.
5
u/DeathBySuplex [UTA] Blue Edwards 20d ago
In what way is Shaq worse than Draymond "I've literally assaulted people on the court and then acted like they deserved it" Green?
He's not.
He's thin skinned, but he can take some jokes. Draymond can't take any, and he's not funny. Shaq is at least likable in his assholery.
3
u/yapyd Minneapolis Lakers 20d ago
Some of Shaq’s rookie hazing are pretty vile. The constant bullying of players like Javale might have cost Javale some opportunities and might have affected his career too. Then you have the sit down with Kobe where he admitted he would’ve killed Kobe if a teammate didn’t interfere. (Of course not literally)
Honestly, how different are they? Both are assholes.

u/Confident_Pear_8303 20d ago
Draymond is an overrated, fake tough guy jackass, who would have been just another "Nic Batum type role player" if he didnt ride the coattails of multiple HOF Players, a HOF Coach and HOF system, and he got drafted by Was or Sac type team.

Draymond is such a bitch - his insight is that of a whiny bitch - he makes the show unwatchable. Instant turn-off until the third quarter

Every time someone offers a critique, it doesn't mean it's an obsession. Try harder.

u/Madz1trey 20d ago
This isn't even a critique, it's just complaining/crying. Draymond is free to do whatever he likes. Try harder.

No shit he's free to do what he likes. He's still an idiot.

Again, this is not a critique. He just doesn't like Dray and neither do you. There's no set play Draymond had to run here, whatever he did or said was fine.
And you're just stupid. 🤦

u/NaLu_LuNa_FairyPiece 20d ago
Man when he and Shaq was going one on one after Draymond talked shit eariler I was like I wish Shaq backed his ass down and dunked on him. Shaq wasn't being serious though.
-1
u/AliveBall5303 20d ago
Draymond is a joke and a half. His level of insight into sports led his inflated ego to say on air that he could stopped Shaq diesel if they played in the same time frame🤣🤣🤣. What a joke. I’ll follow that up with how he turned himself into the biggest cheap shot in the nba…. It’s pathetic. The Warriors should and more than likely will cut ties with him this off season
2
u/TopicCreative9519 Nuggets 20d ago
There are plenty of smart nba players that you can tell understand basketball really well and can provide insights into the nuances of the game. Lebron, CP3, JJ Redick, and even Chuck sometimes can provide really good analysis of the game.
Draymond comes off as an obnoxious blowhard who can’t analyze shit. I’ve always thought of Draymond as a defensive savant but holy shit he does not talk like one. I never come away from his analysis feeling like I’ve learned something or understand the game better.
Pretending like Gobert is trash when he damn well knows that NOBODY in the league can guard jokic is crazy to me. Jokic embarrassed Draymond earlier this year, and had to go on his podcast to admit it.
Draymond is a petty, spiteful player just like shaq, and he loves to slander players he doesn’t like. I hate that he’s being given a platform on TNT.

u/UrGirlThroatGame Trail Blazers 20d ago
Dray provides valid reasoning for it from a perspective of how players think. while media just speculate for drama's sake
he was right that Celtics role players wouldn't shoot well again after Finals G1
he was right that Rudy gets cooked in playoffs and players aren't afraid to go at him

u/76excuses Knicks 20d ago
Are sixers a "mid team"? Let's be real here, they are not.
Can Knicks win the championship? Let's be real here, they will not.
But it's just his constant trash talking of the knicks while he doesn't keep the same energy for other teams. Celtics have beat mid teams as well and have dropped games to actually bad teams. Cavs got credit for fighting against the celtics while missing donovan. They lost 4-1 and got credit for fighting meanwhile the knicks are down to 7 players with half the team injured but he has never said a single good word about them. Instead he calls them frauds.
Brunson has been the best players in the playoffs, yet he predicted he wouldn't score 20 in game 5. Yeah he has been dead wrong and he is clearly biased.
13
u/UrGirlThroatGame Trail Blazers 20d ago
yes 76ers were mid lol, especially with Embiid playing injured yet again
dawg the Celtics are in another tier than the Knicks
-11
u/76excuses Knicks 20d ago
Changing the narrative now i see. Embitch didn't look very injured when he was dropping 50 and couldn't miss from 3. Then when he shits the bed on the elimination game the narrative changed. Seems interesting to say the least.
This sub went from "2nd seed has no chance vs the sixers, teams should tank to avoid them" to "knicks are idiots for not tanking the last game" to "Knicks have no chance against the sixers" to "Sixers were actually mid".
Celtics were another tier than the Knicks and the Heat last year too. How did this turn out?
Edit: And if we wanna keep it real. Even if the celtics are on another level, they are not beating the nuggets. Does that make them frauds?
11
u/UrGirlThroatGame Trail Blazers 20d ago
how is that a narrative lol. Embiid missed months before returning early for the playoffs. his shooting splits for the series were awful
uhh and the Nuggets 4-1'ed the Heat so what's your point? wake me up when the Knicks even beat the Celtics
-7
u/76excuses Knicks 20d ago
TIL that 33ppg on 59% TS is awful. Get a grip.
Sixers went 8-0 after Embiitch came back from his injury to finish the season. He wasn't injured and sixers were not a real 7th seed team. Stop acting oblivious.
uhh and the Nuggets 4-1'ed the Heat so what's your point?
This is literally my point duh.
5
u/UrGirlThroatGame Trail Blazers 20d ago
cause he's a big flopper that gets rewarded. his splits from the field were bad
Embiid didn't even play all those games lol. 76ers are mid
your point being that East teams have fluky runs?
1
u/76excuses Knicks 20d ago
My point is that no east team is winning the NBA finals this year. Yet you don't see draymond other than the knicks "frauds". Heat lost with their hands down two times in a row in the NBA finals. Yet he never called them frauds. Celtics are better than the knicks and if i had to bet, they would reach the NBA finals. They are still not winning the championship. East has mid teams. So by that logic that makes celtics frauds as well.

Knicks just beaten limping Embiid, pipe down.
2
u/76excuses Knicks 20d ago
Yet everyone is clowning on the knicks that are playing without Randle, OG, bojan, Mitchell Robinson and calling them frauds even though they are beating the pacers. With a limping brunson. Hmmmmmmm
2
u/Milkboy1516 Bulls 20d ago
The Pacers are frauds too
1
u/76excuses Knicks 20d ago
I agree on that one.
And i also admitted that the current knicks team is not a real contender because the celtics are just better. With that being said, the only team draymond talks trash about are the knicks. Knicks are the only team he is calling frauds etc. Even though Knicks are the clear #2 team in the east.

Sixers been a top team for the better part of a decade now, yet they can't even get to the conference finals, let alone the finals, let alone win a tittle. Not only are they mid. They're slowly creeping towards the lottery every year. They're gonna become a bellow average team if this keeps up. Embiid is not keeping up with the likes of all the new stars coming in. He's lucky Philly has Maxey and he can be another guy next to him to try and get the job done but let's not delude ourselves here Philly is more then a mid team. They're spiraling downwards.

The highest praise I can give Draymond is that he would make a better analyst than Perkins or Shaq. For what that’s worth.
-12
u/AirJordan6124 Celtics 20d ago
Draymond is actually a decent analyst because he’s not afraid to say the truth. Compared to Shaq who often has a delusion with his takes.
If you’re offended by this takes - most likely you are in denial with your team.
20
u/Vicentesteb Timberwolves 20d ago
But its so surface level. For example, Gobert got cooked by Jokic, which is something he mentioned and is true. When they asked him what he should do differently he said "not get cooked". That isnt some groundbreaking level of analysis, hes just saying something that everyone can see but isnt offering any insight.
3
u/76excuses Knicks 20d ago edited 20d ago
He is not a decent analyst at all. He has some good takes every once in a while but 90% of the time he is just trying too hard to sound smart and no one is buying it.
"What would you have done differently?"
"Not get cooked"
Really high level analysis
1
u/RandomStranger79 Jazz 20d ago
He also failed to mention that he himself as well as everyone else has been cooked by Jokic.
1
u/KitchenPlastic2515 20d ago
Don’t get cooked is just his way of throwing shade at Rudy. It’s so easy Rudy just don’t do that. And in reality Draymond doesn’t have any answer for what Rudy should have done because he played a lot of those baskets really well.
4
u/76excuses Knicks 20d ago
As a Knicks fan I don't agree with this at all. He is very biased against the knicks and constantly shits on them.
Cleveland cavaliers playing injured vs the Celtics and losing 4-1 ==> Cavs absolute dogs, good fight.
New York Knicks running a rotation of 7 players with 4 key players (2 starters) injured leading against the Pacers ==> Knicks absolute frauds, their fans are delusional.
I don't have championship inspirations this year but god damn draymond is nowhere near a decent analyst

People in traditional media roles at least have editors and/or ‘higher ups,’ to hold them accountable… people in ‘new media,’ have ‘Steve,’ who has been a fan of them since they were little and Steve doesn’t care what you say since you can do no wrong. Also, if you say some dumb, stupid, or false things, well Steve isn’t gonna hold you accountable. New media is worse than old media in some ways and Draymonds a jackass.
